Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Carucenus sighs when Sister Teresa is mentioned by Andron. "No. She wasn't buried. But, don't worry about it. I'll do it myself. I've bothered you enough already. You've been suffering in those caves long enough and deserve to get the treasure you fought for without further delay."

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Alordan asks, "If they are little boats, where the hell are they coming from? No one ever mentioned these on the big island before did they? Or they are getting brave coming out since there may not be any more minotaurs? Let's be ready for an attack...from anything."

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Andronichishche ponders Alordan's question briefly before responding. "Those you encountered yesterday were wet. That suggests they had very recently arrived on the island, and likely from the northeast given it's the closest point to the main island."
"If they live here the casks must normally be well hidden, otherwise we would have seen them from circumnavigating the island. I recommend we attempt to capture one for interrogation. If only to ascertain whether they pose a future threat to Beachtown."

Andronichishche clasps Carucenus by the shoulder, a sympathetic demeanor evident. "I've stared into the infinite depths of the void. I know the ... effect ... it can have on one's mind. We will secure Sister Theresa's body first. I will not tolerate kobolds desecreting her remains. I also would like to scan the area for magical items, especially the debris filled room."

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Carucenus cracks a wrily smile. "Thank you, Andron. I'm really glad you made it and are back with us." He then turns in a more general direction to the group. "Were they just wet kobolds or something else? I think they looked... Well, not just wet, but different. The sun didn't bother them for starters..."

One More Excursion
Starday, 20th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Sunny, Warm, Humid
Pete reluctantly rows closer to the thick patch of fronds, leaves, and vines that hang down from the trees and shrubs covering this area. The vegetation is even more thick on this shore. Nothing else is seen besides the small halved casks lying around in the lush jungle.
The boat gets close enough for anyone willing to jump to shore if they wish, but Pete and Joe both look apprehensive about being this close. “Are ye plannin on gettin out here now?”
Actions?

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Alordan looks at the others, "I"m not getting out here. No room to defend ourselves. Next time we come back we can bring an axe and clear out some of these trees and make a landing here."
"I was thinking also that it's probably a lot easier to grab water from the wells inside the cave and row back to town versus hauling it all the way down the beach. We could bucket it out of the well, fill a cask on a boat or two, then bucket it out of the boat when we get back to town. More water, less work and less time...."

Andronichishche nods in agreement. "Quite so, Mr. Alordan. Their ability to brachiate through the trees puts us at a severe tactical disadvantage. Mr. Pete, please row us to the beach, post haste. That gold coin was not a gratuity, but an incentive." The last few words he says with a wink at Pete.
Andron carefully folds the map he was studying and slips it into his pack. "An admirable idea concerning the water. We would still need to deal with the carnivorous trees blocking the paths and the lintel to the stone circle. The minotaur and now the kobolds also pose a threat. We'll need to return with suitable tools and a plan to address them."
He gestures at Carucenus with a slight wave of his hand. "Mr. Carucenus also makes an astute point. These are definitely not normal subterranean kobolds, but some kind of jungle variety. They may have abilities we are as yet still unaware. I suspect they may be from another unexplored island to the east, off the southeastern shore of the main island."

The cleric gets her gear ready and scans the island as the boat moves along the perimeter of the island.

Carucenus
"How many of those little monsters might there be, judging from the number of caskets and their size?"
He tries to assess that and will communicate it to his companions in case more mathematically minded than him doesn't do it first.

Andronichishche
"Judging based on the fact one cask was left behind yesterday after three of the four kobold escaped, I would speculate each cask normally carries one kobold. Six casks returned. They're likely expecting a conflict so may have doubled or even tripled the crews. A minimum of six, perhaps over twenty?"
Correction: six casks returned.

Andronichishche
Immediately after estimating the number of kobold on the island, Andronichishche tilts his head slightly in thought then quickly procures his map of the caves from his pack. He unfolds it and points to the altar chamber where they found the kobold statues.
"The kobold encountered yesterday were likely scouts. There were four of them. There are four kobold statues in the altar room, possibly from a previous scouting group. The latter were definitely not old, but they could be quite recent. They may have been another group of scouts which never returned. Petrified by Marquees and given to Cora as ... gifts. Now their whole tribe knows of this island. We must act quickly and secure the treasure before more arrive."

As the boat approaches the beach the cleric scans the area for any potential threats...killer trees, minotaurs and kobolds.
