Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Carucenus "If we're to venture into the jungle to get to your boat, it'd be better if we march in a defensive position. I'd wager we'll be harassed by stone volleys. Those of us with shields should hold them high on the sides, the rest of you should get in the center of the formation, so you can be protected from their fire, and fire yourselves in turn from behind us, if need be. But the aim should be getting to the beach as soon as possible and make a stand there if they do pursue us."

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Sorry, I have been giving out the wrong directions in my last few posts. The boat is actually on the west end of the island and the kobolds are headed east.
Downtrodden Departure
Freeday, 19th of Goodmonth
Approaching Midday, Sunny, Hot, Humid
As the rest of the group catches up, the wet kobold Cu knocked down eventually gets back up and sprints after his friends. The tiny creatures are slow moving on land, but once they hit the foliage, it is a different story. They act a bit more like monkeys amongst the trees, using saplings, low hanging limbs, and dangling vines to propel themselves along faster than they could ever move on the ground. Cu starts after the straggler, but the dog is unable to catch up since the little monster keeps swinging itself off the ground now.
Maag is correct when he says that the rowboat is in the opposite direction of the kobolds escape route, and he is glad to see that there are no killer trees anywhere in sight. He suggests they forget about any pursuit and get moving to the boat.
Since the island is so small, Alordan is certain he could still easily track the fleeing kobolds movements to the eastern shore. Carucenus shows his worth almost immediately at the first sign of danger, calling for a tactical, military-like traveling formation.
Saracen steps outside the stone ring and looks around, the lifeless body of Andron still draped over his broad shoulder. “Really? Jungle kobolds? It would seem that those little bastards can adapt to any climate and topography.” He looks in the direction of the beach and the boat. “I’m not carrying this load through the jungle, so I’m with anyone who wants to leave the little shits alone. We can row around to that shore when we leave if you want to see where they’re headed.”
Actions?

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Alordan is somewhat relieved that the jungle kobolds aren't more dangerous than they are. If they were wet, where they swimming or did they come from the sea? Whatever...
"Before we leave, let's take a look at that altar and ring of rocks near the cave, maybe there is a bull's nose there. If we try to climb a tree, safely this time, does that help us get a look at the island and what may be hiding some treasure? Or where those kobolds went.."

Tlachtga retrieves Cu and heads back to the others. "Sounds like a plan Alordan."

Maag
"Yeah, der altar didn't 'ave nuffin useful", Maag concurs.
"Let's get back to der boat. If dat bunch of little bleeders 'as bin over der, dey might 'ave 'acked up Joe an' Pete. Fink 'ow yer would feel if dey bled to death before we got der!" He gives his companions an impassioned look.
"I mean, I don't wanna row dat bleedin' big, 'eavy boat."

Lerrick
I'm for leaving too.
I am willing to come back. Lot's of things to do...find the treasure, investigate the kobolds, bring Cresty back. If we make it to the boat alive and well and we rest up for a couple days, who's willing to come back?

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Andronichishche completes scribing the final sigil of a theoretical equation. The arcane function stretched from one end of the slate to the other in white chalk. The theorem describes the creation of what he refers to as a psionitropic matrix. As the name implies, it's based on the exceedingly rare phenomena of psionic ability. Powers activated solely by the mind, without the need for any kind of spellcasting knowledge or components. He previously thought such lore was based on primitive tales by people who lacked the understanding of how magic works. After his experience with the anomaly, however ...
Despite lacking psionic ability himself, the new awareness he gained of his own mind allowed him to see how a pseudo psionic effect can be achieved. If it could only be unlocked. The psionitropic matrix theory was, he hoped, the key. Essentially an arcane construct that binds to the nervous system of the caster, translating a spell pattern directly into the mind, and vice versa.
Inherent inefficiencies in the translation process necessarily limits the scope of any spells utilizing a psionitropic matrix, but the inclusion of the caster's intuition and intellect directly into the spell pattern should expand the possibilities for novel spell effects. In theory.
Sighing in satisfaction, Andron turns to elicit feedback from the only other occupant of the classroom. A odd winged cat lounging on the lectern at the front of the room. Except, it was gone. The lectern, that is. The cat was still there, just as indifferent as before. In fact, the classroom itself was gone, replaced with rows upon rows of bookshelves. The cat was now lounging atop a nearby chair.
The blackboard and even the chalk he was holding were also gone. He wasn't particularly alarmed by this as they were conjurations of his unconscious mind. The current room was obvious to him as a replica of the great library in the temple of Rao in Niole Dra. A place he visited quite often in his studies. He steps up to a nearby bookshelf and selects the last book from the top shelf. The rest of the shelves were oddly empty. In plain gold letters on the book's spine was the date, or at least the date as he remembers it was. Curious, he pages through the book and scans its contents ...
As surreal as the lucid dream he was experiencing, the book was quite even more so. It was literally a transcript of everything he had experienced today. Everything he saw, heard, touch, tasted, even thought. Fascinated, he skips to the end of the book and finds the page describing the events immediately after the portcullis pinned him to the floor.
He noticed a distinct change, though. The transcript had changed to recording only what he could hear, which obviously made sense considering his condition. Andron smiled warmly as he read about Gramble's herculean feat of strength, lifting the heavy portcullis and thereby saving his life. "Well done, Mr. Gramble! Well done ..."
He continues reading and ponders the riddle of the copper ring and the medusa's treasure. "A bull's nose? That ring is too large to fit inside a statue's snout. What could it be referring ... ah, I understand!"

Alordan looks around the island and the group that are hurt, "okay - we'll leave for now. Come back when we are rested up." After a few minutes, he'll remember, "Let's grab some more fruit to bring back to the island while we are at it.."

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Okay, I am going to have to do a little time juggling again here, so I have to ask this.
Since nobody is really hurting that bad on hit points, are you planning on spending more than one night back in town?
If not, we can continue the action in this thread. If so, there may be some delay getting back.
It doesn’t matter to me either way, I just thought I better mention that beforehand.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
I think we just need to go back to get andron so I would assume 1 night is enough
Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
I was thinking 1 night would be sufficient as well.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
I assumed two. The current night, plus one. Lerrick would need to rest before healing Andron, then another night to regain spells?
Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Lerrick
Unless Saracan's last move was to rest and heal Andron. What do you say?
Welcome back Andron! (loved the posts)

Heal Andron and regain spells. One should do it.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Either 1 or 2 nights is fine with me.
OM, tell me if/how much Carucenus has to take off of his money for a shack (since he'll have to sleep in one anyways).
