Hlalf spreads himself flat against the riser one step above the trap, his weapon ready.

Cold Speak:
When the beast is trapped, I strike from high ground
he says, making an arcing motion with his hand.

Fiemar nods in silent greeting as Saal, Aurs, and Schmenk arrive on the riser, climbing the long way up. He bids farewell to the owl. "Return to your own weft, with hope I shall not need you again."

He concurs with Hlalf, responding in Coldspeak, "It is a strong position."

He looks to the others, his eyes settling on Saal, and speaks in Low Lankmarese, "Who intends to sneak up to the cat with the vial, then?"

Shmehk

"With the owl gone we need a new way to drive the cat this way. Perhaps missiles, or I have a spell that summons choking fumes around a creature"

Saal gazes back uncomfortably towards Fiemar:

In Low Lankhmarese:

"I am only half as good at sneaking upon a creature as I am laying in wait, perhaps the best course would be to send Raamiz, however how do we get upon the creature itself?"

Raamiz would be on the steps as well.

"Give me the powder, then, and I will deliver it. You are truly a bag of tricks, Shmeck Scree!
I am sorry I ever doubted your wizardry. But could we distract the cat somehow? If someone with a strong arm - or a bow - were to throw something beyond it, it would be easier to approach. If I fail to approach it with stealth, the timing will be tricky indeed."

You may also wish to consider that the cat is 100 feet back from the stairs in the darkness.

It sounds like Raamiz will just have to take his chances. At least he has the advantages of being small and the cat hopefully not knowing he's coming.

Raamiz will crouch at the top of the stairs, waiting for a moment when the cat is looking away, or facing in a different direction, creeping forward at those times and freezing into the space between floor and wall whenever the cat turns his way.

Raamiz makes his way up, slowly, step by step, to the top of the stairs. Her reaches the top landing. It is pitch black.

There is no cat visible.

Please make a DC 6 stamina check.

You get up with no trouble (that was too see if you got tired out by the stairs).

The top of the landing, isolated from the outside, here in the middle of the night, is dark. Fiemar had seen the cat with his infravision mask, but you'll need a light source...

(Can I put a mask on him?)

I don't think so... the spell is pretty clearly taking about a mask on the caster's face

Raamiz, realizing he is totally blind on this floor and stands no chance against a monstrous cat who isn't, retreats to the stairs.

"We need a new plan, brethren."

That actually gives me another idea, but I need to be able to see to try it.

Raamiz pulls a somewhat-crumpled scroll bearing a Conclave mark from his belt pouch and unrolls it, his lips moving slightly as he reads.

I'd like to try casting Mask myself, actually...

Cast spell from scroll: [1d12+1] = 10+1 = 11

I'd like the 12-13 result, so I'll burn a point of Luck:

Luck die: [1d3] = 2

Aurs notices one person staring into the dark as if something is there and another preparing a spell. He pulls out his two handed sword.

"Please keep me appraised so I know where to position myself."

Raamiz nods, staring up into the darkness above them. He responds in a distant voice as he clambers up the final step. "Of course."

Should I make another Stamina test?

Fiemar whispers to Aurs' and the others in Low Lankmarese, "The trap is set here on the stair, halfway down. Raamiz went up alone, to try to dose the cat with a potion and, if it fails, lead the cat in a chase back down towards us. Hopefully, the cat will step in the trap. Schmenk will try to cast an entanglement. Hlalf says he'll hide one step above to come downward with a mighty strike on the cat. Saal says he is most effective hiding here, next to the trap, to strike from surprise. I will be here, too." He pats his own longsword.

Raamiz reads the words from the scroll. As he finishes, the ink floats up off the page, and attaches itself to his face, drawing runes across his forehead and his eyes.

Raamiz' eyes begin to glow, and he can see the shape of the cat, easily 10 feet tall, lying in the center of the landing, about 50 feet from him. The cat seems to be sound asleep at the moment.

Note: this spell only lasts 1 round per caster level, so you get basically one action... make it good :)

You don't need to roll again, the roll was for climbing a bunch of these 8 foot high risers

I'm guessing that's not enough time to sneak up and apply the powder?
