Not destroyed. They are using it. Selling the spells available for a fee.

Ha! I hadn't realized that was where those spells were coming from! Fantastic turn around for the Eruannan's. Funny that they are profiteering from an item when they cursed the person they took it from.

Baxtaw- Takes the spell book and puts back into pack.That sounds like a fine deal. Do you have a room here where we may study?

Earc nods. "I have a room upstairs. We can get started whenever you are ready."
Earc will spend the day teaching his new pupil the Read Magic spell, then will spend the next day copying the Charm Person spell into his own spellbook.

(You each need to pay 50gp for magical inks and the deal is done. Spending four days doing it in the downtime is fine.)

I would help you learn the spell to read magic contained within for the opportunity to copy one of these spells into my book and the cost of the materials needed for such a task. That will give you the ability to perform any of these spells after you've committed them to memory."

Bandy Sandybanks pays 10gp (for good meals up until May 25) and 10sp (for common room accommodations up until May 25).
Deducting 110sp from character sheet
Also will convert up much of my coin to platinum coins and gold coins from gold and silver and will deduct 1% in fees (400sp and 50gp to 4gp and 5pp, so 9sp)
(Edited to correct the date.)

Irving eats modestly, going for common meals and sleeping in the common lodgings for his time in town, most of his efforts focused on composing and remembering a song about their journey so that he can recite it in the common room and present it to the bard.

Irving sings the tale of their adventurers for the hungry ears of the townsfolk. How handsome he is! He sure knows how to work a ballad, they comment. The song is greeted with applause and over the weeks that follow becomes a favorite request by the Bard.
CHA check passed.

Expedition - Markd/On A Mission From Baudh - 08 May 2021
The Tale of Six and the Last
The six set out on blusterous day,
Under grey and grim skies heavy with rain
To unearth what man had locked away
Long since and hidden neath mystery and shame.
Once-bright cities that shone with Baudh's light
Fallen on shadowy miserable days
Called out to Baudh's priests come over the mount
To restore the lost holy ways.
In ancient tower was hid an icon
of gold and gilt with Holiness round;
Six souls set forth under hooded skies
And here's what they found.
Under a hill in catacomb deep
Were legions of unholy dead that would creep
From their tombs to prey upon the life of the living
Or to listen to speeches some ghosts were giving;
The wretched refuse of the living were fought;
Vermin and oozes festering with rot,
Destroyed good and all in holy Baudh's name
For the faith, for which they all came.
Nothing to be found
In that hole in the ground
But mysteries wrapped with enigmas tight round
A fair fairy queen with no head crying luminous tears
As her suitors and enemies hold court through the years.
Upon a high hill stood a circle of stone;
A resting place for some ancient bones
And a circle of tombs guarded well by fell beasts
That descended and slew the impetuous priest
Who dared to defy their unholy might
And was sent 'fore his time past the reach of the night.
In the air, in the wind did the weeping and dirge
Rise like an ancient soul's vital urge
Against the fell darkness of that timeless land
Lead our heroes from woe by the hand.
And so they returned.
Along ways not yet trodden by men or by beasts,
Simply monsters begotten of darkness and blood.
And so it was,
As the perilous ogre swept forth from the dim
With a horde of cruel kobolds, their spears flashing grim
Laid about him with a tree drawn up by the root
In an orgy of blood laid them out at his foot.
Dwarf, stony-faced, loyal and true;
Captain, with voice of command he is due;
Monk, his hooded face shining with light
And the half-man, with blade burning bright.
All save the last. Irving, the shield
of the fallen, who would not yield.
With a clatter of sword upon shield he cried out
"You, ogre, turn your backside about!
Or prepare for a slaughter, yours and your mates!"
And the kobolds fled, left the ogre to its fate.
With a turn and a twist and a mighty blow
he turned tree-trunk aside and laid the beast low.
Once darkness lifted
Through grace Baudh had gifted,
Irving, the Last, drew the fallen about him
And waited, in the last light of day, as it dimmed.

The group of Markd, Captain Bremen, Olaf Olafson, Bandobras "Bandy" Sandybanks, and Irving Malmstein Rosemont the Third returns to town late on the afternoon of 13 May through the northern gate. They rest in and around the town until the current date of 25 May.
Below is from their end-of-expedition. Please note how you're handling room and board in a post here.
Timestamp: You all enjoy a well-deserved rest in town, from 13 May to 25 May to match the current time stamp. You can leave, but will miss the Greenleaf festival. Assuming you stay for the festival, we extend your stays to 02 June. That is 20 days in town, which gives you two weeks of rest to earn bonuses. Please post in the Golden Tooth Tavern to account for your stay.
- you can pass the time for free at the Infirmary. You get no bonuses, and need to post a confession IC.
- you can stay in the common room for 5cp/night, or 10sp total.
- If you need private rooms (to study or do magic things, for example) then you can get a basic room for 2gp or a suite for 6gp.
- If you buy poor meals, you can pass the time for 2gp total. You get no bonus.
- If you buy common meals, you can pass the time for 6gp total. You get +1 to savings throws for the first two days of your next expedition.
- If you buy good meals, you pass the time for 10gp total. You get +2 savings throws for the first two days of your next expedition.
You can organize and begin an expedition as soon as you wrap up the treasure and such, if you like, as it will set out on June 2 and run concurrently with the Greenleaf Festival.

Captain Bremen takes a seat at the table with Irving. Some feat there. The ogre, sure. But I meant the poem. It's easy to get up to bark orders, but that was something else. You've done us all proud, Irving. Can I getcha anything to drink? You ain't in for alcohol, right? Mebbe a mug of tea? Captain Bremen orders a mug of tea to have with his meal.
I seen you been by the Temple. I haven't had the heart yet. I feel too bad over what become of the Brother.
Common room and poor meals for Captain Bremen. 30 sp paid. And 2 cp for the two teas.

Irving chuckles. "Oh, I drink ale just fine, Captain." About Kells, he simply shrugs. "Brother Kells knew what he was in for when he went out. It's a shame he died, but he died in the service of Baudh, contributing to what will one day make a fine epic when you or I or one of the others makes it to the end." He raises his tankard in salutation and gives a toast to the fallen monk.

Change that order to two ales. Same price.
Captain Bremen raises a tankard with Irving. He certainly should've been safer. Nearly got us all kilt. After finishing the ale, the Captain feels slightly lightheaded - likely due to his grievous wounds. He changes the subject slightly. It's good to hear you're heading back out again. Me too. We'll see this through and get knighted proper-like, Sir Irving!

Irving blushes. "Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves--a knight's road is a long and a hard one, judging from the tales." He downs most of his tankard in one gulp. "However, that's what makes for the good telling later! Never was a story made better by a run of good luck, say the historians."
