Baruch wants to be on all trips, i e back and forth for the total number of voyages needed. Is that OK with the group ?
So FYI Baruch is accompanying Garrett on all trips

Yup you are correct. I figured two "guards" was proper ;)

Load The Ferry

Gog and Magog produce big planks and work with Milli to get the wagon on the ferry. 2 horses are loaded. Calen, Garrett, Baruch, & Fredricus climb aboard.

Gog waives both hands to the figure on the shore. Magog begins to pull the rope and Gog pushes with the long pole. Judging from the pole, the river must be between 15 and 20 feet deep.

The ferry is very stable.

But when the ferry is in the middle of the river, where the current is fastest, it begins to move down stream.

The giant rope unspools from the tree on the opposite bank and is sucked into the river. The figure standing on the shore throws up arms as if to say "I dunno".

The ferry moves very fast in the middle of the river -- about 150 ft per round.

Gog says, Oh, here we go again. It is ok! We land ferry and start over, no big deal.

Magog grabs a coiled rope and stands on the edge of the ferry while Gog navigates with the pole.

The ferry is heading south, toward the bend in the river, into the darkened woods. Gog pushes the ferry toward the west bank, the one the party started from. The woods are too thick on the river bank to ride a horse through.

On the opposite bank, the figure runs trying keeping pace with the run-away ferry.

Garrett "Is there any way we can help and is that man running over there one of yours Gog?" he points to the figure keeping running pace with the ferry.

Gog says, that's my mom. Just relax. It happens sometimes.

Garrett looks hard at the running figure. He can see some detail now.

Looks like an older Orc female.

the raft is moving the opposite direction from the orc mom. Magog has a rope ready and stands at the front of the ferry, waiting to get nearer shore.

Adrift, again.

Have not heard from Fredricus or Titus or Calen. But I have time. So, here goes.

Calen, Garrett, Baruch, Fredricus, Milli, 2 horses and the wagon drift in a south west direction on the ferry. The ferry has drifted about 150 yards and is about 40 feet from the west bank when:

Gog dives in the water and begins to swim to the west bank.

Magog throws his rope on the shore and dives into the river.

Countless Orcs emerge from the darkened woods, shreaking & whooping. Three orcs grab the rope and begin to pull the ferry to shore. It will be on the bank in only segments.
Image

Cross bow bolts whiz through the trees and toward the party. Milli screams in pain. A bolt protrudes from her thigh -4hp.

2 bolts streak past Garrett, another past Baruch.

A bolt strikes a horse and both horses dive into the river in a panic! Each horse swims to an opposite bank.

Meanwhile, Montego, Sanu, Svent and Titus can see the Orc ambush. But they have 150 yards of woods to navigate. The river is too deep to run horses. The bank is narrow and soft. One could move a horse on the bank and get to the ambush much sooner, but there would be a risk of falling into the river (20%).

5 rounds through the woods on foot, or 2 rounds by horse on river bank to reach ambush.
Milli shot [1d20] = 20 [1d4] = 2 x2
Garrett shot : [1d20] = 1 [1d100] = 77 no fumble
[1d100] = 86 clean miss
[1d20] = 9 horse struck [1d4] = 4
Baruch shot [1d20] = 6
[1d100] = 70clean miss
Horse panic [1d100] = 49 [1d100] = 48

Crit on Mili [1d100] = 85 just double damage

Garret "Alright I mist give him time to make it to the shore." Garret takes out the bow again and fires at the orcs shooting at them on the ferry.

Long Bow Arrow 1[1d20 +3] = 15+3 = 18 Arrow 2[1d20 +3] = 10+3 = 13 Dmg 1[1d6] = 6 Dmg 2[1d6] = 5

whoops make this a round 2 I guess. :shock:
Long Bow Arrow 1[1d20 +3] = 18+3 = 21 Arrow 2[1d20 +3] = 9+3 = 12 Dmg 1[1d6] = 3 Dmg 2[1d6] = 1

Svent provided he can even see the orcs at this distance will try to help by launching a magic missile at one of the orcs with a ranged weapon.

Magic Missile[1d4 +1] = 2+1 = 3

To avoid crossbow bolts, Baruch immediately hides behind the wagon which is on the ferry. If she's within reach, he will drag Milli with him

Baruch's next action will be to (open up the side of, or crawl up on top of the wagon, to) try to find the oil flasks and whatever fabric items he finds first (tents ? blankets? bed rolls ?), in order to quickly fashion Molotov cocktails, light them and chuck them into the orc beach party. Anyone else aboard is of course welcome to follow his example

I am of course fully aware that Baruch might not know where all those items are packed on the wagon, and that this might take time. But hey, it's worth a shot

Titus will take the river bank on horseback.

20% to fall in river: [1d100] = 50
