Gurusql has let me redo my previous post, slight change of plan.

"Ask it / him, if it knows where the Ithilid Mind-Flayers are "
I can only concur with this sentiment in this bizarre encounter.Nah Olos "You still do not identify yourselves. AT this point, would it not be easier to just let us pass, before we attract something else to your doorstep? Or perhaps you secretly desire a confrontation, like the dragon in the woods we recently killed."
"Ask it / him, if it knows where the Ithilid Mind-Flayers are "

The Highway -
Moonday, 17th day of Planting, 597
12th day since leaving Loftwick
Qleceec (AC 1, HP 62/63)
Nah Olos (AC 4, HP 53/53)
Boff (AC 5, HP 61/61)
Siouxsie (AC 2, HP 48/48) (Continual Light rock)
Androgost (AC -6, HP 60/65, Armor 25/26) (Glowing Sword)
Garrant (AC 8, HP 49/50)
Hex (AC 0, HP 27/27, Armor 6/8) (Continual Light coin) (Alter Self: 12 + 3d4, Detect Illusion: 13)
Raffi (AC -1, HP 21/21, Armor 8/8) (Glowing Dagger)
Frannie (AC 4, HP 26/26)
Just trying to move this along
Nah Olos and Hex move out of the planned area of effect (both still hanging over the mud, Hex flying and Nah Olos is climbing walls)
Siousxie calls out the group "Ask it / him, if it knows where the Ithilid Mind-Flayers are?" and the voice calls back, "You have got to be kidding."
Garrant casts the Dispel Magic spell on the back 30' strip of the mud (see map) and it turns back to stone. There is still a 10'x10 piece of mud and of course the mud on Nah Olos. In addition, the Wall of Fire is dispelled by the spell.
The group hears a call from the tunnel (same voice), "Ismoos your time is up."
A torch-sized flame is "thrown" out into the corridor (see orange circle). The visual effect is that there was an invisible torch but the fire was visible and the torch was thrown into the corridor.
Parties action!

Nah Olos will move onto the first 10' of stone and draw his sword, watching the side corridor.

Re: Chapter 2: The Highway and Silver Spring
Hex asks Nah. Have you got any pitons so we can string a rope bridge across the pit and the others can cross at all?
Raffi calls out that he has three, and Hex will fly back and collect a couple from him once he has dug them out. Anyone with a hammer that the half-orc can use to pound them in?

Re: Chapter 2: The Highway and Silver Spring
So, she is 5'10" tall and needs 4 feet rise to Jump 20 feet horizontal according to the spell. So she should be able to safely Jump 21 feet horizontal in here (the spells max is 30 feet horizontal). She might get a little further but it would be risky.

Tricky whilst flying I think. And my strength isn’t the greatest. But maybe I am stronger in this formcybersavant wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 9:11 amNah Olos "In my backpack i have 20 and a hammer. I need to get on solid footing to dig them out, unless you can?"

Boff stands around unsure of what to do currently.

Frannie (AC 4, HP 26/26)
Nah Olos gets past the mud climbing on the wall.
Hex flies back and gets Raffi's spikes and then Nah Olos attached the rope and spikes attached from this side.
Qleceec talks about jumping over the pit and mud area, but does not choose to do it yet.
The rest of the group is waiting for this rope work to be completed.
Suddenly the fire in the hallway, begins to create a thick writhing stream of smoke and this choking cloud (which limits vision to about 2 feet)quickly fills all the areas in which the party is standing and or working.

I can 'Control Winds' which would create a gust to blow the smoke away but it seems a bit overkill to use a 5th level spell on such. Can another mage 'gust of wind' it away.
I am struggling to grasp why it is so difficult to cross a ten foot pit?
Using Stone Shape, I can affect 12 cubic feet of stone and earth, so that should be enough to create a narrow bridge or ledge over the pits and mud and using whatever left to close up the archway where the mage is hidden. The stony floor only needs to be a few inches in depth, enough to bear out weight so 1728m'sq.
Not sure how far I can project the shaping but certainly we should all manage to clear the pit and mud.

Re: Chapter 2: The Highway and Silver Spring
Hex has had enough of these creeps. Whilst the half-orc has the pitons in place and has tied off the ropes, he will draw forth his wand and place a wall of fire, cold side towards us, at the edge of the secret tunnel nearest us, running across the corridor we are in and along the wall nearest to us in the secret tunnel. If that makes sense.
