CHAPTER 14: Retrace the Tunnels

Silvestri
Silvestri heads over to check on Max, but he is careful not to touch Max's hands.

Re: CHAPTER 14: Retrace the Tunnels
Kurot is tempted to test whether the nodules created the same reaction in his non-biological systems, but sees no upside in it. Maybe if the party turns out to have a need to handle the nodules again, he can try then.
Instead, he joins Anton in trying to figure out the machines.

The Gam’A Zone 21D/82 (Evening)
As Max succumbs to the disturbing ailment, Denslow and Silvestri rush to his aid.
The Neuronaut begins to stabilize as the dizziness subsides but is too weak to stand. He remains conscious and alert, indicating caution to his friends. The glow of his hands gives way to dark blue strings of fluid that branch out from each palm and slowly inch their way up each forearm with a fractal pattern.
Max must roll a Fortitude Save against DC 15. (1d20+2 Base roll)
Denslow readies his anti-fungal paste, hoping it will counter this strange effect.
Usage die starts at 1d4
Anton sees familiarity in the visage before him. The blinking light is an indicator, sometimes good, sometimes bad. The color was dependent on what tribe manufactured the device. This unit controls another device.
Kurot recalls fragments from his deep memories of a time when such apparatus were common. Green, Amber and Red were the most prevalent colors. Green indicated positive or operational, yellow was nominal or caution and red meant danger or failure.
To discern more requires an Artifact Check.

Silvestri
I'm not sure if Silvestri's healing powers will help here as Max hasn't taken damage yet. But he will help Denslow apply the agent and use his psionic healing if he thinks it will help.

The Gam’A Zone 21D/82 (Evening)
Max senses the fluid tendrils burrowing tiny roots into his skin. He fights the invasive swarm with all his fortitude, preventing it from becoming anchored.
(Makes Save)
The creeping blue fractals continue to expand up his arms, wrapping around as they progress.
Silvestri concurs with Denslow that this warrants the application of the anti-fungal paste.
Usage die roll under Action Details
Both apply the compound, hasting to abate the tendril's advance! Silvestri will then assess if healing is necessary.
Denslow and Silvestri must make an Agility Save against DC 8

Re: CHAPTER 14: Retrace the Tunnels
We both failed? This could get ugly…

Re: CHAPTER 14: Retrace the Tunnels
I reconsidered what your action entailed. The paste on the applicant's hands will provide protection. The check was to see if one was able to apply the fungicide fast enough to stop the spread before the victim required another Fortitude save.
Denslow and Silvestri try their best to counter the spread of the fungal slime. Their initial effort fails to stop the spread, so another application is required.
Max must roll a Fortitude Save against DC 15.
Application of the paste requires another usage roll (1d4).
Denslow and Silvestri must make another Agility Save against DC 8.
Re: CHAPTER 14: Retrace the Tunnels
Denslow and Silvestri urgently apply the fungicide, halting the spindly slime's spread up Max's arms. Though the fungal growth stops advancing, Max can't prevent it from rooting into his skin.
The remaining tendrils begin siphoning sustenance from his body, causing Max to stabilize—yet he feels an unsettling connection to the strange infection.

While Denslow and Silvestri tend to Max, Kurot continues trying to puzzle out the flashing lights.

Re: CHAPTER 14: Retrace the Tunnels
Max wonders at the new sensation.
Re: CHAPTER 14: Retrace the Tunnels
Denslow nods, That’s the best we can do, I’m afraid. Let’s see what this room holds while Max fights that infection. He takes another look at the room, tracking Kurot’s eyes to whatever he’s examining.

The Gam’A Zone 21D/82 (Evening)
Kurot and Anton work together to uncover the purpose of the ancient enclosure. Their careful analysis pays off, and they succeed in understanding its function. (Successful artifact check)
They determine that the metal cabinet regulates water flow within a triple piping system, likely connected to the exposed pipes in the adjacent chamber. It appears one could control or shut off the liquid flow here.
Denslow observes their success closely, watching with keen anticipation.

Re: CHAPTER 14: Retrace the Tunnels
Denslow avoids the ochre mold as he heads to the tall boxes. He examines the nearest one trying to make heads or tails of the ancient technology.
Perhaps if we turn off the water the waterfall will cease and then we can examine the pit in the larger chamber below, he suggests.
