Flores Point near Tanapag on the North West Coast of the island of Saipan; 12:25, 6 July, 1944

In the hot, humid air of a Summer Day in the Western Pacific on the island of Saipan, even hotter conflict took the combatants minds off the heat and humidity and their sweat-soaked uniforms.....

Shortly after the Imperial Japanese Army solider wielding the Type 96 LMG had cut loose a burst of 6.5mm rounds, he drew a withering response of fire from several of the Talents and Marines in the area, including a .30 caliber round from Senior Chief Roker's Carbine that wounded him and then a fatal .303 caliber round from Gurung's Enfield Rifle that hit his head and dropped him to the ground, never to rise again.....

Major Acme moved to engage one of the IJA Carbine Wielders as he moved to attempt to get to his fallen companion's LMG and he fired a well-aimed 5 round burst from his Thompson SMG that stitched across the man's torso and took him out and then a moment later, the veteran Marine Officer was howling in pain and clutching his back as he felt like a combination of being punched in the lower shoulder and stung by a bee drove him face-down to the ground. He realized quickly he had been shot in the back by the sniper and then he was lucky as the round had 'skipped' off his shoulder blade. It still hurt like hell though*.....

Both Coastguardsman Elias Tucker and Marine Saul Rabinowitz noticed the VERY SLIGHT muzzle flash from the sniper's Scoped Arisaka Rifle and a moment later, Acme was on the ground, yelling in pain. They could see the sniper knew what he was doing as the position was over 200 yards away and WELL hidden in some rocks.......it was gonna be TOUGH to hit THAT target.....

*Acme is Wounded (-1D to all actions until treated)

Elias remaining invisible, checks the wind, pops a smoke grenade and throws it so the smoke will continue between his group and the sniper.

"Going west."

Elias starts running toward the sniper.

Acme

"Bastard!" He hisses between teeth. "Leave it to a talent to shoot a guy in the back."

"Get that last guy in the nest! We need to press forward!" He'll reposition to protect his rear and try to get a shot at the remaining carbine guys.

Saul activates his camouflage and drags Acme to the best cover he can find for him. He moves forward and to the side to flank the sniper's position, hoping to get within 50 yards of him.

Flores Point near Tanapag on the North West Coast of the island of Saipan; 12:30 PM, 6 July, 1944

The Talents of SST 4 and the half-dozen 'regular' Marines under LT Moseley's command that were with them broke into two groups as the battle against the IJA force that had re-captured Flores Point continued to rage.....

Rifleman Gurung raced forward towards the now un-manned Japanese LMG position, involuntarily ducking his head a bit as the last Carbine-equipped Japanese solider fired a shot at him that just narrowly missed his head.....

Wincing from the pain in his back, Major Acme took aim at the IJA Carbine solider firing at a racing forward Gurung but his 5 shot burst was spoiled by Saul Rabinowitz suddenly grabbing him and dragging him to some solid cover before the SUPER camouflaged Marine then began to race towards the Japanese Unit 781 Talent Sniper's position....

LT Moseley gave quick orders to his men...."Appelton, try to get somebody on the Horn to send us some more reinforcements and stay here with Ziering who can help cover you. Gunny Campbell, take Waters and Falk and charge that section and take out those two Riflemen" "Aye-aye El-tee" the grizzled NCO replied while nodding to Riflemen Waters and Falk and he just said, "You heard the man....you wanna live forever? CHARGE!" and the trio did just that.....

Moseley turned to say something to Acme when the IJA Talent sniper's Arisaka fired again and the Marine Officer dropped in a heap.....a read hole in the side of his head.....

CPL Saul Rabinowitz quickly looked around as his Camo Talent Power was activated and he took on the colors of the area all around him and he dragged Acme to a nice little spot between a couple of boulders just as his C.O. was firing his Thompson. That done, he raced towards the rocky hill where the Flying Talent Sniper had landed and he saw a tiny flash from a well-hidden position and the LT leading the group of survivors they had found dropped to the ground. He also saw a cloud of white smoke forming ahead of them and realized Tucker had thrown his smoke grenade.....

Coastguardsman Elias Tucker 'primed' his Smoke Grenade and hurled it forward, watching it start to billow out a thick cloud of smoke as the Sniper fired again and a moment later poor Moseley was no more. Cursing internally, the Invisible Tucker raced forward, seeing the barely-make-him-out Saul doing the same thing.....

Senior Chief Roker hear the ill-fated Moseley's command to Radioman Appleton and as the PFC was starting to use the back-pack Radio to attempt to call for reinforcements, he aslo saw the poor LT drop to the ground from a head shot. Tucker and Saul were working on taking out the Sniper; it looked like everyone else was moving forward.....what to do, what to do.....

Gunny Campbell and PFCs Waters and Falk charged forward towards two IJA Riflemen and both started to raise their Arisaka Rifles when Frank Queen cut loose a series of bursts from his modified Lewis Gun and dropped both of them....enjoying a moment of shocked awed at his marksmanship from the Marines with a smart-ass, "SOME of us Swabbies are better shots than you Marines....", all while charging forward with them....

*Okay, so Acme has been placed in a nice spot between two boulders, Gurung and a bunch of NPCs to include Talent Frank Queen and Marines Campbell, Waters and Falk are racing forward where a lone IJA soldier with a Carbine remains.

At the original position near the Bunker are Roker (I wasn't sure what you wanted him to do), the wounded NPC PFC Ziering and the Radioman NPC PFC Appleton.

Finally, moving towards the IJA Talent Sniper's position are Saul Rabinowitz and Elias Tucker.

"Dammit, too late! Too damn late!" Saul thinks as he sees Mosley fall. His infamous hotheaded temper rises. He charges toward the sniper's position, hoping to get a clear shot on him at around 50 yards range. "If I can't get a clear shot, I'll close until I can frag his sniping ass!" he thinks.

Acme

He opens his mouth to complain about being pulled away just as Moseley falls in front of him. "Thanks Saul."

Marvin tries his best to keep Appleton and Ziering together. "Get that radio going!" He tries to estimate the position of the sniper and keep everyone under cover.

Roker looks toward Appleton and Zering, trying to figure out if they need help operating the damn radio. If not Roker, moves with Rabinowitz and Tucker towards the sniper's position.

Flores Point near Tanapag on the North West Coast of the island of Saipan; 12:35 PM, 6 July, 1944

In the early afternoon heat of a Summer day on the Pacific island of Saipan, a vicious battle continued to rage between the Allied Forces and those of Imperial Japan.....

Rifleman Gurung raced forward towards the last visible IJA soldier, armed with a Carbine and the Gurkha took a shot with his Enfield Rifle on the run. He was annoyed to see his shot JUST miss and then a bit of nervousness passed over him as he saw the man aim his way, but relief washed over him as he saw Gunner's Mate Queen take the solider out with a burst from his modified Lewis Gun. Then Gurung's attention was caught by watching a pair of Japanese soldiers, maybe 100 yards away and behind some makeshift cover dropping a shell down a Type 89 'Knee Mortar' and the whining sound of the projectile washed over him and he could see it arc up and over his position and come down relatively close to where Acme and some of the others were....

Major Acme, hissing a bit in pain from his wound, did his best to direct the 3 members of his Team who were angling to take care of the IJA Talent Sniper who was behind them when the whining sound of a Japanese Type 89 'grenade discharger'....better known as a 'Knee Mortar', was fired and the round was coming down very close to his position. He ducked into the boulder strew position that Saul had just placed him in and the round went off fairly close by. He looked over and saw that Appleton and Ziering were very shaken up as the round had JUST missed them.....and worse, the shrapnel had torn the Radio to pieces....

Senior Chief Roker decided to engage the Enemy Sniper that had taken up position behind them and he saw...kinda....a well camoflauged Saul Rabinowitz race forward towards the Sniper's position in the rocky hill nearby and he KNEW the Invisible Elias Tucker was doing the same somewhere near by. He raced forward towards some cover, keeping a tight grip on his Carbine and wincing when the crack of the Arisaka Rifle being fired hit his ear drums, but he let out a sigh of relief when he realized he wasn't hit. He dove down behind the cover....an old artillery shell-hole and glancing over, he saw the no-longer hard to see form of Saul on one knee, bleeding from his arm and realized he had been hit. Looking back towards the rocky hill, he saw what he THOUGHT was a glint off something metal, perhaps 180 yards away.....from between some rocks....but he wasn't sure....

Saul Rabinowitz, getting angry about the Sniper picking off his fellow Marines, raced forward, his Talent Power helping him to blend into the nearby surroundings. However, the IJA Talent Sniper must've seen something, because he fired and a moment later Saul tripped and feel to one knee as his left arm took a round through-and-through his bicep......it hurt like hell, but he could tell it had luckily missed the major arteries. Still, his Talent Power was now 'off' and hitting the Talent with his Rifle was now going to be even tougher.....

Elias Tucker raced forward, feeling the strain of keepign his Invisibility Talent Power active start to hit him, but there was no indication the Enemey Talent was looking his way. In his peripheral vision, he could see that Saul and Roker were also advancing towards the Sniper's Position. Watching carefully, he saw the flash of Arisaka Rifle fire from a very good, well protected position and he saw Saul get hit and wounded...but he was clearly still on his feet. He had a shot, but it would be a tough one.....170 yards at least.....and in between some boulders......it would be something to tell tall tales about if he could pull it off.....

To Queen's Right and even further from Gurung, Gunny Campbell led Marines Falk and Waters in a charge towards the Japanese position surrounding Florest Point. They were utterly shocked when a Japanese Talent who had his hands around a pair of IJA Troops right next to him suddenly let his Power go and the three of them suddenly became visible on the flank of the three Marines, less than 10 yards away. Both of the IJA troopers were armed with bayonet equipped Arisaka Rifles and they charged and stabbed them into Campbell and Waters. Poor Waters was speared through the chest and he dropped his Garand and clutched his fatal wounds before falling on his face and gurgling out his last breaths while Campbell grabbed the Rifle stock of the weapon that had speared him and pulled his .45 pistol with his other hand....

"I'm taking you to hell with me, you bas$%rd!" he hissed out and shot the IJA trooper in the face, felling him, before he too collapse onto the ground, never to rise again. The Unit 781 armband wearing Talent, pulled a Type 100 SMG that had been on a strap over his shoulder and he fired a burst of 8mm rounds into PFC Falk and dropped the unlucky Marine to the ground. Nearby, Queen reacted to the sudden assault by spinning and trying to bring his beloved Lewis gun into the mix......

OOC: Okay, Saul is Wounded and his Talent Power is inactive from the shock of the Wound. Tucker's Invis Power CAN be maintained, but it will start to count as Actions and rolls will need to be made (with optional Will Power Point expenditure) if you wish to remain Invisible.....the shot he's looking at is a Difficulty 20+ shot.....

Acme is aware of all the threats.......the 2 IJA mortar guys way off who just starting shelling them; the Invis Bubble Talent and surviving IJA solider near Queen who are about 60 yards away from him AND the Sniper behind him.

Roker, Tucker and Saul are really only aware of the Sniper right now......and Gurung (and Queen) are really only aware of the Invis Talent and his IJA Trooper buddy (about 15 yards from Queen and about 40 from Gurung) and the two Mortar men who are about 100 yards away and in some cover....

Gurung will engage his energy kukri and armor as he charges the talent.

Spending enough will to guarantee his kukri and armor engage.

Acme

"Blast!" Marvin shouts as the radio appears beyond repair. "New plan. We get to the base and use theirs!" He directs the group with him to get on their feet and rush towards Queen. "Now or never boys!"

He will direct Appleton and Ziering to zig zag across towards Queen and Gurung, firing at the invisible bubble pair.

Saul feels his talent power fade. He stands, runs to the nearest cover, and drops. The takes aim at the concealed sniper, trying to take a good, relaxed, steady shot.

Flores Point near Tanapag on the North West Coast of the island of Saipan; 12:40 PM, 6 July, 1944

In the muggy heat of mid-day Summer on the Pacific island of Saipan, a battle continued to rage.....

Senior Chief Roker fired a shot from his M1 Carbine at the Sniper's position, not really coming close to hitting where he saw the glint of the sun catching the metal of the barrel, but he WAS alarmed to see that barrel swing his way.....

CPL Saul Rabinowitz, taking a deep breath and doing his best to ignore the pain of his arm wound, took careful aim with his M1 Garand at the Japanese Talent Sniper's position and fired a well aimed shot that JUST missed the Unit 781 soldier's position and causing a bit of rock and dust to fly up into the air.....

Coastguardsman Elias Tucker, ignoring his own wound and calling on any divine beings or spirits that might be out there to aid him, took careful aim with his Scoped Springfield Rifle at the IJA Talent Sniper's excellent position and letting the breath go, he stroked the trigger. He was DELIGHTED to see his shot strike home and a moment later, the scoped Arisaka Rifle fell out of lifeless hands and clattered amongst some rocks.....

Major Marvin Acme, doing his best to ignore his wounds, rose up and charged forwards towards a pair of Japanese troops, one of whom was wearing the distinctive armband of Unit 781, identifying him as a Talent. As he did so, he called for a pair of Marines named Appleton and Ziering to follow him and then did so, though they were caught a bit flat-footed, so they were a good 5 yards behind him. As he rushed forward, the veteran Marine Talent Team Leader fired a burst from his Thompson SMG and he caught the 'normal' IJA Rifleman across the chest with his 5 shot burst and saw his target spin around in a half-circle and crumple to the ground in an unmoving heap.....

Rifleman Gurung raced forward, calling on his deep reserve of willpower and turning his entire body scaly and armored and summoning a glowing, purple 'kukhuri' blade in one hand as he activated his Talent Powers and knocked poor Frank Queen out of the way as he got close to his target, the Unit 781 Talent who could generate an Invisibility Bubble. The Talent saw him and swung his Type 100 SMG towards the Gurkha soldier and he fired a burst of 8mm rounds that slammed into and bounced off, though they left reddish-purple 'bruises' on Gurung's scaled body. In return, Gurung swung his energy blade and he was a bit annoyed to watch it slice the SMG in half, but miss the IJA Talent's Body completely.....

Finally, the 'Knee Mortar' fired again and a shell screamed in and exploded just behind poor Ziering, knocking him to the ground with a shredded back and Appleton wheeling around and racing to his fallen friend yelling out "CORPSMAN!"

Elias yells to his friend.

"Saul, you alright??"

Assuming he gets a affirmative, he will head back, halting just short of coming out of the smoke and look at the scene, checking where he might be needed.

Saul yells back to Tucker, A-OK, Elias. Nice shot! He moves with Elias back toward the group to see where he might be helpful or needed. And a medic's care for his arm wouldn't be bad either.
