So a thief cannot disable the traps and we can move them?

I moved the post on areas of effect etc. over to the OOC thread.

Since transmute rock to mute doesn't appear feasible in this situation, will you be going ahead with the rope idea?

Mason is standing in the upper doorway with the rope and loop ready, just need a little assistance.

Xale heads over to assist Mason in any way he needs.

At Mason's behest, Xale loops the noose of the rope around the crystal box. Everyone backs well away. Mason pulls the rope...
...and arrows fly up out of the bottom of the chest! Fortunately, no one had his hands in the chest to retrieve the crystal box, so no one is injured.
The crystal box does not appear to be trapped.
One chest remains...

"Good job sir! Now let's try that again with the other chest, eh?" When everyone is settled from the last experience and ready to react - Malibran attempts to pry open the lid of the last box with his staff.

Mason continues to pull the rope, retrieving the box and stashing it away in his bag.

Malibran, flush with the success of safely retrieving loot from the second chest, pries open the lid of the third with his staff.
Snakes. It had to be snakes.
Out of the chest slither 12 large asps. Very dangerous. And very fast.
Actions! Someone please roll initiative.

Elsa the Fair / battling snakes
"Aigh! Arrghh!" with a yipe of snake-dislike and then a growl of anger, Elsa the Fair leaps into action. The quiet half-orc swordswoman sees the number of asps and thinks an oil flame attack will hurt the most at once.
From the far corner of the room she has a clear shot into the middle of the asp group. She hurls the oil then follows with the torch she's holding.

Isn't an oil attack usually a two-round attack? One to throw the oil, and another for the torch?

OK. Elsa will throw the oil and ask Malvexa to toss the torch (though I haven't read the whole history of posts, I saw she took out a torch on page three of the Ch. 2 thread.) If she doesn't have a torch now, I'll throw one next round assuming it won't light other party members on fire too.

Got it. With two people, toss & light can happen in one round, but lighting will happen at the end of the round.
I still need a (vey important) initiative roll.

Elsa is linked into my dice roller now. Initiative [1d6] = 3
Oil throw [1d20] = 7 Hits AC 5, but its just the middle of the asp pack area.

If Malvexa still has a torch in hand; she will definitely throw the torch at the snake-pile. If any rolls are needed; please let me know!

Please do roll a to-hit roll. Thanks!

Xale looks over to his strong, silent, right-hand Dwarf and says; "Throw that torch on those oil-soaked snakes Malvexa!"; and with a grim-faced nod; she does so.
OOC: Straight d20 roll; I don't believe she has any modifiers: [1d20] = 13

Zoster strikes the snakes with his staff:
Staff of Striking (double specializ, STR bonus, ThAC0 12) - To hit: [1d20+7] = 20+7 = 27, Damage (s/m): [1d6+4] = 3+4 = 7, Damage (L): [1d6+4] = 5+4 = 9
Staff of Striking (double specializ, STR bonus, ThAC0 12) - To hit: [1d20+7] = 13+7 = 20, Damage (s/m): [1d6+4] = 4+4 = 8, Damage (L): [1d6+4] = 5+4 = 9
Assuming his wolf companion also attacks (if necessary and possible Zoster would be giving the relevant command) here is the roll:
Staff of Striking (double specializ, STR bonus, ThAC0 12) - To hit: [1d20+7] = 13+7 = 20, Damage (s/m): [1d6+4] = 4+4 = 8, Damage (L): [1d6+4] = 5+4 = 9
