Re: The Bathhouse
Ambergris
Well he might probably say "F@#£ me." in surprise of course rather than a command but having asked Yorrick, he will repeat the question to the newborn bones.
"You want to tell me about Myrkul's plans? Share a few secrets. Rise up and be counted for the good people of Baldur's Gate. Redeem your soul? Tell me where the gold is hidden? Help the Cat and Lizard and pirate to stop these cultists who killed you?"
He points down the corridor to Cat and Lizard, (I figure description rather than names will help undead recognise us).
"Help us defeat the Myrkul and Bane cults. We will interr you in honour when you fulfill your destiny. Rising up to be counted as a posthumous hero of Baldur's Gate. Right number one, lead the way, number two and three follow."
He pats the skull of Yorrick, putting it back on the alter.

Re: The Bathhouse
The skeletons stand motionless as Ambergris talks and asks questions of them...but when he points in the direction of Tommy and Lesh, the three undead turn and walk toward them. They ignore the tabaxi and lizardman and wait for Ambergris at the bottom of the stairs.
The ceiling of the flooded room ahead is supported by numerous wooden beams. The air here smells like rotten eggs, a putrid stench that carries beyond the room.
(Wisdom checks please)

Shrugs, at least the undead have a little perception to understand hand and hook gestures. Stopping at the stairs he motions them forward to investigate the doors, mindful of the rickety rafters. I guess they won't mind the stench being used to that.
flooded chamber? Ankle deep, knee deep, above waist high. Could something be hiding in the water?

Tommy is surprised te skeletons seems to obey Ambergris commands but glad they can be used to good use, also that they are taking point and lets them walk ahead
he stays behind following the team (10 to 15 feet), the unseen servant a few feet ahead of him

Lesh is surprised Ambergris isn't attacking the undead. The evil creatures must have taken over his mind! Emitting a low clicking "ka-ka-ka..." he raises his weapon to strike the first skeleton and save the old sea captain.

Ambergris
"No wait, let them search unhindered. The Lord of the Dead has raised them up to aid us in time of need."
He gestures to Lesh if he can placate him from striking the skeleton down. I am not sure of any magic I triggered beyond investigating the skull or perhaps lighting a candle. At least if the witch is ahead they might be useful against her as long as she can't command them as undead?

Lesh nods and lowers his weapon to his side. After the skeletons pass he falls in behind them still keeping a warry eye on the surroundings.

Re: The Bathhouse
Ambergris is about to following the skeletons into the passage with murky water when he sniffs loudly, getting a good whiff of the sulfuric odor coming off the water. Except it isn't sulfur...it's gas...and he's carrying a lantern with an open flame.Spearmint wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 7:39 pm Ambergris

I can douse the lantern and snuff out the black candles, invoking my Eldritch invocation 'Devil's Sight' so that he can see in both normal and magical darkness.
Is the gas a generic product of the sewage or being pumped into the room from a pipe or vent?
He communicates by clapping and gestures to get the skeletons attention and tells them to open the door in the left (west), hoping that will dilute any toxic cloud by spreading it and thinning it out.

Re: The Bathhouse
Tommy sees the skeletons pass and raised an eyebrow to Lesh as he shrugs his shoulders and nods to follow behind
Seeing Ambergris taking precautions and dissipating the gas he instructs the unseen servant to help Lesh navigate the darkness as it overtakes and moves ahead with urgency trying to get out of the gas as fast as he can thinking it could be a trap
moves ahead and looks for an exit to continue deeper in to the dungeon

Lesh holds on to McCoy's cloak and moves out of the room with the skeletons cursing in his head while holding his breath.

Re: The Bathhouse
They manage to wade into another long chamber and finally onto dry ground with a few steps rising up into a dry corridor running east...a long hallway with alcoves and doors, that eventually ends in a door about 60' away...
Everything is eerily quiet.

Ambergris
Whistles to the skeletons.
"Follow me boys.". He waves them to follow, going after Tommy and Lesh.
so, what can we do with them? Arm them with a weapon each to defend us? That necromancy might not do so favourably with Lesh. What is Leah's faith concerning undead.
I am trying to think of a better use for them than just a meat-free shield.
Do they express any knowledge or recognition of these passages? Or of the Dead 3 cults?

Re: The Bathhouse
Did ol Hook Hand light the lamp? Lesh would normally destroy any undead but I think you invoked Kelevenmor so he leaves them alone and follows Tommy.
Re: The Bathhouse
I lit some of the black candles and I have my lantern on dimly if that is what you mean. My initial feeling is they don't talk but just stand around chattering teeth and following basic orders. Ah, that witch was trying to animate the corpse to be a zombie perhaps and Ambergris did it with Yorrick's skull. (Which he still carries).Did ol' Hook Hand light the lamp?
I am assuming that having asked Yorrick (his name for the person of the skull) to help reveal Myrkul's plans, find some gold and defeat the murderous cultists, that is the motivational force that imbues them to function.
Or a black candle, which he has a few more of stuffed in his pouch.
Re: The Bathhouse
Lesh lights a candle off of one of Ambergris' candles before hunching and moving forward as stealthy even as Big Cat. He glances into the 1st alcove on his right and shines the feeble light around - down, left, right, and up (assuming its collapsed). He proceeds to the 2nd alcove on his right and shines the flickering light around. He again looks down, left, right, and up before, with a wicked grin, grabbing a skeleton and pushing it toward the door. If nothing happens he will look over the door, listen for sounds, look signs of recent use, and smell for fresh, or not so fresh, air.

Re: The Bathhouse
They don't seem to express any type of recognition at all...except for Ambergris who called them forth.
Lesh lights a candle and heads down the hallway, along with McCoy and one of the skeletons. The alcoves are empty except for rubble. The first door on the right is slightly ajar and can be shoved open...
Much of this room has fallen in, with the debris field mostly burying a stone sarcophagus.
Winter is coming...

Tommy takes a peek over Lesh shoulder
hell another cript...
he still hopes to find Auruyan somewhere, rough up maybe but alive
if there's some undead just lock it, let's keep moving, we'll figure it out, the necrolady is still somewhere out there
he moves down the corridor to the last door to continue and listens before opening it
Perception: [1d20+4]=2+4=6
