I did forget that.Arnwulf and Maggie saw that Pranit had a medikit attached to his fancy vacc suit.

Re: Asides and Public Discussion about the game (Part 1)
Was asked about SMG recoil effects in local gravity
note:-
I just did the maths.
Assuming you have to lean 5 degrees in 1G to absorb the recoil, at 0.1G you have to lean 61 degrees for the same effect and at 0.05 degrees, leaning doesn't work.
So you need to ensure the recoil passes through your centre of gravity and is absorbed by ground-friction through surface contact
Pranit's ability to accurately fire an automatic shotgun while flying a Vacc-Suit is close to miraculous! (Firing one-handed with the other balancing the flight-controls)
Arnwulf's withdrawal into the shadows after every auto-rifle shot isn't voluntary!

Sorry about the delays in the latest posts...we lost our internet connectivity all yesterday afternoon.
As you may have gathered, it is now back.

Could you just clarify for me please, how many men are in the bay still shooting at the ship. One group or two and where are they in relation to Arnwulf.
If I rappel down the rope to the passenger airlock, can I make that in one round and will I be exposed to incoming fire while I descend?

Re: Asides and Public Discussion about the game (Part 1)
On the bay roof you can see about 6 on the walkway on the edge of the bottom roof-panel; and about 3 on the walkway on the top roof-panel. The panels are nearly 3m apart and moving wider, slowly (about 10cm/round if they move at all)
Of the six on the bottom panel, Two have torch beams - both shining in your direction but really just enhancing the shadow in which you are hiding. The other four are taking pot shots at you when they see something of interest. They are mostly bouncing bullets off the bridge roof or crew-rea roof beyond your position
Of the three on the top panel, two are shooting towards Pranit and Maggie and are moving to get a better angle as they vanish into the airlock. The third is just watching.
Where the rest are is not clear. You can't see from below.
n.b. The roof isn't solid, but a lattice grid of metal and grav-generator cells. Apart from the walkways, standing on the roof is like walking on a cattle-grid with thinner rails and larger holes. There are 4 ropes from the top-walkway to the bridge roof and 4 ropes from the bottom walkway to past the passenger airlock.
As to rappelling down - yes you can head down the rope and yes you can be fired at while you do so.

Re: Asides and Public Discussion about the game (Part 1)
Noor is indeed feeling the effects of the chaos.
I am enjoying the chaos, even if it's not intentional. It feels right in this situation.
I think all the different terms we're using to signify comms are contributing.
If the only communications we have available are the internal ship intercoms, then that's what I'll work with.
Sometimes it seems that we can use phones or personal comms, but not consistently.
Are there external speakers on the Queen? A way to broadcast out to the surrounding area?

Re: Asides and Public Discussion about the game (Part 1)
There are on board:-
- The queen's orbit to ground radio. Very powerful but currently off. This could possibly contact the Control Tower or other ships with some hiss and a good comms roll.
- An internal radio network run through earpieces found on the bridge. These have a potential range of about 1km and are currently jammed. Neural comms could be configured as part of this network. They work to communicate to the queen's network (see below) but have very bad (earsplitting) hiss when they do. Vacc Suit radios can be used in this same way.
- The police radios. These connect to the local fibre-net for transmission onwards. But that net has been cut. Can get direct connection to other police radios within 500m with little hiss.
- Phones. As police radios but using different encryption protocols. Same issues, more hissy, but the good-comms range is nearer 30m.
- Internal voice network in the Queen. Functional (with loud speaker option as used by Indrani/Tiberius) but subject to monitoring via the attacker's hacker.
- Direct fibre connection to the phone network. Currently disconnected - and anyway that network has been cut.
- Ulrika's Drone. UHF digitised and encrypted hardened transmitter for journalistic video. Allows good comms from Ulrika to drone and back.

No more posts from me until Friday...If you can all have your actions for Combat turn 10 (and a plan for turn 11+) I'll be grateful!
Current Summary
Current Summary
- Arnwulf pinned down on the crew-deck roof using the bridge as shelter
- Maggie rescuing Pranit in the Crew Airlock and Pranit in need of first aid
- Noor trying to organise the visitors effectively
- Tiberius trying to talk to the attackers from the Library
- Indrani with Tiberius
- Nalani stalking about on the Cargo-Deck roof trying to find the (presumed) hacker
- Reven in the Power-Room having just powered up the ship

Arnwulf actions determined by if he manages to shoot the spotlights out or not. He would get off the roof and try to re-enter the ship via the passenger airlock.

Thanks - A 2-year-old and a 6-year-old are so much more tiring when they are grand-children. I'm thinking about what the Fire-Extinguishing method on a ship would be...Stirling wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 8:52 pm Tiberius
Are there any fire extinguishers about? If so I would like to collect them to place by the door in order to shoot them as an improvised explosive device as the intruders exit the lift. I possibly anticipate that anyone in the lift may also be equipped with stun grenades or rifles do want to see what physical we can do to overpower them.
Set the sprinklers off to douse them with water and attach an electric lead to them?
- Water Extinguisher/Sprinkler seems very worrying because of the electrical circuitry like Everywhere and sprinklers rely on gravity to get it to the right place
- CO2 in an enclosed space just seems dangerous - You'd have to flood the entire compartment
- Halon in an enclosed space just seems dangerous - Ditto
- Vacuum just seems dangerous - but very available - Ditto
- Dry-Powder (or equivalent) - Good to a point
- Fire-blanket - Also Good to a point - but doesn't it rely on Gravity to work?

Fire fighting is dry chemical, and then vent to vacuum...BackworldTraveller wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 9:21 pmI'm thinking about what the Fire-Extinguishing method on a ship would be...Stirling wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 8:52 pm Tiberius

Interestingly water was a common fire extinguisher on spacecraft for a while, but venting air is always the best option.
