CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
Denslow leads the walk back to the carriages so we can drive back to the Morlock area to get Farmanus' stuff.

Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
“Let us rest until morning. We can leave then prepared for the underground dwellers,” suggests Denslow.

Tunnel Complex, 299D/81 (Night)
Leaving the blinking light devices unmolested on the tunnel floor, Denslow, MacMak, Belial, Farmanus and Silvestri arrive back at the turntable room. Once there, Farmanus emphasizes the need for his equipment and you agree to continue the night’s rest and return to the morlock area in the morning.
After settling back into the travel pods, the watch schedule resumes. Shortly into the next shift, Silvestri and MacMak hear a chopped whirling sound echoing out of the turntable chamber. The sentries wake the others and you collectively listen at the noise which begins to build somewhere down the west tunnel. Another sound joins the slowly growing volume of haunting reverberation; a loud 'buzz' followed by a sharp 'pop'. A burst of light from the west tunnel coincides with these sounds.
Belial whiffs a new scent trickling into his senses. This odor is like the smell after a lighting storm that most of you have experienced. The winged baboon is not sure where the source of this odor is located, but the intensity is slowly building.

Denslow agrees. I wonder if the lights are connected with that. It seems to be. I'm going to check it out.
Denslow will travel by root to the juncture and peer down the west tunnel.

Tunnel Complex, 299D/81 (Night)
Denslow and Silvestri creep forward to enter the turntable chamber and peer down the western rail tunnel. The pulsing illuminations from the “light buckets” have been overwhelmed by a new source; a bright white-blue ball of shimmering luminance at the far end of the western tunnel. Flickering bolts of lightning undulate between the hovering ball and the artificial stone of the oval rail tunnel. Occasionally a bolt will connect with one of the metal rails, and a rope of energy will lick the surface and rapidly travel up and down the tube. Residual streams roil all the way to the end of the rail at the edge of the turntable chamber, dissipating into the air. The ball is slowly moving towards your position, emanating a harrowing, whooping whirl as it travels forward. You estimate the diameter of the sphere to be around ten feet.
As the mass of energy approaches one of the blinking lights, positioned hundreds of feet down the west tunnel, the light quickly glows with intensity and produces a ‘buzz’ sound just before it ‘pops’ in a short, brilliant explosion. A sweet, pungent odor stings your olfactory organs. The reverberating sphere floats towards the next light bucket, as if following a trail of breadcrumbs; the haunting echo becoming more and more pronounced.

Silvestri
"That's not good. It looks like it's attracted to the ancient artifacts. If we stay in the travel pods we'll be in danger, we need to either abandon them, or move them away, but we don't know how far it's willing to travel for"
Norjax, could we have a quick map please

Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
Denslow makes haste to return to the pods, his branches swaying as his roots and tentacles ambulate him along, and tells the others what he has seen. We should seek shelter in the station, I think. Perhaps the pods are safe, but perhaps not. I do not know where the lightning ball will head next, if towards us to to the morlocks or even down the corridor to the north.
All I can assure you is this, you do not want to take shelter beneath my branches...
The ancients had pretty wicked, cool vermin control, it seems

Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
"Do this ball of energy follow a particular path? I mean, does it look attracted to a particular thing? Maybe we can lure ir to the morlocks", say MacMak, a bit nervous
Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
Silvestri
"How about we take refuge in the north part of the station, away from the fight we had with the insects? We should deactivate the pods before we leave, it may stop the creature coming this way, or harming the pods"

Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
"I recommend a hasty retreat on the pods," says Kurot. "The ball of energy is moving slowly; we can easily outrun it on the pods. I trust distance more than I trust that the energy sphere will stay away from us."
Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
Farmanus the Unneeded
With Denslow and Silvestri on one side of the argument and MacMak and Kurot on the other, Farmanus recognises it is up to him to make a critical decision.
"Hmm... well, there are many factors to consider...", he stalls while unsubtly eyeballing Bruce and Belial.

Re: CHAPTER 9: Return to the Tunnels, Part II
Denslow says, If we retreat using the pods, we take ourselves further from Farmanus' equipment, as we need to take the other transport to get to the home of the morlocks. And the ball of energy may chase us from this place. If we are to complete Farmanus' request, we ought to stay nearby and let the energy ball pass.
