Agreed, Agrom should be leader but let Harlan go first, since that not only seems the best choice mechanically, but it makes since within the narrative. I've got Will 5 and that's it, so it would actually behoove us to have only the two of you take actions, since one of you would get to act twice; however, in have my Foolhardy trait, and I plan on using it if I can to get some more checks!

Just to make sure everything's going straight: the leader will choose three actions for the round (privately) and assign them amongst us, then as each of our actions comes up we're responsible for describing how we go about it, yes?

That is correct overall. I'll have selected the crows' actions in advance and the captain will PM me their selection of actions and who will be responsible for performing them. Since there are three of you, each of you has to perform one action per round until one of you is taken out of the fight. I'll reveal each action in turn and whose turn it is. Feel free to discuss in advance of sulldawga sending me the setup of actions, however.

First things first, though--Agrom needs to decide whether to use his Fighter or his Hunting as the base for the disposition roll. I'll allow Fighter or Hunting as Helps for Fighter, and Fighter, Hunting or Lore Master as helps for Hunting.

Agrom will use Hunter as the base for the disposition roll. That way, everyone can help.

Sounds good. Harlan will help with Hunter.

Harlan Wax

Harlan double checks his sling, tests his footing and and the wind up on the stairs. He might only get one shot and he'll be damned if he doesn't make it count. Looking down at Agrom and Raizenbrayne, he whispers and gestures, trying to get them into position. He hopes to flush the crows towards his companions.

Raizenbrayne, Who Is Unforeseen
Raizenbrayne will help with Lore Master

Raizenbrayne gets his dagger ready for whatever events might occur, and speaks out to no one in particular:

'Don't forget, we're dealing with crows, not wishy-washy pidgeons who can't make up their minds which direction to fly. Make sure to aim straight ahead of their flight paths! There's a reason for the old adage, "Straight as the crow flies," you know.'

OK, Agrom go ahead and make a Hunter check at +3D (+1D Fresh and +1D for each bit of help).

Sorry for the couple of error rolls on the dice roller. Been a while since I played on this forum.

I think these are the results we're looking for. Four successes, right?

[1d6] = 4, [1d6] = 2, [1d6] = 4, [1d6] = 4, [1d6] = 5, [1d6] = 3

Yes!

That makes 6 disposition vs. 7 for the crows. It works out to 2hp per party member.

Go ahead and consult on your series of three actions (attack, defend, maneuver and feint) and shoulda wag go ahead and pm the sequence and actor list when you feel satisfied with your discussion. I will have my sequence set before I read it. I assume everyone is using the weapon they already had readied unless I hear otherwise.

Current disposition:
Harlan 2
Agrom 2
Brayne 2
Crows 7

First Action: Agrom has selected Harlan to attack. Since this is a Capture conflict, Attack actions test Fighter, and only the base skill may be used to help.

Harlan, describe your attack, and others can describe how they help once that's done. It's unopposed since you have the element of surprise, and you'll get +1s once you roll since these crows are Might 2.

Harlan Wax

Harlan wets a hairy finger and tests the wind. The air up here is a little blustery, but Harlan's experienced enough to correct for windage and picks out a bird perched at optimal range. He's got a clear shot, and figures that in the unlikely occurrence that he can't crack this bird's skull with the first shot, his firing position and the location of the bird should drive the rest of the crows towards Agrom and Raizenbrayne. At first the the stone sways lazily in his hand, turning slowly over it's first rotations as Harlan savors the familiar feeling of the leather taut between his fingers. But quickly, very quickly, the sling becomes a dark brown blur, a disc of stone and cloth, whistling death. Just as Harlan is about to let fly, one of the crows raises is dull black eyes to meet Harlan's, and there is a moment when the game seems to be up...but the crow returns to its business, pecking and preening, filthy and stupid, unaware of the halfling's Hidden Depths!
So that's 3D Fighter + (Hopefully) 1D from Hidden Depths + 1D Fresh = 5D. Anyone got help?

I like the Hidden Depths trigger :) Definitely a bad sign when a crow is underestimating you.

Agrom whispers in Harlan's ear what he knows of avian bone structure and where to aim to prevent the bird from flying away, while not killing the filthy little monster.

OK, Brayne doesn't have Fighter so that's it for the Help. Feel free to roll away when you like, Simon! That's 6D total--you could end this right now with a fantastic roll with your built-in +1s for superior Might.

Thanks! Harlan is simultaneously relieved and pissed off. Such disrespect! Also, I'm pretty sure Raizenbrayne can't help so here goes!
3D Fighter + 1D Hidden Depths + 1D Fresh + 1D Help = 6D + 1S Might

[1d6] = 6, [1d6] = 6, [1d6] = 2, [1d6] = 3, [1d6] = 6, [1d6] = 3

4 Successes total! Man! If I only had a fate point!

Hit Points:
Harlan 2
Agrom 2
Brayne 2
Crows 3

Harlan lets fly with his sling stone and it strikes home, his halfling nature guiding the missile to its avian target. The struck crow immediately plummets off the wall down toward the waiting Agrom and Raizenbrayne, who rush forward to gather it up. As Agrom steps forward, sword and shield raised to fend off a counter-attack, the birds launch themselves down at him, abruptly switching direction to come at him from an unexpected angle.

The crows have scripted Feint against Agrom's Attack.

This allows once again an independent Fighter roll by Agrom vs. Obstacle 0, with +1s for Might.

Nice!

Harlan Wax calls out the crows impending feint and continues to sling stones, providing covering fire for his friends on groundlevel, distracting the birds and breaking their formation. [Helping w/ Hunter]

Unfortunately you have to help with Fighter and not Hunter since it's still an Attack action on your side and you can only help with the primary skill type.

But it's all the same in the end, just making sure the guidelines are clear for the future :)
