Abelard helps the weakened Luken reset his crossbow and load another bolt.

"Let's try and move forward so I can check on the elf..."

Kernodle quickly moves to cover the ground to the elf, standing guard while the human recovers whatever gold and other valuables from the worthless corpse.

Luken will sling his crossbow and unsheathe his sword following up toward the elf.

"Let's try and move forward so I can check on the elf..." Abelard says after Luken's crossbow bolt scares off the first rat. Kernodle quickly advances past the fallen form of the elf and towards the cavern and is followed by Abe and Luken. Luken slings his crossbow and draws his sword while Abe stops to see to the body of their fallen comrade.

Abe is quickly able to confirm the worst. Mulvey, the elf, has fallen.

Abe shakes his head.

"He's dead. Let's drag his body out of the passage, at least. If he had anything on him anyone wants, I can't image he would mind at this point."

After they move the body into the larger cavern, he looks down at the elf and shrugs, "Elves don't have souls, so I won't bother with a prayer..."

Kernodle feels conflicted. He probably was a bit rude to the elf, but his instincts proved right about elves just not having the survival instincts of fellow dwarves.

Eh, I see some torches and those glowy beetle glands. Let's quickly look about this cavern, and come back to him if we need something.

With that, he wil search the main room for doors, tunnels, magical swords, etc.

Sorry, but this isn't going to cut it. I'll need specifics. If you need more details about the room, feel free to ask questions.

3) This is going to be a true 0e game. Old school to the core (including the map). Not sure what this means, please download and read the free: Quick Primer for Old School Gaming'. In fact, consider it required reading to participate in this game.

ok...
Kernodle will cautiously enter the cavern, looking around for signs any creatures who may have changed their minds about attacking him. He stand at the entrance and look around the room for any visible items.

Luken will approach the fallen elf: Of course they have souls... he will say as he leans down and grabs the fire beetle organs. Rest my friend... Luken will then move slowly toward the center of the room eyes all over the place.

Abe shakes his head. "He's dead." he says, confirming what everyone already suspected. "Let's drag his body out of the passage, at least. If he had anything on him anyone wants, I can't image he would mind at this point."

Abe and Luken work to move the body out of the passage and into the larger cavern, finding a niche in the northern wall in which to prop his body. "Eh, I see some torches and those glowy beetle glands." Kernodle offers, suggesting at least those items be salvaged.

The cavern itself is roughly circular, about 30 feet in diameter. Cursory inspections of it don't reveal anything inconsistent with a water-formed underground location such as it is.

Abelard grabs the glowing glands then nods his readiness to move on.

"We'll want to watch our backs in case the rats behind us get through the barrier."

Luken will cautiously move south and then west to approach the tunnel on the west wall indirectly (in case something is watching them from the shadows).
I think Luken beat Abelard to the glowing glands, would you care to share them?

Kernodle will whisper,
I s'pose I should lead. Just be ready to fire over my shoulder if you see something coming. Abe, please watch behind us for those rats. I cant say I did as good a job sealing that rubble as I'd have liked.
With that, he will cautiously walk toward the western opening.

Abe takes last place in line and periodically watches their back.

Kernodle assumes the lead and cautiously makes his way down the passage to the west. He's only 10-15 feet in before he halts the groups progress as the passage appears to have collapsed ahead of him.

I fear if we try to dig into this mess we may cause more of a collapse. Should we circle back and take on the other rats? Luken will say pursing his lips.

Kernodle answers...
Ugg, I would prefer not. Did we see anything that might work for a brace? any timbers, anything?

He then thinks a bit and asks wait... where did those other rats retreat to? There must be a hidden exit somewhere from the elf's body to here...

Abe nods and returns to the larger cave. Then he moves to the northern end of the room and looks for any kind of passage they may have missed.

Remembering the rats which fled down this same passage, Kernodle begins to examine the collapsed area more closely and notices a small opening on the right hand side near the top of the rubble that the rats must have passed through.
