Andrin is right, this bridge serves or has served some purpose. Anyway we can follow the river, our path should be southwards, away from the lake. Unless you've grown fond of the valley and decided to stay Stonjuz...? the ranger says with a smile.

Day 5 - Morning - Lake's Edge/By the Rope Bridge

There have been no trails or paths since the party descended the stairway. What they followed here where the tracks of the creatures more or less on the edge of the lake's margins. On the other side of the bridge there are no trails or paths either, only forest but it isn't impenetrable. It is much like the forest Andrin walked into just before meeting the spiky things. It seems that braving the forest from on here requires exploraion (and yes, normal chances of the party loosing itself will apply).

Convinced together is best, Stonjuz travels across to the others.

"We should be of good cheer," says Thurinor. "We may be almost through the forest. Besides, I hate backtracking..."

"Will you take the lead, Ogirdor? Even if there are no paths around here, you might still be able to notice tracks that might tell us something."

Which direction is the river flowing and can we continue moving by its margin?

The river is flowing straight Southeast through the forest for as far as it can be seen (which isn't much). It possible to follow it along either of it margins, although in this location the "margins" are cliffs, hence the rope bridge. Unless the river banks abate as it flows wading trough it at a latter time may prove problematic.

I will try to identify any trail in the woods. If that fails we may still follow the river.

Ogirdor will wade not too far in and check for trails, tracks or other signs of activity.

"If it will help at some point, there's this little spell I know... makes man, elf, or dwarf climb like a spider at my touch..." Thurinor looks over the cliff at the river below and smiles as if at an old friend.

Swilbosh looks around with interest at the new surroundings - trying to take in as much detail as possible for future visits he may have to this part of his 'realm'.

"I guess I vote for following the river, too. It has to lead to civilization eventually..."says Ozborne. He looks at Thurinor dubiously. "You can cause people to climb like spiders? Can you make us fly?... We could be on our way to the nearest town in two shakes of a lambs tail..."

Ogirdor checks the area but finds no trails.

Ogirdor goes back close to the bridge No sign of recent activity. Let us try to go south following the edge of the woods bordering the river, so the trees will provide some cover from threats on the other shore.

If the others are in agreement the ranger will move ahead and resume scouting as usual.

Gripping his staff tighter, Andrin follows the ranger, looking for forest animals that he might talk to for getting more information about this area.

Thurinor looks wistful. "I am sorry, Oz. I have yet to unlock the secrets of any spells of flying, and a spell that could cause the lot of us to take wing would be powerful indeed! Even my spell of climbing would serve only a minute or two, I am afraid."
