Ambiance: Tank
Emile lies on the floor,
Nora standing protectively in front of Oliver and crouching behind
Shadrach, not yet able to reach him.
Dantes backs across the floor, taking a position next to Shadrach to protect them as well, but exposing himself to the guard's incoming fire.
(-3, -2) You all concentrate fire on the incoming spider-robots, skittering on their whip-like legs, electricity arcing from their tiny stun rods. You thin the swarms considerably, now having taken down two-thirds of those following you. The last of them reach you, however, clambering over
Taavi, who flicks and swats them off, so far unstunned.
Hansel backs away from the swarm, but realizes he is at the Welcome Center doorway. Two guards have advanced, taking half-cover from the doorframe, the third crouching behind the circular desk and providing cover-fire. Finding himself point-blank with one of them, Hansel curses, dodging just in time to avoid getting shot. The situation is getting more dire...

Hansel, seeing the swarm greatly reduced, decides to stand his ground and attempt to take down some more of them. Darn, these things are small AND fast...

Taavi stays with firing the laser pistol at the nasty little robots. He recalls one of the maxim's of a pioneering aviation fighter ace: "Once you have engaged an enemy, do not switch targets, no matter how tempting the new opportunity might be."

Shadrach turns to Dantes.
"Dantes, I'm counting on you to keep them safe," he says, gesturing to Nora and Oliver. Having said that, he turns and sprints at the wall a few feet away...and melts right into it.
I'd like to use his phasing ability to go straight to the right, which would let him out right behind the lower-left guard.
"Peekaboo." He levels his bolt-thrower at the guard's back and squeezes the trigger.

Hansel and
Taavi focus their fire and pick off the last drones in the hallway as they clamber to zap Taavi with their stun rods.
Shadrach turns to Dantes.
"Dantes, I'm counting on you to keep them safe," he says, gesturing to Nora and Oliver.
Dantes nods in agreement, interposing himself at the corner of the wall, the others behind him.
Having said that, Shadrach turns and sprints at the wall a few feet away...and melts right into it. He passes through the bulkhead wall, finding himself in an office, messy papers piled on the desk and cabinets. He passes straight through them intangibly and then enters the Welcome Center, behind the guards who advanced.
"Peekaboo." He levels his bolt-thrower at the guard's back and squeezes the trigger. the bolt-thrower fires its spikes which loudly crunch and embed themselves in the wall behind the guard.
Dantes fires on the guard on the far side of the doorway, to which he as clear vantage, and the guard there fires back at him. At the same time, the other advanced guard fires on Hansel and the one hunkered behind the desk fires on Shadrach. There's lots of gunfire all around. But everyone is hunkered down and nobody is hit... for now.
Emile continues to die on the floor.

The little drones having been disabled,
Taavi quickly turns to check out the situation to his side and behind. Emile is down, and looks less than half alive.
Nora! he yells over the noise of the gunfire.
Emile needs attention! His eyes go unfocused, then he squints, and Emile's unconscious body slides across the floor to Nora.

Dodging aside from the guard's pistol blast,
Shadrach aims his spike thrower at the man crouched behind the desk and pulls the trigger. The security guard's head explodes in a splatter of blood and brain matter.
(Crit, -12)
The hallway quiet,
Hansel turns intending to shoot the remaining robots inside the Welcome Center, which still focus on Balygyr's body. He finds himself face to face with the security guard at the corner of the wall, though, which binds up both of their weapons and prevents good shots. From the hallway, Dantes gets a clear shot as Hansel surprises the guard
(-7). The guard topples over backwards.
Nora! Taavi yells over the noise of the gunfire.
Emile needs attention! Emile slides across the floor under his own volition, coming to a stop next to Nora, behind Dantes's protective cover.
Nora opens her satchel and begins pulling out medical supplies, stablizing the dying
Emile.
The final guard, hidden at the corner of the doorframe opposite Hansel, sees Taavi's psychic power and shoots him. The laser blast burns into the lawyer's shoulder
(-7).
One guard left, five robots on Balygyr's body. Emile stable, but unconscious for 10 mins.

Emile rests well and dreams of large women.
I do not envy the headache he will have when he awakens…

Hansel continues to try to engage the robots, but manages to stay trip over the body of the guard that Dantes put down, sending his burst wide of the mark yet again.
Laser rifle burst [1d20+5]=3+5=8 damage [1d10+4]=7+4=11
These dice are mean... 5 bursts 2 singles, if I'm tracking correctly. this battery should be at 3/20 now. Will need to swap out after next burst

Taavi leaves his psychic semi-trance and remembers the laser pistol in his hand. He raises it and fires at a guard.
Firing at the most wounded guard, if he can do that.

Hansel tries to aim his rifle at the tiny mechanical bots, but they are too quick for him. He leaves blast marks on the floor, but does succeed in getting the tiny security bots attention - they lead from Balygyr's body and scurry across the floor straight at him, their whiplike metal arms waving. With some dodging and dancing he keeps away from their stun rods.
Shadrach (-8) and
Taavi (-1) concentrate fire on the last remaining guard, who turns and sprints away towards the north bulkhead doors. As he stumbles away, he calls into his wrist communicator,
"Reception compromised! I repeat, reception compromised!"
You have a last round to act as he opens the door, then he escapes.

Hansel finally gets their measure once they move to point blank range, tearing into at least one of them. As the indicator hits zero, he drops the battery, letting it hit the floor, grabbing a spare from his pocket and ramming it home.
I forget the mechanics on reloads (I remember that there are main and other actions, but I'm away from my references right now), but if that goes into the next round, so be it. Get him or we'll have to fight him again!! he shouts, but keeps his attention focused on the remaining bot(s) attacking him.

Taavi thinks once, twice... and doesn't fire on the fleeing guard. The guard is an ordinary person doing his job, not some monstrous demon like at the saloon. And he has already alerted other security of their location. He hopes it's a decision he won't regret later. He sees a remaining spider-like robot rapidly moving to attack, and this time has no compunction about aiming and firing. As best he can.
