Cool and Smells Funny

Nah Jason says shaking his head weakly I only do what I do to help people, you seem like your doing the same sort thing. Your a Psychopomp, Like Charon on the river styx with a bit of Hunter S Thompson thown in. he stops and laughs at his own image. Any ghost that helps the dying or dead find peace gets a pass in my book. Besides no one seems to mind you.

Jack gets a little quiet and moves away looking out the window now, which you can see the daylight is starting to fade, the sun setting soon at the horizon. Jack then turns around and though it is hard to tell with such a near skeletal face, he might be smiling. You know what? Never thought of it that way. Hahahaha... Yeah, I am a regular valkyrie! Hahahahahahahaha!
...who is this that "stays around", stays around here at the hospital?
Jack turns and looks at Jason with a dire tone in his voice. There is one other. Real piece of work. He hangs around down int he sub-basement of the old part of the hospital. Something wrong with that guy, but for the most part he keeps to himself down there in the dark. Problem is, he keeps one of the people that tried to help him way back down there with him. I think she is trapped until he gets gone. He is her unfinished business, and he is just plain nasty. They were here long before I was, so I have no real idea what the actual story is. Now the lucky part is, that part of the building is all boarded up and no one goes down there anymore.
Heck, I bet most don't even know it is down there. But I can travel through walls you see? So I have been down there. She seems okay, but time is taking its toll on her, you know? Spend enough time in the dark and you start slipping yourself if you get the meaning.
Shame, she seems like she was a nice lady. I think that he was one of those... what do you call em? Multi-murderers or something like that. Now he is holding onto the last person he ever interacted with, and I think he likes knowing he has her trapped.

Oh no, I was thinking about coming back here. When I'm less snake venom and more Ghostbuster. I just wondered if it was possible. Not even a ghost should be stuck like that

Thanks, for that. Right now I got enough on my mind anyway, getting out of here and back on some pretty heavy duty stuff. He looks at Jack, Theres a whole lot bigger and meaner stirring around out there. he says as he nods to the windows.

Jack Turns and looks out the window. Yeah, this town has a lot going on. I remember growing up always hearing ghost stories and thought most of it was hooey. I guess the joke is on me huh? he ask as his head pivots around owls style with a sickening pop and creak. He grins a little. So what is it you are looking into there Buster? Care if I call you Buster?

Jack thinks a minute real hard. No... but I did see Joan Jett in 1985. Does that count?

Joking aside he thinks for a minute. Crosses eh
was never much of a church goer. Can't think of a way to help you there.

At that moment a Doctor walks in looking at a chart. Hello, I am Dr. Ali. Glad to see you are awake. How do we feel? Any pain, discomfort, or numbness? You were a very lucky Man, Mr. O'Rourke. You recieved 8 snake bites to your extremities from Cottonmouth snakes. Very venomous.
Tell me, sir. What were you doing? You will be very stiff and sore in the coming days, but if you feel up to it, we can check you out in the morning. I recommend you rest and take ibuprofen for the pain and swelling. I am also ordering a steroid injection to speed your recovery. You should come back to the ER if the pain increases or you become numb.
Keeping your stress down the next couple weeks will be key.

Thanks for thinking on it. Hopefully whatever bad mojo is working I can help keep it from threatening anyone. I appreciate the crash course in speaking with the dead.

Jason starts to chuckle as the doctor walks in. and listens to him carefully, Sounds good doc, I will try to keep it on desk duty as much as I can. But sometimes duty calls to be in the weeds. Kind of a high stress job. Any recommendations for keeping stress levels down? Jason takes a sip of water, To get hit as many times as I did will be awful, I got bit once as a kid. Think that might be why I'm still ticking?

Dr. Ali rather dramatically rolls his eyes. Always I hear this. You fire fighter, police types! I hear the same thing. he chuckles. but i tell you... Doctors are worse! So here... i will say lay off the stress a bit for... 2 weeks. Or you could feel yourself begin to get sick. You immune system could have been a little more ready for the venom since you were bitten before, but it is compromised right now from fighting the venom. Overdoing it can make you feel fatigued. Get some extra sleep and eat well. No drinking. Okay? Your liver and kidneys simply cannot handle that right now. Have your girlfriend or mother take good care of you a while, alright?
Desk work is good, but watch out for yourself.
a little back and forth like that, and the doctor leaves.

Jack ha! You're lucky! He's one of the good ones
If he is saying you're out by tomorrow, you must be in good shape. Eh... I guess you'll be fine. Now that whole crash course in talking to the dead thing? Yeah, I had nothing to do with that. Trust me... if you can see me you are... or at least were... almost there. If I were you, I'd watch my ass a little more and get some snake proof boots or something. Especially since you said this wasn't your first time getting bit, you know? I have a feeling your the type going to head back out there, ain't ya? *snort* stupid if you ask me... kinda baddass too though. The Doc mentioned you having a girlfriend... well? Do ya? She cute?

Say doc, I know your more about the concrete worlds of medicine and science. But have you ever known anyone who's been near death to start....uh..hmm...sensing things they couldn't before? Jason says as he shoots a grin at Jack, who cracking up. I, uh, I'm probably going to write a paper on this and just wondered if there were any perspective you could add. Trauma doctors are on the front line of weird stuff, just thought I would ask. Jason says hopefully touching on a bit of pride to see if the the doctor would give him anything beyond the clinical effects.

After the doctors response whatever it may be he turns back to Jack. Ha noting serious tho I did have dinner with a really cool lady, seems like there's some family conflict there, I had been meaning to follow up with her but then I found a bunch of pissed off cottonmouths and ended up here. He chuckles. I guess I am feeling up to getting back in touch with people. He reaches for his phone and pulls up Gabby's number and begins to tap:

Hey I meant to get back to you sooner but, well I got hurt pretty bad at work, I am in the Hospital now but I should be out soon. It would be nice to catch up And Send....hmmm.... He taps through and brings up Screecher.

Doc says I can be back on light duty tomorrow! Can't keep a good 'Buster down.

Dr. Ali raises a brow and flips through the chart a little then nods. Right.... says here you are a... Ghostbuster... Alright.
Okay. I will order something to help you relax. I have a good friend who will come and talk to you shortly.
he abruptly turns and leaves.

Jack cackles. Oh boy! This is going to be good! the ghost swoops out the door after the doctor and is gone for a few minutes and comes back in laughing. AAAAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh wow! He is calling the shrink! You're going to the top floor, man! AAAAAHAHAHAHA! He thinks you might have blown a gasket or something!

Jason sees that in fact he has several missed calls. No less than five from Gabby with various news channels interspersed. There is a lot of news circulating about him being in the hospital and everyone seems to want to get the scoop.

Without spelling it all out... Jason's email and text messages have blown up as well as Screecher.

Jack Hey, uhhh... anything you want to do you better make it happen quick. I saw what they put on your chart and you will be going night night real soon. he moves to look over Jason's shoulder as he reads messages. Gabby? Cute name.
That your sweetheart?

Jason wrote: He taps through and brings up Screecher.

And his screecher lights up again with likes and replies. Mostly support!

Jason's phone rings. It is Gabby So you are the one that was sent to the hospital? Are you okay? Tell me what is going on! What room are you in? What can I do to help you? Why didn't you answer any of my text or calls?! so she was worried. That was a good sign, right?

Jason sees the reaction written all over the doctors face and politely listens to his speech. After he leaves he turns to Jack, Jokes on him we have to have full psychological profiling before we are in the field. Eh, I might find a nice local shrink for us. You have too many convos with ghosts and it starts to take a toll. And begins to laugh along with Jack.

He stops laughing as he looks at his phone and sees his messages. Uhh, yeah Gabby...wow, this made more news that I expected. As he says that his phone lights up in his hand Gabby on the screen. He taps answer, put the phone to his ear and is bombarded with words, Uhh, hey, hey, he says gently trying to calm her down I gotta keep my heart rate down right now so a conversation at that speed might kill me. He laughs softly, I'm ok, I'm through the worst of it now but I got snake-bit about eight times, I'm sorry I didn't call sooner but to be honest I've been so in and out of it I dont even know what day it is. Im not sure what room I'm in but if you ask for the Ghostbuster, he cranes his head slightly to see at least a few concerned or curious sets of eyes, You should be able to find me. I'll let the nurses know to let you in. He pauses for her reply.

Jack just joins in the intermittent laughter. He doesn't care, he's dead! But he really enjoys the look on Dr. Ali's face as Jason cracks up. Yeah, yeah, he says as the well-intending doctor leaves. He's a touchy one, especially since that last guy came through her talking about ghosts in a basement and all that. They sent him up top to be with those Nurse Hatchet types before sending him home. Did you know there was a full-blown psyche ward on the top floor? Fun place but some of those folks give me the heevey jeebies if you follow me.

When the phone lights up with Gabby's face, Jack swirls around behind Jason and puts his ghastly face right up tot he screen. Whooooooooooooooooooaaa hubba hubba! Gotcha one of those oriental types huh? A real Mama San? She nice as she looks?

At hearing him say he needs to keep his heart-rate down the line goes silent for a minute and her voice is much slower and softer. Okay... I am already on my way out. I will come to you okay? What do you need? Will they let you eat? he hears a car engine turn on and realizes Jack now has his.... ear... or whatever is left of it, pressed against the other side of the phone chuckling softly.

Tell her to bring you some beer and pork rines! the staff here loves that! he chuckles some more.

Jason will notice that the phone is getting a lot of interference now that Jack is so close, doubtless from the PKE instrumentation inside of it reacting. He can also hear the pings of his phone indicating alerts to back up his ideas on this. Jack is simply too close now.

Gabby You're cutting out... what was that?

Jason swats at the ghost and does his best to keep it away from Jacks spectral ear. Sorry some interference here, and mouths "No" to Jack. Just some gremlins in the lines probably.

After Gabby Asks her question Jason lets out a chuckle. I was being metaphorical, but yeah actually they are. No worries I know thats not the issue here. He cuts a wry look at Jack. Don't worry I think I have it cleared up for the time being. But I am going to be ok, just a little slower for the next few days. I'll talk to you more about it when you get here. Drive safe!

The call ends and Jack says something about talking to a guy about a horse and leaves, chuckling, saying that he will be back in a bit. Apparently, he had other people to check up on for a moment, or then again maybe it was his way of offering some privacy once Gabby showed up. Either way, it was mere moments before the door opened with a knock and her face peeked around. Jason?
Are you here?
she looked concerned but just as she was coming in another man in a white coat over his tweed suit walks in behind her. Oh, hello, I didn't know our patient had guests. My name is Dr. Mike. Dr. Ali asked me to check in on you. I hope everyone is feeling well and comfortable? he smiled like... a copyrighted orange cat might, in a friendly but almost lazy way. Are we feeling okay? May we talk?

Gabby shrank a little but then moved over next to Jason, her eyes asking him questions she didn't voice.
