Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Jardin follows along alert and ready. He examines the walls as he passes by for any unusual workings or signs of concealed doors.
Re: Chapter One: Arrival
As you proceed slowly down the hall, you see it continues on past the extent of your light from where you initially entered. It continues on another 20 feet (the last bit of which are a couple of stairs down) to a larger oddly shaped room with numerous pillars. But before you approach, Jardin (in his search) discovers a loose rock in the wall which causes a loud "click" and a previously unseen door opens slightly.

Tilthig
Hearing the "LOUD" click, the Svirfneblin stops. Turning, he heads toward the secret door and a peek inside.

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Jardin steps aside with a proud smirk at his discovery.
Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Using his infravision, Tilthig sees a 10' long hall going south that opens into another room. The room is 20' wide but starts as part of the hallway wall on his left and opens to the west so Tilthig can not see how long the room is.tarlyn wrote:Tilthig

Tilthig
He will relate this to the others in a low voice and ask "So shall we continue our original way or try this secret passage?"

Thir looks at the others and shrugs
"If it means we can get around something, or catch some denizen by surprise, I say why not. If it turns and heads west then it may join up with the chamber ahead anyway"

Jardin nods with a smile,"The secret passage is always likely to reveal more interesting things"

Tilthig
Nodding, the Svirfneblin passes into the secret passage, again taking his time looking for surprises etc etc.

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
As Bingo brings the hooded lantern around, the light reveals two things Tilthig was unable to see with his infravision. First, a brass key lying on the ground just inside the doorway. Second, a figure in full plate armor. Silently it strides toward Tilthig. It carries two swords, one across it's back and the other on its side but it has drawn neither.

Jardin readies himself for contact...
Re: Chapter One: Arrival
How? It is very important to this encounter to explain how you ready yourself.ravenn4544 wrote:Jardin readies himself for contact...

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Jardin flexes his hands on his shield grip and mace but doesn't make any aggressive movement, at the moment, as the approaching figure doesn't seem to be doing so.
He whispers "I told you it would be more interesting this way.."
OOC: that make more sense?

Tilthig
The Svirfneblin keeps his hands to his sides in an unthreatening manner. Slowly backing out of the passage, he makes a mental note
of where he saw the key. As soon as he is out of the passage he will move to his right quickly and hug the wall with his back and arms.
"Someone in armor is coming," he whispers to everyone in the hallway.
"Don't know if he is friendly or not."

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Please correct me if I am wrong. At this point, only Jardin is in the doorway. Tilthig has moved to the side and the others never stated they were looking in the doorway. Is this correct?
Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Celionas -- hearing the clanking armor approaching from down the secret passage, but not aware of what is actually happening -- grips his staff tightly. With Jardin no longer behind him, he takes a nervous step backwards... but not so far as to exit the 20-foot wide corridor the rest of the group is in. He nervously alternates his attention between the activity taking place ahead of him, from the secret passage, and behind him, making sure nothing is able to sneak up on him unexpectedly.
Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Hearing Tilthig's warning Thir falls into a defensive stance, hand ready to grab hammer or holy symbol as needed.
ooc: yup, Thir never had a chance to get close enough to look in the doorway.

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Jardin, as the suit of armor approaches you, you can see through the visor that the armor is empty.
