Galanthas puts his hand on his bow at first but, learning from past experiences, he prefers to draw his sword and stand guard next to where Wes is taking the bones from the carcass. He looks around themselves, especially to that where Janxsen is, in case something jumps on him, even if he's invisible.

"I know you have to do it yourself, Wes, but in case you need a hand, or my dagger, I can lend them both." the elf says without averting his eyes from their surroundings.

Then an idea comes into his mind. "Hey. Do you mind if I look for some lizards around here?" He changes his sword for his dagger and starts looking under rocks and among the grasses in the inmediate area, also minding that maybe several lizards had been attracted by the mosquitoes and flies that went to the carcass. "Tell me if I'm disrupting your work here, Wes, you just gave me an idea for some... research."

Wes

"No, it's fine, I have one here" says Wes, drawing his dagger. Not needing a specific bone, Wes doesn't feel like wading through the smelly, decomposing gore any more than is necessary. He searches for a reasonably-sized one, capable of being engraved and fashioned into the shape of a club. Once found, he wipes off the mess as best he can and looks around.

He turns to Jaxsen and Galanthas. "So then, fellas. What next? The day is still quite young. Shall we head back the way we came? Or maybe cut into the trees a little to see what else is here? We might find something to hunt, or even just some fruit"

"That magic will last a little longer Jaxsen. Want to try it out a bit more?"

Jaxsen Reiter

"Yes, I have an idea." The monk walks up to the carcass, and ties off his rope to the center of it, wherever he thinks it can take the strain of dragging. He then exits the swarm and brings the other end of the rope out with him. "We want to make friends with the Tree Folk, right? Well, I'll go in under the canopy and make sure nothing too.... hungry... is waiting for us, and then we drag the carcass the rest of the way into the trees, and leave it there for them. I'll even throw in my rope. They might appreciate that as much as anything they get off the carcass."

He hands the other end of the rope to Galanthas, and sets out under the canopy, quietly looking for any predators that might be waiting there.

Once nothing dangerous jumps out at Jaxsen, Wes and Galanthas stroll a little closer to the rotting carcass.

The monk still doesn't spot any threats nearby. He begins pulling out his rope so they can pull the dead thing even further into the jungle for the phanaton. Looking at the way the carcass is sitting, it looks as though someone (or some thing) has already had that idea, though there is no rope in sight.

Galanthas stays near the druid, but he spots a tiny tree lizard nearby and gets a brilliant idea. He moves a few feet into the jungle and deftly snatches the lizard from its perch. The lizard tries to get away from the elf's grasp, actually releasing his tail from its body. Galanthas is quick to retrieve the thing as he puts it into his pocket to experiment with later.

Wes finds the perfect bone to use for his spell research, so he holds his breath from the bugs and reaches in for it. Just then a surprisingly quick and large snake that was hiding in the overhanging branches drops down around the druids torso, pinning his arms to his sides as it begins to quickly constrict tightly around the half-elf. 7 damage (man your Dex sucks)

Jaxsen and Galanthas turn to see a massive grey colored snake suddenly coil around their friend, trying to lift him up into the overhanging trees.

Jaxsen Reiter

Jaxsen, understanding that the snake cannot see him, quickly approaches the reptile and attempts to grab whichever end of the snake is closest to him and simply unwrap it from around Wes. Unfortunately, the snake's curling and writhing thwart his attempts.

Grab snake while invisible [1d20+4] = 2+4 = 6

As Galanthas sees Jaxsen trying to grab the snake he shouts "Grab it by the neck, grab it by th-! Oh, dear.". The elf, still holding his dagger, decides not to change weapons but is undecided as to what course of action should he take, as to not injure any of his companions.

Wes

Trapped in the coils, Wes has few options. But he is able to call out a few brief words, drawing on the power of Obad Hai. As he does, the length of the snake is illuminated by an eerie light.

The massive snake continues to tighten around the druids body as it starts to lift him up off of the ground. 5 dam The distinct cracking sound of the branches above indicates that they wont hold the weight of both of them, so the snake stops trying to lift Wes up to him. Instead, it slinks its ugly grey head down towards Wes's face, looking him directly in his eyes and hissing its deadly intentions. (Save vs. Pet. please)

The half-elf is not discouraged by the sudden bad situation, knowing that his friends are right there to help him. He calls out a few magical phrases and suddenly the snake glows with a violet coloring, making him much easier to see. (+2 to hit now)

Jaxsen rushes to the aid of the druid, trying to pull the heavy coils of snake off of him, but the animal proves too quick and too large for the monk.

Galanthas keeps his dagger out and his lizard put away. He sees his friend struggling, but is afraid to attack and risk hitting his companion. He can tell by the look in the druids eye that he would prefer to have his friends kill the thing that is trying to kill him, even if he does get injured in the process. The elf sees the head of the snake expose itself to him as it stares at its captive.

Wes

After his experience with the hag, Wes senses what is coming and tries to close his eyes. And he succeeds!. The Shalm watches over him still.

Save vs Petrification (12) [1d20] = 19
He has a +3 to magical effect saves, but It's not necessary because he rocks!!!

Jaxsen Reiter

Jax decides that a more aggressive response is called for, before Wes is hurt any worse. He rolls his halberd over his shoulder and attacks.

I notice that the Invisibility to Animals is still in effect. If that shouldn't be added, please subtract 4 from the "To Hit".

Jaxsen attacking w/ Halberd (+Invibility+Faerie Fire) [1d20+6] = 13+6 = 19

Jaxsen w/ Halberd Damage vs. S,M [1d10+1] = 10+1 = 11
Jaxsen w/ Halberd Damage vs. L [2d6+1] = 7+1 = 8

Yes, that 19 definitely saves.

The snake is considered a Large creature.

Sorry, I forgot to eliminate the invisibility spell effect in my last post. Luckily, that roll should still hit.

Yeah... D'OH!

In my defense, I'm in a small windowless room, with neon lights, counting serial numbers on test papers. Then matching them with the numbers on a list. Numbers are meaningless to me now...

I only realized i screwed up after I went outside for fresh air.

I'll eit that to make sense. :D

Trying to avoid the snakes gaze, Galanthas circunvents it (and Wes) and tries to stab it with his knife, as that's the weapon he has right now available.

I don't know if the circunventing would make the attack be delayed by one round, but I'll roll the hit anyways to avoid slowing down the game!

Dagger - To hit: [1d20] = 2; Dmg to small/medium: [1d4] = 3; to large: [1d3] = 1

Surprise!

Galanthas was right next to Wes, so he can attack now. I don't require you to spend a round switching weapons out either, as long as you drop the first instead of sheathing or stowing it. (hint hint) :D

Wes tries to wiggle and squirm out of the grip of the fat snake to no avail. He isn't strong enough to break the bonds of the still constricting snake. 4 dam

Jaxsen and Galanthas slash at the serpentine monster, hoping they can kill it before it kills Wes. The elf's tiny blade doesn't penetrate the things thick skin, but the monk slices a large gash into its side with his halberd. The snake hisses in pain form the nasty blow. Seeing that the druid is now averting his gaze, the snake bites him in the neck instead of using its gaze attack this time. 1 dam

Wes

The druid tries again to overcome the powerful muscles of the snake...

Very Hard STR check (Str 8) [5d6] = 16

but doesn't succeed.
Honestly, If Wes was trying to beat this thing to death, there'd by none of these 19's, 14's and 16's...It would all be 2's, 4's and 7's

Jaxsen Reiter

Jax continues attacking the snake. Given the size of the thing, he chooses a section away from Wes, to lower the chances of hitting the Druid by mistake. The strategy seems sound as the Monk once again scores a deep gash in the hide of the snake.

Attack with Halberd (+2 for Faerie Fire) [1d20+2] = 17+2 = 19

Jaxsen w/ Halberd Damage vs. L [2d6+1] = 8+1 = 9

Galanthas sees that the dagger doesn't have much of an effect, so he drops it (thanks :-p) and tries to slash at the snake with his longsword!

Long sword - To hit: [1d20] = 10; Dmg to medium: [1d8] = 7; to large: [1d12] = 3

And so it goes on! Is it allowed to swear in another language?

Galanthas drops his dagger to draw out his larger blade, though his results seem the same.

Wes continues trying in vain to escape the clutches of the huge snake. Again his meager strength fails him. 6 dam

Jaxsen targets a spot as far away from Wes as he can and strikes with his large pole ax again, cutting a second wide gash into the hide of the monster. This time the creature notices it a bit more. Instead of biting at the druid again, its slinky head finds Jaxsen and tries to look the monk in his face. (Save vs. Pet, please. An action can be taken again regardless of the outcome.)

The snake is starting to look a bit worse for ware, though so is Wes.

Actions!

Jaxsen 14/14
Wes 9/34 4/6 first 1/4 second 3/3 third (FF: 14 +2 to hit)
Galanthas 12/12 1/1 first
