Thulgrir Silverfoot eyes the dock and stairs condition "I yearn ta be back on solid ground again but I dun like the look of them stairs."

Cheyrth-34HP/AC0/Mu-Thief/THAC0-16- Checks the stair closely before stepping off the boat. Them stairs going to hold all of us?

The dock and stairs are stone, though crumbling at the corners they do appear to be solid.

Sir Ulric surveys the steps and looks to the cliffs above. Seeing nothing, he will proceed up the stairs.

Cheyrth-34HP/AC0/Mu-Thief/THAC0-16 will follow Sir Ulric up the stairs.

Thulgrir Silverfoot once one person has made it over the stairs will attempt himself.

Jesse climbs out of the boat as soon as it docks. He then steps to the end and proceeds to preform a series of weapon drills with his trident. "Gotta loosen up after sitting for so long."

Sakura

Sakura waits for her chance to disembark, then follows Sir Ulric up the stairs. We'll need a little space to set up camp, even if it's just a temporary one. Does anyone want to scout the immediate area with me?, she asks, looking particularly to those with better night vision.

Thulgrir Silverfoot shakes his head "Aye I'll go with ya." the dwarf replies to Sakura.

The stairs are indeed solid and lead up to a wall built to continue the rise of the carved isle edge. The wall rises up into a dome shape that is marked by three tiers of arrowslit type windows, four per tier and each about 10 feet apart. At the top of the stairs is a iron door, that despite ages of neglect still appears solid. The door is ajar. Only black can be seen beyond it.

Sakura

The half elven woman moved cautiously upwards then stood momentarily at the top of the stairs, trying to feel the movement of air. She strained her ear for the sound of movement beyond the door and sniffed. She gave the dwarf a look that said 'do you sense anything?'.

OOC: Sakura has no Hear Noise skill so I'll leave it to the Thief.

Cheyrth-34HP/AC0/Mu-Thief/THAC0-16- Listens carefully for any noises beyond the door. I do not hear anything.

Cheyrth puts his head near the cracked door. There are sounds. They are mostly clacks and gurgles but rhythmic like speech. It sounds as if it is a ways off almost echoing.

ooc- I will roll thief checks for stuff you shouldn't know if you made it or not.

Cheyrth- Cannot tell what the noises are really but they seem to off in the distance. Clacks and gurgling language I have heard before.

Thulgrir Silverfoot doesn't look happy to hear the news "Well that cain't be good. I'll ready for battle then." the dwarf puts a hand to his sword hilt ready to draw but decides if there is any distance it might be best to ready his bow first so he draws his bow and nocks and arrow.

Sakura

Given what we've been told, I find it unlikely that whatever is making that noise is friendly, but let's not rush into anything hastily, said the half-elf. Perhaps we can draw it closer, or at least get a better look...

OOC: Spellcasting. Sakura will move a few steps back down the stairs to try and muffle the sound of casting. She will summon an Unseen Servant. If there is no immediate attack or movement from within, she will give it one of her Continual Light coins, and get it to go through the doorway into the room, then off to one side slightly so Thulgir can get a line on anything that approaches. Sakura will then quietly draw her blade.

US will last for 13 turns unless dispelled.

Sir Ulric declares "Nay good sirs! Honor could not possibly allow another to lead the charge!" He draws his sword, which glows with a warm pale light, and makes ready. "When you are ready, I shall proceed forward!"

OOC: His protection from evil 10' radius paladin effect is active

"Sure, I'm ready. Jesse says with a grin as he holds his battle axe at the ready.

Sir Ulric also concentrates on detecting evil behind the door...
