We can a small camp in the trees about an hour away, Dimly says. If you wait there for a day or two, perhaps you can help escort any more survivors from Brighton. The ones we've rescued so far have needed assistance to make it back.

Junius then suggests to Rothal that he could do them a favor, though by returning with a posse. If they keep having to extract prisoners one by one, it will take quite some time.

"Hey, if this guy thinks he can make it back on his own, that's less dead weight we have to carry," shrugs Horatio, ambassador of goodwill. The thief finds himself being shushed by AdaRue, who turns her attention to the wounded warden. "Rothal, you might well make it, but it doesn't need to be right now," she says assuringly. "We are likely to find more poor souls, and they will need your leadership for the trek back."

"Stay with us a bit farther, see if we don't find those scouts you were looking for."
Dimly offers establishing a small camp about an hour away, where Rothal would be able to hide out and wait for them to return to him. Junius points out that the entire trip back to Brighton is only two hours, so it might make sense for him to return the whole way instead of stopping and hiding out half-way. Then, once home, he could return with more numbers.

Rothal considers all the offers. "I won't be of much use to you..." he starts, before pausing and glancing at Horatio with uncertainty. "I suppose my pride will hurt more if I return empty-handed than if I were to stick with you for a bit longer. I can always escort any other prisoners you manage to free later, right?" he says rhetorically. "Though, in my condition, and without my armor and weapons and supplies, I might best serve staying out of harm's way. Perhaps I could be a light bearer?"


With that matter of business out of the way, the group is now tasked with the decision of where to proceed next? They can head back to the left, where the old guard room is the only thing between their current location and the main passage leading from entrance to the goblin halls themselves; or, head right into a previously unexplored area.

I figure it will make the most sense for Rothal to tag along for a bit. He truly will stay out of the way, and can alway leave at a later time in the event any other prisoners are rescued.

Vernon approaches Rothal and shakes his hand. I'm Vernon. From Brighton. And a small mishap such as this won't tarnish your reputation, but if you join us, even for a short while, I'd be honored if you'd use my bow. And you can carry one of these spears in case things get ugly.

With Rothal's agreement to join them, AdaRue offers further healing.

Keeping a low profile, but still an NPC, and possible cannon fodder, right? What is his current HP? Does he need healing?
If you are just ghosting him along (where he has no chance of injury, etc), i won't waste the spell.

Horatio looks the townie up and down. Useless in a fight, probably.

"Well, okay," he says skeptically. "You can tag along. But if you get hurt, don't go crying to Canun. He doesn't heal people—he just tells you how you screwed up by getting hurt." Horatio grins at the cleric. "He likes people that don't get captured."

COnsidering your OOC comment, Dave, AdaRue will save her CLW for a party member who is more likely to get injured.

Canun nods solemnly, unaware he's being teased. "Well, I might heal you. But if you need healing, it means you made a mistake...or someone else did.

Frustrated at the utter lack of common decency from Canun and Horatio, AdaRue speaks up. Keebler and Junius. What do you two think of standing at a dead end and waiting for a mountain-full of goblins to come to us? She suggests that, by exploring more, they are more likely to find more prisoners and the source of the sickness besetting Brighton.

Vernon is torn. He wants to be accepted by the group, but the group seems split. He keeps his mouth shut and stands near Rothal, who is a known hero to the young man from Brighton.

Rothal is given one of the spears, and he manages to scrounge up a robe that is roughly his size. Once equipped, he and the group depart this training room and Junius leads them down the unexplored passage to the right. After approximately 80-feet, the passage ends at a 'T' intersection.

The new left-and-right passages continues beyond the range of vision, and there aren't any unusual sights, sounds, or smells coming from either direction.

At Dimly's suggestion, Junius ventures down the right half of the 'T' intersection, leaving those in the rear of the marching order to keep an eye on anything that might emerge from the left, or opposite end of the intersection.

Junius travels approximately 60-feet before discovering a side passage off to his left. Peer around the corner, he spies a familiar, solid wooden door roughly 45- or 50-feet down this side passage.

The dwarf carefully makes his way to the door, which has a handle that, after a slight test, proves to be unlocked.
Listening at the door does not produce any sound.
