Was the victim of a hit-and-run car accident last night. Thankfully it wasn't anything too serious, but I imagine I won't have as much free time on my hands for the next week or so as I'll be needing to work with the police, insurance and repair shop plus potential doctor visits.

I will still attempt to keep up with the post per day pace, but might not be online quite as often as normal.

Sucks! :(

Hope they catch the perp, Dave. In the mean time, do what you have to. We will chill out until you get it sorted.

Unlikely. I was confident I caught their license plate number and was shocked when the police dispatcher informed me the tag information I provided wasn't a match with anything in their system. The police officer that arrived on the scene to fill out the accident report flat out told me that it's extremely unlikely that they will ever catch the guy, which is disappointing.

My insurance company said that they will cover the damages (after I meet my deductible) and it won't affect my rates, but I'm tempted to call a bunch of local body shops, providing them with the information I have on the other driver, and offer them half of what I'd pay towards my deductible to tip me (or the police) off if the guy brings his truck in to be repaired at their location.

It sucks that I have to pay anything, but I'd rather pay half of my deductible (not to mention catch the guy) than pay the full deductible.

Wow... Sorry to hear that, Dave. It is amazing how responsibility, honor and integrity has disappeared from society.

It is unfortunate. Too bad not everyone comported themselves like Ewell or Strom, right? ;)

fyi- I do not think I will be doing much posting tomorrow, due to another up/back trip to NYC... So, unless Ewell needs to do anything specifically, just have him follow the recommendations of the crowd for sleep detail, watch, etc.

My last day at my current job is this Friday, and I've been pulled into full day transition meetings the rest of this week which will severely limit my daytime availability.... which, with the new job, I expect to become the new status quo.

I am still looking into mobile hotspot options for my daily commute, but am waiting to see if the new employeer will provide/subsidize before I decide whether or not I want to pick up that new monthly expense on my own.

Bottom line:

Aleast for the next few weeks, continue to expect daily posts, but not coming in until later than normal.

Well, since you failed to negotiate free web surfing time in lieu of pay, I am not holding out much hope for that negotiation, either.

Ooorrrrrr...

You could scope out laptop and smart phone users on your commute for the first week, secretly checking to see if any of your fellow travelers provides an unsecured hot spot for you. ;)

Oooorrrrr...

You could write out posts in a notepad form, then wait to try and connect and upload as you pass any mobile hot spots on the way (say, your train goes by a Panera or some such thing).

Write, write, write, oh, here it comes so I'd better get ready... and... nowhurryupandconnectandupdateth...

Dang, too fast. OK, here comes the next... one... and... oktryandconnectagaintoupdatethegam...

Crap. Too fast again.

Hmmm... Maybe that second option won't work.

Will have limited internet connection on the 24th and 25th; should still be able to make any updates, if required, but just not in my usual speedy fashion.

Sorry, but no vacations are accrued during first month of duty. Had Alordan survived, it wouldn't be a problem, see. But, well, you will just need to send one of us instead.
