IX. Brighton
Re: IX. Brighton
From his position 200 feet away, Horatio launches a precisely-aimed arrow that gives the remaining goblin something else to scream about.
Long bow (THAC0 19): [1d20+2] = 20+2 = 22 [1d8] = 5
Roll doesn't include -1 for long range—not that it probably matters.

Re: IX. Brighton
Rainey joins with the others in approaching the cart and slitting the throats of the sleeping goblins.
Re: IX. Brighton
Keebler looks at the elf-like human, one eyebrow raised in surprised respect. "Nice shot," he says.
He searches the goblins for the key to unlock the human.

Re: IX. Brighton
Eliminated
The fleeing goblin is near the maximum range his bow can strike, but Horatio rolls the proverbial dice and launches a precisely-aimed arrow that sinks into the creatures back. It drops. With no visible threat remaining, the group advances to the scene of the sleeping foes... where Junius and Rainey proceed to eliminate them.
Through the bars of the cage, AdaRue attempts to wake the sleeping human -- a teenaged boy -- by wiping their face with a cloth dampened from her water bottle... but the human does not rouse. Keebler discovers a key on the body of one of the cart haulers and uses it to unlock the cage. The prisoner, wrists bound to the poles of the cage by thick, rough rope, shows visible signs of abuse and remains unresponsive... and is ultimately determined to be deceased. Likely from wounds suffered at the clawed hands of his slavers (and hopefully not from the tumble he took when the one cart hauler fell asleep and dropped their end).
A thorough search of the goblins uncovers a total of 16 gold pieces; an open jar of some kind of grease or rendered fat from some unknown source; plus their weapons, which include five short swords and three short bows with 36 arrows remaining. The goblin slavers also wore straps of leather fastened into makeshift suits of armor, while the cage haulers donned leather stoles with bone studs.
---
The 36 arrows recovered is evenly divisible by the four archers, so I have added 9 arrows to each PC with a bow (everyone should have 29, except Horatio, who has 28 due to the arrow he just shot). Fell free to add extra bows, or any other items, and distribute the gold recovered however you'd like.
Anything else you guys want to be before continuing on?

Re: IX. Brighton
AdaRue searches the boy's body for clues about who he is and where he is from. Then she prays over him and helps create a cairn to protect his body from scavengers. May the mother embrace him again. May his sould find its way to the home of his ancestors. And with some reservation, she asks if canun wants to say a few words as well, grimacing as she asks.
Re: IX. Brighton
Dimly goes to dispatch the sleeping goblins, saving the last to interrogate, and binding it with rope.
Re: IX. Brighton
Junius secures his extra provision of arrows and readies to lead them onward.

"'Thanks for killing that last goblin what would've gone and warned all it's friends,'" huffs Horatio under his breath. "'You really saved our asses, Horatio!' Ingrates." He takes his arrows and mentally calculates his share of 16 gold pieces.
He stays away from the dead human. "Might have died of the disease," he mutters.

Re: IX. Brighton
As always, Canun has a keen interest in the gold. He'll make sure to get his share.
"Well placed arrow, Horatio. You seem worthy of our company" congratulates the cleric.
"Now, what were goblins doing wandering around in daylight?" he wonders aloud.

Re: IX. Brighton
Busted!
Junius is halted by his fellow dwarf before applying the death blow to the final sleeping goblin. "He might be able to tell us something," Dimly suggests. While the goblin sleeps soundly at their feet the group begins to debate its fate.
"Excuse me," hails an unrecognized male voice from just behind Canun. The group, distracted by the deceased prisoner and the sleeping goblin, jump at the sudden arrival of this stranger. "Didn't meant to startle you," the man says. "Name's Fenland."
The group shifts their collective attention towards this strange man standing in their midst. Wearing shabby clothing and no armor, the stranger takes a step towards Canun and moves to put his arm around the cleric. "It's okay, friend, I mean you no harm," he says. By all appearances, his words appear as if they might be true, as his haggard appearance looks anything but imposing. A small knife tucked under his belt appears to be the only visible object of danger on his person... his odor is pretty offensive, however.
Canun attempt to peel himself away from the vagabond, and as he does so, he feels a slight bit of resistance... as the stranger's hand is fully inside the cleric's pouch!
"Now, this is embarrassing," the man says, withdrawing his hand and quickly taking a step back. "Never mind me," he says, raising his hands into the air. "On my way to Brighton, I am."

Junius agrees to hear the goblin out, so he will find something to bind it while it is still sleeping. He checks his backpack to make sure nothing is missing.

Re: IX. Brighton
AdaRue looks up from searching the human corpse, startled by the newcomer. Hey Canun! He's trying to steal your money! She puts a stone in her sling, Hands up, Fenland.
We're able to be ambushes, aren't we?
Any word on what AdaRue found on the dead man?

Re: IX. Brighton
Canun gasps as the thief withdraws his hand. The cleric draws mace and shield. "A most objectionable defense!" cries Canun. "You'll go nowhere until we get some answers from you!"
If the man turns to flee, Canun will strike at him...not meaning to subdue.
Attack with mace [1d20-1] = 17-1 = 16 damage [1d6-1] = 6-1 = 5

Re: IX. Brighton
"The hell?" exclaims Horatio, drawing his bow and leveling it at the would-be thief. "Stay on your side of the street, interop—I mean, how dare you attempt to pick a holy man's pocket, you thieving scoundrel!"
Re: IX. Brighton
Fenland
Fenland, the vagabond, continues to back away. "Don't try to run, friend," Dimly growls. "I'm sure you saw the shot Horatio here just made." The archer himself lays into Fenland: "The hell?" he exclaims, drawing his bow and leveling it at the would-be thief. "Stay on your side of the street, interop—I mean, how dare you attempt to pick a holy man's pocket, you thieving scoundrel!"
Canun, too, readies his shield and brings his mace to hand, causing Fenland to backpedal more quickly. "You'll go nowhere until we get some answers from you!" the cleric demands.
"I'll just be on my way now. See, no harm done," he says, opening his empty hands. The man turns to flee... then gets brained by Canun!
The man must not have been too terrible of a thief as a quick search of his possessions reveals a pouch with 58 gold pieces, a lockpick set, and a days worth of trail rations, but nothing else of value. AdaRue resumes her search of the deceased prisoner, but the beaten man was clearly stripped clean of all possessions and wears only the torn robes on his person.
Everyone searches their possessions and confirms that nothing of value is missing.
The final goblin survivor is bound, then roused from its magical slumber. It violently fights to be freed from its bounds, and, unable to claw at anyone with its restraints in place, bites at anyone that gets near him. It refuses all initial attempts at conversation, in either common or goblin. Until, finally, it spits out the following in goblin: "Zer-mash dech magaan or maal!"

Regardless of whether Junius posed his question in common or in the creatures native tongue, the goblin prisoner refuses to answer, and attempts to kick some dirt and spits at the dwarf as its only response.
