"Least I reckon we can outrun it," shrugs Angus. "Still, ain't not call to go attacking it less'n we have to."

"Tempus, maybe because you are invisible you can confuse the snail. Like Yenny said, maybe it doesn't rely on hearing much."

He thinks a bit.

"I think we should surprise it and see what its reaction is."

Tempus nods at the monks suggestion then remembers no one can see him. Yes that might work young Chet. Can you try and speak with it at all? I was thinking of using my magic to do so, but if you can use your ability that could be quite successful perhaps.

Yenny - "Surprising a large creature is a good way to get stepped on. It seems we should either try to sneak around it
or we should approach it openly--unless your plan is to kill it by surprise. But sneaking up to talk to it--seems dangerous.

"If we aim to palaver, why don't we just call out from here to suss out whether the critter's friendly?" asks Angus.

I think maybe I could kill it if I could get behind it, Hyde thinks aloud, But it be so big! I gotta go along with Angus, yeahh. Everything in this place ain't what it ought be, maybe that snail ain't eitha, hah?

Chet looks anxiously to the others as they discuss next steps. "OK, I'll talk to it." He meditates deeply, attempting to think and speak as a snail. He then steps just inside the doorway and greets the giant gastropod.

The blue-robed monk meditates, deep in thought. Perhaps a bit unsure of himself, he steps into the room. He holds a torch, which he barely seems aware of.

Chet seems surprised as anyone at the slurping, gurgling sounds coming from his mouth. The snail turns towards the monk, and the those in the doorway see the body of the snail under its shell. Its brown, hazy form serves as the ugly foil to its beautiful shell. Eyes, at the end of foot-long stalks, lock on the monk. With a dragging sound, the snail begins to make its way towards the monk at about a quarter of the speed of a normal man. It offers Chet nothing in the way of conversation.

Tempus frowns at the lack of sound returning to the monk. "See, a bad snail. Maybe we can lure it to this door, and then slip to the other one and run past it?" he offers

"What we'd be needing right about now," drawls Angus, "is a bucket full of salt."

Galan moves away from the Monk, not wanting to be close to that action.

Yenny casts Bless on the group.

Chet closes the door. "Well, that didn't go well. Yeah, let's go around it through the other door."

I hope it's shell be too big to squeeze thru the doorway, Hyde observes, then grins at Chet. Talkin' to that snail made you sound like me eatin'!

Dandelion follows the line, looking suspicious and rather disgusted at the snail's unkempt appearance.

Yenny follows along, looking closely at the plants to either side. Anything moving there?

"Now, hold y'all's giddyups," says Angus. "I got me a notion."

"I reckon this is another one of them trap rooms. Two doors, one exit, one snail. So what I reckon we might could want to do is open the door on the right, let the critter crawl at us until it's damn near on top of us, then close the door, open the left door, and run like the bezeusus to the exit—and hope something in that there exit keeps the snail from following us."

Tempus stands with his mouth open looking incredulously at the ranger and then the others. He shakes his dreadlocked head in exasperation. "I just said that," he mutters peevishly to no one and wanders to the other doorway.

Hyde nods, an innocent expression (As far as Half-Orcs go) on his face. He did say that, yeahh.
