Do you allow the WIS spell bonus to apply to the druid class, as well, Nidhogg? Or is that strictly a cleric bonus in your games?

I'll roll my scores then create a character on the weekend. I'll probably let my scores and the needs of the group dictate my character choice.

Thought I would post my scores for your approval:
Stats: STR:15, INT:14, WIS:15, DEX:12, CON:9, CHR:16

I'll look at my options for character creation and have something ready in a day or two.

A couple more house rules questions:

After contemplating the backstory, I am tempted to change into an elf, which would require switching around a couple of my scores, primarily charisma. ( I dont suspect that to be a problem since we havent started...) However, elves get a +1 Dex, which would give mine a 19. Is there any bonus to a 19, or play as 18? If none, might want to switch dex around with others as well.

Also, the language regarding thieving skills are somewhat vague to me. Most DMs read it to mean no skills until assassin is a level 3. OSRIC and others read it to be level 1 skills for assassin levels 1-3. I am fine either way, but did want to make sure we had an answer now. If no skills, we would currently be missing that functionality (hint to players still pondering their PCs)...

Honestly, I was contemplating a thief. It would have to be something drastically removed from Till, but I think I could do that quite easily...

I will be away from my laptop and/or the player manuals for most of next week, until Sunday 12th pm/Monday 13th AM. Calum is ready to go as is (If I dont get/take a chance to revise him depending on answers to earlier post...)
I should be able to check in via phone, at least enough not to get behind.

And I...got stuck with a situation today and now I have to accompany a relative in a sojourn to Spain. This means I will be absent, and most likely without any access to the interwebs until I return on Saturday next week sometime during the afternoon standard Greenwich time. I apologise for the late notice, but as I said this was dumped on me today.

I will finish Ragnar Harold upon my return. He is only lacking money, non-combat equipment and background/description.

OK, now I've had the time to read all of this, it seems my absence wasn't a big deal, since most of you are having difficulty to complete your characters anyway. I guess it must be the holidays?

Anyway, I received a lot of questions, so let's see if I can answer them all in a good order.

I allow the WIS spell bonus to also apply to the druid class. My interpretation of the rules is that since Druids are categorised as a "sub-class" of the cleric, it makes sense that it also applies to them.

Changing to elf is no problem, of course. Same goes for switching around ability scores. I'd go for this:

+3 reaction/attacking adjustment
-4 defensive adjustment
+15% picking pockets
+20% open locks
+10% locate/remove traps
+15% move silently
+15% hiding in shadows

I'm going to read it the same as OSRIC and say level 1 skills for assassin levels 1-3.

Let's see. I'm going to be very liberal concerning familiars, but of course I'm going to restrict it somewhat (you can't have a gelatinous cube as your familiar, sorry about that). If you want a familiar, you'll need to pick Find Familiar as one of your spells. If you want one of the normal animals (cat, crow, hawk, owl, toad or weasel), I'm not going to ask you to roll and you can just pick the one you like. If you want one of the "special familiars" (quasit, pseudo-dragon, brownie or imp), you'll have to roll for that and you might end up with a regular familiar instead.

I have no objections to any of them. Not that it matters, but I think my preference would go to either the druid or the gnome, since I think they might be the most useful. But you should play what you want and really, magic-users are always useful anyway.

Anyway, keep asking questions. I'm already preparing for the game behind the scenes, so we can start right away when the sheets/characters are finished.

Ayup. A new player on the forum looking for a game to join absolutely has priority over me. I'll keep read up on the game, though, in case someone has to drop out for whatever reason and I can just jump in with that character for a seamless exchange.

I've had a short converation with zebediah through private messages about his spell selection and the Enlarge spell. Because the practical application of enlarging creatures is written rather vague and allows for multiple interpretations, we looked at the 2nd edition AD&D version of the spell, which is written much more clearly and more simplistic. Although the spell is a little bit weaker than the 1st edition AD&D equivalent, it's a lot more straight forward and easy. What are your thoughts on this? If everyone agrees, we'll use the 2nd edition version.

I've made a scan from my book, so everyone will be able to read the spell's description. It's rather big, therefore just a URL.

I've looked at all the sheets (yours and those of the others) and they look perfect. The only thing that's missing is Lady Clarissa's alignment.

I think most of the missing players have said to return in the coming days, so I think we'll be able to start very soon. As soon as we have all the missing information, we'll be able to start right away.

Do you guys want me to add another thread for you to post the answers to the character background questions? Those that have completed them, have PMd them to me. I could see it being useful to have them for each other's reference.

Yeah, I think I'll do this, too. (Haven't gotten that far yet, and haven't yet posted my character sheet yet, but close to finished!)
