Re: Character Planning - Magus
I'm tempted to switch Dwarf to Undine, for some Rhinemaiden ancestry
Re: Character Planning - Magus
Hah, that would rock! Rhinemaiden as I'm considering them a type of faerie.

Re: Character Planning - Magus
And it would make sense for a watery fae to beget a Verditius--they sure seem to love their enchanted items, be they golden rings or enchanted swords in lakes

Questions for each of you:
1. What was your background before you were taken as an apprentice? You could be taken on from almost any circumstances.
2. Who is your master and what is he/she like? What was your apprenticeship like?

I hope to have a completed character sheet in the next couple of days, but things have been really busy in personal life and work.Keehnelf wrote:Questions for each of you:

1. xxxx was the daughter of a local shopkeeper in the town where the rival covenant resides. She had an unremarkable childhood, except she was an extremely precocious student and never seemed to have the fear of magi that others did. Her intelligence made her bored with her studies, and she often got into mischief (albeit not malicious). A chance encounter with the magus that would become her master with an animal in an area of high magical aura changed he course of her life. Her parents were happy for the magus to take her off their hands, as they didn't know exactly what to do with their odd child.
2. I've chosen an overbearing master flaw, but with a twist - he's a very kindly fellow, but due to another flaw (reckless use of magic), xxxx brought ill repute to the covenant almost immediately after finishing her apprenticeship (still working out details). Her prowess, though, has led her current covenant to overlook her flaws and take advantage of her skills.
Comments welcome
Re: Character Planning - Magus
Oh, I like that twist on Overbearing Master! It will be fun to have him routinely intruding to offer good advice and making sure that she has what she needs, while surreptitiously checking in on her to make sure she's not doing anything too dangerous.
Re: Character Planning - Magus
I think i'm going to make some revisions to my Merits/Flaws. Also need to finish up on my Spells.
Re: Character Planning - Magus
I've been slowly reading thorugh the first few chapters of the book. I should have something posted for a PC in the next couple of days.

For my new fae artificer, Aelfryd Landau:
Pre-Apprenticeship: Aelfryd was a foundling raised by a kindly miller and his wife outside of a major town. Ael was spirited and mischievous, whether running off to get lost in the woods or "acquiring" things from town. At age 10, Mathilde Geier visited the family's cottage with the truth of Ael's fae heritage, which she discerned with a divining rod of her own design. She then invited the girl to her tower to train her in the arts of magic.
Her Master: Mathilde Geier is a fading beauty of House Veriditius who places a lot of emphasis on appearances--items she crafts are always bejeweled and made of the finest materials. She always made sure Aelfryd was the best-dressed person in the room (second only to herself, of course). She dotes on Aelfryd, but is sometimes jealous of her apprentice's youth and fae charms.

No worries at all--like I said, I want to dive into this game slowly and answer any questions before we get moving at full speed!Dogma wrote:I've been slowly reading thorugh the first few chapters of the book. I should have something posted for a PC in the next couple of days.

Re: Character Planning - Magus
I generally don't play female characters (I have a hard enough time understanding that gender IRL ), but i found I kept typing 'she' and 'her' when describing her.
Re: Character Planning - Magus
Sounds like a character with actual personality! Just the thing for a game like this.
Re: Character Planning - Magus
Anyone have questions on magus creation? I'd love a status update from everyone on where they think they are in the process!
We can move on to companions if we've got three or four more or less done.

Re: Character Planning - Magus
Same here--pretty much just have spells left to go
Re: Character Planning - Magus
I'm almost done with my deadlines, so I'll be able to read through the rest of Magus generation and get a character up sometime on Thursday or Friday.
Re: Character Planning - Magus
Sounds good! I'll open a Magus posting thread for finished characters and unlock the Companion planning thread!

Re: Character Planning - Magus
Should be the final version of Aelfryd. In the end, instead of starting from scratch, I just used the Template. I changed the Dwarf to Curse of Venus, and Faerie Blood (Dwarf) to (Rhinemaiden). I removed the Terram 12 and redistributed the points. As for spells...I wasn't sure how we were to go about choosing them, but I knew the highyl stone-focused spells in the template wouldn't work, so I chose more "fae" spells dealing with wind, wood, and water.
