No, actually with the conflict none of the rolls ended up being opposed; it was all independent tests and trumps. They don't count towards advancement.
So, with torches in hand, pouring over your map, what do you guys do?

Norgrim looks over the map with his companions, his brow furrowing. Finally he harrumphs and looks up. "Well, Rand, you're the closest thing we have to a scholar. We had spiders a-plenty in the mines, but no eels--and certainly nothing I'd call 'dire'. Know anything about them?
I'd be happy to try spear-fishing with my crossbow, if they'd make decent rations. Speaking of provisions, anyone have any idea if that water is safe to drink? I wouldn't mind filling my skin." He pats his now-flaccid waterskin hopefully.

Garen shrugs, "It looks safe to me, but we can definitely boil it just to make sure, right?"

i had a post here about trying to figure out what the eels are, but I don't know that it is that important right now. I would rather get water and get moving since we only have a handful of turns before the end of this session.
Speaking of which, if you take a look at Rand's character sheet, there is a spoiler called "session notes." It gives a rundown of what actions gain you fate and persona points. I have found the extra dice invaluable this session, so I recommend playing towards getting them!
"I might have read about them somewhere, but I cannot think of anything right now." The cleric curses inwardly at reading the wrong materials.

"Buteo mentioned as much in his Handbook for the Wilderness Pilgrim, Garen. Would you want to use my helmet again?"

"Well, alright. Doesn't your head burns every time you wear that thing?", he takes the helmet and fills it with what he precieves the cleanest part of the water, he uses the fire from the camp to heat it up, fill the waterskin then repeat until everyone has their fill.

What water are you using? From where?
You're out of camp, are you using a torch to light this up?
Metal heats up a ton faster than water. How do you avoid burning your hand?

I am guessing from Steven's response that we are no longer anywhere near the water-filled hole Rand was laying in during the camp phase? Likewise, the coals of the campfire are not available to set the helmet in?
Where are we, exactly? Back in the Dragon-statue chamber?
We all seemed to be following Enoch's lead in thinking we were still in that same chamber we rested in.

You are in that chamber, yeah! And sure you can grab some water from the pit filled with sharp rocks. There was also talk of the water-logged chamber, so I had to make sure sure I knew we were on the same page here.
Yeah, campfire is totally burned out. Nothing left but cold ash.

Garen takes water from the pit then asks Norgrim to hold the torch under the helmet to heat it up as he uses his cloak as a heat isolation to keep holding the helmet as long as possible.

As they begin the preparations to burn themselves, Rand kneels gingerly at the edge of the pit he had been in for a night. He scooped a bit of water up in his hands and tested it for potability. "If the water isn't too bad, perhaps we can mix it with wine for purification. That is proposed in The Holy Delver."
Rand will start by smelling the water. If it has no foul odor, he will put a few drops on his lips. If that does not seem off (no tingling, numbness, fainting, etc), he will put a few drops on his tongue. No full gulps until I hear the results of that.
I have been sitting on this idea for a week because I have a feeling that sitting overnight in cold water will lead to Rand becoming sick via a twist...

No need, I think you guys have a Good Idea there. I can see Garen twisting up a cloak like towel and using it kind of like a cloth forceps.
You get 3 draughts of water (1 draught satisfies one character's hungry/thirsty or fills one wineskin). After that it's just a soggy, muddy film.
What do you do next?

As Rand dribbled the water hesitantly on his lips, he watched in amazement as Garen and Norgrim worked together to purify the water. He felt a deep sense of shame at having doubted his friends, believing that written word would be more beneficial than the life experiences his companions brought with them. All creatures should be given the opportunity to work towards the well-being of the world, he reminded himself. Especially these, whom have already proven their worth.
He gratefully accepted a full skin, placing it at his feet to warm them further as the pair worked on. "Should we head toward the library in search of this shaman? It seems there are two doors out which the hobgoblins have not explored. Perhaps we will find a statue head or two."
When Norgrim and Garen were done with his helmet, he had them plunge it into the cold water to hold its temper and clean it enough to wear it again.
great thinking SK! Hope no one minds that I claimed a draught of water.

What does Rand think of the opportunities to better the world presented to the shackled Ogre and Goblins seen in this area of the dungeon?

You ninja'd me again. I didn't know they were there! Let me think on that - my answer will partly depend on answers to these questions:
1. Does our updated map connect with our old map? (Do we have a free passage back out of the Keep?)
2. Are we supposed to see what looks to be a secret passage/thin wall to another corridor in the northeast corner of the Dhakaani Common room?
@ everyone, it looks like we can get to one of those two rooms Rand mentioned by heading out Passage 5 (per Steven's earlier descriptions - due East), over the nailed-down plank, then head North towards the dire eels, but go into the room on the southwest wall before we get to the library.

As I recall, your earlier map linked the outside paths to the cave where you grabbed that egg-shaped stone, but from there to here hasnt yet been detailed. Plus the room was filling with lava last I checked, and you haven't exactly found a safe and reliable way past that.
Not exactly sure what you're seeing in the NE corner of the common room.
