"I don't know," Ciar muses, "I was kind of under the impression that the imp was a remnant of the old witch that used to live there, that the witch had died long ago or... something, and the imp was just causing trouble or having fun or whatever you want to call it. What can you tell us of the history of the tower - before it blew up, of course."

Kassel smiles at the back handed compliment and nods as the Halfling speaks. "Equally possible!" he says , before outlining a list of rope, two ladders, a spade, some torches, some lanterns and lamp oil, pitons, some thiefy tools for opening locks and springing traps. "Anything else u can think of?" he says to the more martial members of the company.

"We also encountered some caustic green slimy liquid. Likely thecresult of some occult alchemy. It almost killed our friend Sparrow here. Have you ever heard of such a thing?" asks Sylvan

Fulp is about to mention the giant, killer centipedes as well. But, decides that she probably couldn't take the disturbing news if it included everything.

Sparrow pulls up his sleeve to show his burns but realizes they have been mostly healed.
He decides to let the others do the talking with Lady Devy as he was unconscious for part of the time.
When he gets a chance to speak to Sylvan he says... Thanks for the healing friend. I'm glad you guys could get me out of there and nobody got hurt in the process.

Lady Devy seems genuinely interested in the story about the encounter with the fiendish devil. "Hunclay was a powerful wizard, but I never knew him to possess a creature like that." she says. "The tower was my late husband's obsession; I'm afraid I don't know anything about any slime, or much more about the tower itself than what I've already told you:
Hunclay arrived here in Belhaim about seven years ago. He built his manor soon after arriving and immediately began to remove all trees in the area. Apparently, he felt the tower was also an obstruction and wanted to demolish it as well. A request which was refused. He swore one day he would remove the "eye sore," but it's been so long, I just assumed he had gotten over it... that is, if he had anything to do with what happened yesterday."
"His disappearance, and the discovery of the kobolds so close to town... I do hope you can find me some answers."
The baroness will sit and patiently answer any questions the group may have until the assistant she dispatched to fetch the requested supplies returns, with help. "I got what I could, ma'am," the man says, while he and his helper carefully place a large wooden crate down on the table before everyone. Inside you find two rope ladders, each at least 30' in length; two lengths of hemp rope and one length of silk; a miner's pick; a shovel; two torches, already magically lit; crampons; pitons; a half dozen flasks of oil; and two other metallic vials. "Ahh, good call," Lady Devy compliments as she spies the vials. "Those," she starts, "Use those in the event one of you becomes exposed to poison."
"Oh, and here," she says, retrieving a small, circular metal compact from a pouch inside her gown. "This lotion has healing properties," she starts to explain. Twisting off the lid and examining its contents, she shares that it probably has enough for two or maybe three more uses.
"I wish you luck." she says before taking leave of the party.
---
Okay, we can still role-play any additional questions you may have for Lady Devy, but otherwise, it's up to you how the group wants to proceed. I will also need to know who is carrying each item.

The gnome will rest for the day hopinf to get further natural healing back and then make his preparations for decent into the ruin once again.
He has no further questions for the lady, but recommends that the salves and potions be split so that not just one person has access to them, making it less likely that everything is destroyed in a freak mishap. Being as weak as he is the gnome will offer to carry one of the magically lit torches and an antidote to poison.
He will leave the broken lantern behind in his shared room however.

Fulp will eye the contents, and declare,
Thank you m'lady for generous supplies. I think those are the most critical of our needs. Say, would anybody in town have studied the tower with your late husband? Maybe they would have seen or heard of another entrance to the tunnel structure below?
He will start to grab a few of the items,
Fellas, I can hold a few things in my bag still. Mind if I hold on to the healing ointment and the antidote? I can carry a piece of rope and the ladders for sure. At least till we set them up.

Sparrow remains quiet in front of the lady, but speaks up after she departs.
I will happily carry anything extra. It's not far and the weight won't bother me much.
It's the least I could do after you all saved me from certain death on our first foray.

"Say, would anybody in town have studied the tower with your late husband?" Fulp asks Ms. Devy before she leaves. "Maybe they would have seen or heard of another entrance to the tunnel structure below? She advises the group that they're welcome to try speaking with Bassy, the town's oldest citizen, "But, at 414 years of age, she is not in the best of health, and her memory is not what it once was." Ms. Devy sighs. "I've asked."

Fulp thanks her for the information, and asks where Bassy might be found.
Guys, maybe one or two of us should go visit? At that age, she might get scared off by all of us with gear.

The Baroness shares with the group how to find
Bassy (#22), which is on the way to the tower ruins if a more indirect route is taken.

"If you're planning on paying her a visit, I'd suggest bringing your negotiator," she says, indicating
Kassal.
"You wouldn't expect a human to live to be 414, would you?"

Fulp answers, Oh, well, I thought maybe that healing potion you gave us was that powerful. But, our friend Kassal here is up to the task. Right? as he looks at Kassal.
Fulp will volunteer to go, or stay, depending on who Kassal feels more comfortable going with.

Ciar offers to join Kassal, thinking maybe another smaller person might be a good idea.

The brusque gnome looks up in shock. Normally other people don't much like the little wizard so he is surprised that he is suggested.
"Oh yes well... Ciar and Fulp, indeed, let us go and see this woman, and find out what we may!" he says straightening his blue robes.

"I'm not much for negotiating" replies Sylvan.
"How about a visit to Hunclay manor. Would you advise this, Lady? Maybe we can question him about anything he might've seen. I could use some company for this."

Just as Kassal agrees to have Ciar and Fulp accompany him when he pay a visit to Bassy, the familiar sound of clinking chains is heard approaching the inn.. Almost without exception, thoughts turn to Festus, and how the dwarf must have reconsidered his change of plans and is returning to join the group.
The front door of the inn swings open and, instead of the expected dwarf, a slightly chubby human male of normal height is seen. He wears his family's surcoat -- burnt orange with crossed shield and spear -- over his chain mail, and has a small shield strapped to his back, next to his backpack. A long sword rests in a scabbard at his waist.
He surveys the room briefly before entering.Spotting an empty table nearby, he takes a seat and is quickly greeted by a server.

Fulp whispers to Sylvan and Sparrow,
While we're away, maybe one of you can talk that anchor into going with us down the hole. We need some armor to hide behind, and he looks expendable disposable uhh, suitable for our needs...

Sparrow smiles widely at Fulps suggestion, showing his unsightly teeth.
I suppose I could go see to that easy enough. If he is afraid of little ol me, we don't want him along anyway right?
Sparrow finishes up his meal and takes a big swig from his water mug before using his sleeve as a napkin. He sounders over to the lone stranger.
Hail there stranger. What brings you to this place?

Ingroc the Impavid, Warrior
"Ho there, stranger! My name is Ingroc, called the Impavid, and I seek the glittering gold that lies beyond the sight of the sun, the gravid gems to be found in gabbrous, ganguid gorges, and puissant prizes secreted in palafittic palaces! To whit, I am an adventurer in need of adventure; you will note that I am filled with vim, vigour and vitality! Do you have need of a strong sword-arm by your side?"
