Re: Chapter 1 - Amateur Style Mercenaries
Sorry nothing important to a dwarf.
Hamish enters the house and will look around.

Re: Chapter 1 - Amateur Style Mercenaries
I'd like to wait for Antman to chime in before truly continuing since he made the test and things happen whether he says something or nothing... Consequences and all that... I'll give him until later on today before moving things along.
For now though...
As Hamish inspects the inside of the house he see's much of the same kinds of things that he saw from the doorway, assortments of furniture including beds, dressers, and nightstands. Everything has a fine film of dust covering the surfaces but other than that the place seems to have been well maintained, the beds are all made and there aren't any items littering the floor aside from the footlockers that are on the end of every bed, counting 6 in total. Further inside the house Hamish see's the hallway that he had spied earlier, it most definitely leads to another room, perhaps a foreman's room, or maybe a kitchen. From this angle Hamish would need to go down the hallway to find out.
The house is very quiet, aside from the groups mutterings and movements there is no other source of sound.
Outside the two mages continue to wait with bated breath on the dwarfs findings. Athras scans the surrounding areas, hoping to see some kind of clue as to what is going on but dreading the possible outcomes as old memories surface in the back of his mind. Aedilberct as well searches the area but his gaze seems to be pointed, perhaps he heard something that the others could not? Or maybe he is simply investigating one area at a time instead of the broad sweeps Athras is doing.
GW: Hamish is currently doing a vague inspection, you have any thing in particular you want to look at? jump on the beds? Find clothes and play dress up? go down the spooky hallway? crack open some of those footlockers? The world room is your oyster!
Rhal: you are currently outside, I know things are kind of at a standstill because I'm waiting on a post but feel free to either wait if you'd like or head on into the house... or you could... I don't know... play farm simulator and pick some crops?

Hamish will try to open the footlockers to see what is inside them.

Re: Chapter 1 - Amateur Style Mercenaries
NPCing Antman until he can make a post.
Hamish begins tinkering with the footlockers, going from one to the next. He finds that two of them are locked but the rest come open without any trouble. Inside the four footlockers Hamish finds some spare farming clothes and other types of miscellaneous items such as a spool of yarn, gloves, small pieces of jewelry that may or may not be worth something, and different odds and ends. In addition to the items he is able to find a total of [2d6] = 9 silver pieces and [3d6] = 12 copper pieces.
Outside, Aedilberct quickly turns to Athras, "Did you hear that? It sounded like a scream from down the road!" He turns into the house and hollers at Hamish, "Hamish! Quickly, I believe I heard someone screaming from further into the farms! Perhaps we may find a survivor."
Check out the danger? Finally fulfill your dreams of farm simulator? Beat those locked footlockers into submission?

(Aedilberct) [Defense: 11][AR: 0] (HP: 30/30)
Action: Perception Check
Aedilberct perks his ears and listens intently to the distant sounds, hoping to catch additional notes to give him further guidance, "Rhal, get Hamish, I have heard a yell, we should investigate immediately." Aedilberct turns and takes ten steps in the direction he heard the scream and will listen intently while waiting for Hamish and Rhal. Once they have joined he will make haste in the direction of the scream.

And so it begins . . . Athas heads off with his fellow mage, keeping his eyes open and scanning the area.

Re: Chapter 1 - Amateur Style Mercenaries
The group heads off towards the sounds of distress, leading them down the main road and to the edge of the farms at a run. The area still has an unnatural and eerily calmness to it, that is, until they get towards the last building along that main road.
The building itself seems to be some type of barn or warehouse, with large double doors that swing out, one of the doors is already slightly ajar and sounds that could be combat emanate from inside. To their right they can see a slight trail of blood leading off of the road and towards the rather large farmhouse, from here they cannot tell if the trail leads to the house or merely near it.
Once the group opens the doors to the building fully they see the dirt floor has large gash marks in it and the place is in a state of disarray, wooden beams are splintered and a pile of hay off to the side looks to have been heavily dug through. Looking up they see a massive figure, it's body resembles that of a dog or wolf but it seems to be hairless, it's taut leather skin, sporting several arrows sticking out, looks like a strong thick hide. It's large head is somewhat deformed, ears hanging more outwards and it's jaw sporting massive and mangled fangs; It has large and almost glowing red eyes that are locked onto it's current target.
The group traces it's gaze towards what seems to be a Dalish Elf, sporting leather armors, tattoos, and a finely polished and crafted longbow. As the group enters they see the elf has just fired a third arrow into the creatures tough hide.

Hamish charges at the beast like a dwarf berserker swinging at the beast with dual battle axes.
Dual Battle Axe [1d6] = 3, [1d6] = 4, [1d6+2] = 5+2 = 7, Damage:[2d6] = 4 dmg1 [2d6] = 3 dmg2
Dual Battle Axe [2d6] = 8 dmg1 [2d6] = 7 dmg2

(Aedilberct) [Defense: 11][AR: 0] (HP: 30/30)
Action: Stumbles across an Ugly
Aedilberct, moving through the doorway after Hamish, cringes at the sight of the massive Wolf-Beast. Without pausing he raises his wand from his side and shoots an Arcane Bolt at the creatures ugly side.
Arcane Lance to hit: [1d6] = 2, [1d6] = 2, [1d6+2] = 4+2 = 6, Damage: [1d6+2] = 3+2 = 5

Malzahel
HP: 27/32
"Son of a...!" Malzahel recoiled as the beast bit him on the arm. Malzahel looked over at the reinforcements. An elf was among them, as well as a shem and a Durgen'len. Quite the group. He notched another arrow and aimed right at the beast's head. He let it fly.

Sorry for the absence guys! Last couple of days has been hectic to say the least.
Looks like I'm still waiting on Rhal's move though... I'll give him a bit longer and then continue with the action, later today sounds good.
Also Beefy, you rolled a 5, 3, and 3, with the dragon die being the second 3. So unfortunately you don't get those tasty 3 SP's, modifiers don't count as a physical roll after all...

Re: Chapter 1 - Amateur Style Mercenaries
As Malzahel quickly took aim at the beasts head, Hamish charged towards them, heading towards the ladder and quickly trying to scale it to reach the twisted thing. At the same time, Aedilberct brings out his pristine looking wand and fires off a lance of arcane energies while Athras too fires a bolt of arcane lancing energies.
While the arrow was indeed aimed directly at the Blight Wolfs head when Malzahel loosed it, the resulting brightness of the two fired arcane lances makes the beasts head turn at the last possible moment. The arrow instead slicing down the base of the wolfs neck as it digs into the floor boards of the second level, doing not nearly as much damage as it could have done. Because of the quick movements and obvious chaos of the situation, Aedilberct's arcane lance goes wide, just barely, scoring a scorched mark in the opposite wall of the barn/warehouse. Athras, however, used the beasts movements to his advantage, hitting the creature squarely in the side with his own arcane lance. The tough hide of the Blight Wolf seemed to have almost completely shrugged off the entire hit though...
The beast rounds on Malzahel again, lunging for the elf, its jaws clamping down on the elfs thigh, it's teeth sinking in through the light leather armor and hitting flesh. Rolled a 10, minus your 3 for AR= 7 points to Malzahel!
With a measly speed of 9 Hamish does not quite make it to the melee scuffle this round, I'll keep those rolls for the next round though unless you decide to do something different.
Actions!

Action: Clenches his jaws
Aedilberct sets his jaw and refocuses his Arcane Lance attack at the creature, mumbling to himself in the process, this does not bode well. Something is not right here.

Re: Chapter 1 - Amateur Style Mercenaries
Moving along
As the beast draws back from his bite Malzahel grits his teeth and shakily lets loose another arrow, scoring another side gash along the Blight Wolfs flank. It's leg suddenly drops from the pain, halting its movements for a brief few seconds. However, those few seconds are all Hamish needed to swipe down with his two axes, scoring a small glancing cut with the first swipe and then bringing his full weight down upon the creature with his next swipe, cleaving into the creatures back. Dark blood, almost black, sprays out from the massive blow and the beast crumples to the floor of the second level. The blood oozes down Hamishs face, luckily none of it enters his mouth or eyes before he can wipe away the dark and twisted liquid. After the battle looks to be finished Athras climbs up the ladder to the second level, joining Hamish and Malzahel. he inspects the beast and then turns to the Dalish hunter, "It is good that the creature did not kill you. What is your name? Can you tell us of what has been happening here? Are you with anyone else?" As the Elven circle mage questions the mysterious arrival Aedilberct puts away his wand, unable to use his arcane lance spell before the beast was slain. Looking over at the hay pile he can see that the beast was certainly there and trying to get at something, deep claw marks gouge the dirt floor and hay is tossed aside.
