Marcanus the halfling almost stumbles down the stairs but regains his balance. The stairs continue down another 10' and end in what might be a room, as from the portal opening he feels wall extend left and right. It is dark. Then a line of light on the floor in the wall opposite you, perhaps maybe 20-25' away. Light from under a door?

I sneak towards the door and investigate. (move silent: [1d100] = 55 )

Marcanus takes two steps into the room from the stairwell and falls into a pit. In the split second of the fall he felt no floor at all. The thief has some experience with pits; perhaps it was an illusionary floor?

The halfling falls, twists to get his legs and arms just right, and hits the floor as best he can (2 HP damage.) The pit is 6' wide, 10' deep, with greased walls.

I will use some daggers to try and climb out by wedging them into the brick gaps and pulling myself up. (Str: [1d20] = 5 )
