Antheris

Each day at the Fist Antheris will memorize three casts of Protection from Fire, and protect each member of the party in turn, explaining to them the nature of the protection. (this does not interfere with his Cure Serious Wounds spells)

He also examines the salve taken from Nosra to determine how much there is and how many applications may be left.
Looking at the spear, he says, "If our warriors are fully armed with swords, axes, and other weapons of their choice, I would trade in my ordinary spear for this taken from Nosra."

"Hmmm the necklace is interesting - certainly magical. Do you think it is something akin to a clue to the location of something within the mountain? Or maybe a teleportation device...unlikely as it may seem. Shall we form it into the looping depicted as see what transpires?"

Hollis becomes more animated and excited at the prospect of an investigation...

"Ser Tybalt would your feel for the darkness in this world work on a piece of jewellery do you think? I don't want to risk using an accursed item if we can avoid it."

"I would guess that this device would teleport a group to the home of the hill giants' frosty allies," Gaerys speculates. "Let us not use it yet; there are still things in the bottom of the steading that need to be dealt with."

"As far as I'm concerned, Antheris has earned the use of that spear. I would continue using the keeper's axe until Giantsbane is hopefully recovered. The hornfoot leader's axe is available to anyone who can use it. If no one else wants it, I will hold on to it for use against enemies vulnerable to cold. My defenses will be much weaker without a shield, so perhaps Ethan and Tybalt should take the lead positions when we return yet again to the steading."

Tybalt shrugs. "I cannot be certain. But it cannot harm to try."

He reaches out with his faith and probes the area around him for evil.

Tybalt uses his detect evil 60' ability while standing near the necklace.

Ethan is happy to give the spear to Antheris, but cautions him to not start thinking of himself as a front line fighter... With the reach of the spear, he should work on positioning himself behind an ally to avoid being injured... Like the other spellcasters, we need him alive more than we need support on the front lines.

The necklace does not radiate evil.

And good on Ethan for recalling a spear user can strike from the second rank.

I think there's some confusion... The necklace is non magical, but I think the question is supposed to be asking about whether the long chain, that had instructions written on human skin was evil...

Antheris

Antheris smiles a bit about front line fighting, as he hefts the spear, "Don't worry, the front line is yours if you'll have it. But this is a fine spear."

On Day 9, Lorath attempts to learn burning hands, that being all that he has time left to study.
chance to learn burning hands? [1d100] = 96 <= 65?
apparently the question was ? > 35
"So," he chuckles to Vorsyin, late in the afternoon, "I guess I didn't miss much when I took time off from working Craft, to play at war."

Higher is always better, except with initiative, so your attempt was successful in learning it.

Date: Autumn, 432 ca., Campaign Day 8
Time: 14:30
Weather: 45 degrees; cloudy
Location: Fist of the First Men

**************************
Antheris: 48/48
Vorsyin: 48/48
Gaerys: 47/60
Hollis: 40/50
Lorath: 40/40
Ethan: 55/71
Marcus: 35/35
Tybalt: 46/46

*************************

The party sizes up the loot from the last battle, leaving the chain well enough alone for the moment.

Antheris claims the spear, while Gaerys holds the axe for the time being.

Mark your sheets!!!

Lorath begins work learning Burning Hands. Vorsyin begins study as well.

V -- please specify any spells that you wish to learn.

The party is free for the rest of the day to go about business, if any, at camp.

Anything else, or should we FF to the action?

The only thing else that comes to mind for me is that the party needs to determine what to do with Kjelti's (female) armor and sword. Note that Items can be stored at the Fist safely, assuming camp is not overrun.

DM is surprised that Marcus is getting nothing, even with some redundancy in magic weapons amongst the party. But ultimately not my business.

We can fast forward as far as I'm concerned.

Gaerys already said that the frost axe is available to anyone who can use it. But I'm not sure whether it's actually better than the flame blade Marcus is currently using.

Maybe an armorer could hammer the bumpy parts out of Kjelti's armor?

Well, if Marcus can use the frost axe, it would be better against some enemies, worse against others, since the flame sword is kind of situational, too. He's got the skill to use it, if you'll allow him to... He can switch off between the weapons to make himself as useful as possible. He's not an ideal front rank fighter, though, since he's low level.

Antheris

On day 9, Antheris will cast Protection from Lightning on himself, and will ask Gaerys to take him to the location where the enemy's tracks were found, where he will Speak with Plants to find out how many two leg and four leg (or more) creatures were there, how many times, and the best physical description that the plants can manage.

He also examines the small vial of white liquid taken from one of the frost giant berserkers to see if he can determine it's qualities. If it is beyond him, he will call the attention of Vorsyin, Lorath, Hollis, and the Maester to it.

Would Vorsyin have time to memorize Magic Missile and Web? If not he will go with Magic Missile

Vorsyin spends the day learning a new spell and then memorizing known spells from his book.

Date: Autumn, 432 ca., Campaign Day 9
Time: 15:30
Weather: 45 degrees; cloudy
Location: Fist of the First Men

**************************
Antheris: 48/48
Vorsyin: 48/48
Gaerys: 60/60
Hollis: 50/50
Lorath: 40/40
Ethan: 71/71
Marcus: 35/35
Tybalt: 46/46

*************************

The party awakes again; the previous night having been without incident or further sign of hostiles.

Lorath and Vorsyin complete their respective learning of burning hands and magic missile

DM made V's roll, which was successful. Please add to spells to your lists.

Vorsyin contemplates learning web, but does not know whether the party's plans permit him sufficient time to do so.

V - you could learn web if the party leaves at 17:00 or later tomorrow.

Antheris is unable to identify the white liquid (which detected as magic); neither can the two mages, the cleric nor the maester. Smelling oddly metallic, it appears to be a rare and strange liquid indeed.

Antheris, accompanied by Gaerys, speaks to plants at the site where the tracks were found. It seems that four hornfeet and eight wolf-like creatures were watching the party.

Anything else for Day 9?

If he can do so without disrupting the party's plans, Gaerys would like to scout out the steading again to see if he can find any indications of recent activity around it. Has anyone left (possibly taking his sword and shield with them)? Has anyone entered?

I'm not entirely sanguine about leaving at 17:00. Whatever nasty things are down there, I'd rather face them during daytime than at night. Isn't that when the sacrifices were last time? If the party does decide to wait until 17:00 to leave, Gaerys would prefer to set out by himself or with an advance party to keep an eye on the Steading until the rest of the party catches up.
