Crap, what a horrible fight that was. :( Two down and two out.

Bittersweet hit points taken for new level...

2nd Level Hit Points [1d8+1] = 5+1 = 6

Grim is surprised by the headbutt and after a moment relaxes again.
"'u gkur nro phuutzhharg? Rur 'u gkur nrag?" he says to Epsilon.

I am sorry Grimnail, I only know the common greeting of your people. I do not speak your language fully.

Grimnail nods "Grimnail asks how you knowin Bloodclaw clan greeting is all. Bloodclaws not very welcomin to...yous people. Eh, mostly."
He shrugs and looks to the rest.
"Townsfolk not only ones killed in fight, me thinkin.
He looks to the way they came from.
"Doubtin thems lizzies followin but don't mean we gots time fer buryin or burnin dems yous friends der. Dems died good death." Grim states indicating the fallen.
" Shouldn't be left fer buzzards and wolves. What you wantin we do?"

Kaltar bows his head "I will attend to their needs friend Grimnail"

He prays for his fallen comrades (presumably with Strom).

"Alas our time was short together, I hoped we would know each other better"

He then arranges the burials with Epsilon and Strom in a suitable spot, away from the campsite, allowing others (is anyone else still standing!) to do or say whatever they wish at the appropriate time.

I think it will be at least a day of rest possibly more. In terms of watches Kaltar is happy to stand the first as he is less injured (Edit - having just checked its by 1 hp!! but nevermind) than others but recovering spells for Epsilon and Kaltar of course has to be factored in. So do we want to risk one on watch? If there is only way to come at us (DM?) perhaps this is possible - what do you think?

many winters ago some of my people led by my grandfather met with the bloodclaw tribe. A shaman of the tribe Glutka Bloodclaw had come to seek out my grandfather to see if Toth could provide some knowledge of a deadly disease that had struck your clan.

Many of my people took the opportunity to travel and learn of your clans customs while trying to help. I was to young to go myself, but have read the accounts that were recorded and stored in the great library.

I recognized your clan markings upon your chest from the drawings in the book.

Epsilon will help clean and bury the bodies and perform the proper ritual ceremonies to send them to see Osiris. He will also offer to sit with kaltar on forst watch as they will both need rest to memorize spells.

HP roll

[1d8+1] = 8+1 = 9

woohoo

You're actually kind of out in the open. You're camped along the cliff, so the obvious vulnerabilities are to the north and south, but things in the wild could technically stumble upon your location from almost any direction (except directly behind you, unless they bore through the face of the cliff).

Laid to Rest

The group pays the proper respect and buries their fallen companions, with the the clerics and paladin issuing the last rights. (I would obviously allow you to examine their bodies or take any possessions if desired.) After the somber activities have been completed, the group spends an otherwise uneventful afternoon doing their best to rest and avoid detection.

---

Feel free to continue to discuss your current situation, but I will eventually need a formal watch schedule.

" Glutka Chosen of Luthic is who yous speak. Grim was young too when da sickness took many of da tribe. After yous priests help, many orcs not so glad of it. Tribe split. Tribe fight. Grim goes. "
After awhile and the burial rights are complete, Grimnail sings a low dirge over the fallen.
" Kun hogakkot nu bnnakk turk phhago guhg aknu zuht rhaht khukt.
Pn gu an ag, gu an rgn po.

So how about:
Epsilon/Kaltar
Ewell/Grim
Strom/Gwilt

On whatever time period allows spells to be recovered - 2hours per pair? Is that sufficient Dave?

Grim and the unconscious halfling are the only two with night vision, so this is the best we can do, I think.

Gwillt slowly sits up and looks around. He sees the unconscious Shanny laying on the ground next to him, apparently sleeping. And then spots two forms covered in their travel cloaks and looks around to confirm it is Garth and Alordan who are dead.

"Damn..." he mutters. He carefully examines the bandages on his wounds and notes some of them have already started healing. He slowly stands and takes inventory of his items and the rest of the party.

Then, a little more loudly, but cautiously, he asks, "How far away from the village are we? And did anyone check to see if we were being followed?"

(What time of day is it currently?)

Gwillt suggests he might want to go out and check their trail to make sure it is hidden and insure they weren't followed.

About 30 minutes outside of the village, we forded the river to get here.

We have been keeping an eye out and have not seen any pursuit.

"Aye. Reckon dat's 'bout right." Grim confirms and gently probes some of his own wounds.
"I get a bit more scabbed maybe me check da trail fer anyone followin. " He growls lightly finding a still very tender wound.
"But right now I might fall ta a bug bite as easy as a scalys spear."

Gwillt nods and tries to shoulder his pack. Stumbling and dropping to one knee, he lets the pack fall to the ground and says, "Maybe... maybe I'll rest for an hour or so, get a bite to eat, before checking our trail..."

Grim opens his pack and produces some dried meat wrapped in a bladder. He tears off a large piece and hands it to the ranger.
"Sit. Eat....what? It's dried boar." Grimnail explains if Gwilt is hesitant about meat an orc might offer.

You were in the 'Sleeping Dragon Inn' in the morning, and the troglodyte invasion began while you were having discussions with the locals. Despite the multiple threads and length of actual time spent, the entire conflict lasted maybe a half hour. You traveled a half hour or so south of the village, and have rested a short bit, so it is right around mid-afternoon.

saalaria wrote:Or whatever time period allows spells to be recovered
Per the 'Spells' post, four hours of rest are required in order to be able to re-memorize first level spells.

I will also need to know which spells the various casters are going to be studying or praying for.
