Kato senses darkness within Dineas. It's a sense he might have had before, but with a bit of training (thanks to the now-departed Vale) he's better able to recognize what he's sensing.

Still doesn't mean Kato knows what the heck it means, though. Is Dineas an agent of the Empire? A spy, maybe, sent to infiltrate the rebellion and destroy it from within? Or just someone with a lot of darkness in his heart who enjoys the battle a bit too much, regardless of the side he's on? Kato doesn't know—but he resolves not to turn his back on Dineas if he can help it.

He realizes he's been letting his mind wander (such poor discipline unbecoming a Jedi) and rushes to get into an Imperial uniform. He stashes his new lightsaber—of which he's a bit shamefully proud—somewhere inconspicuous; he's not sure about the standard uniform, but he doubts that most imperial guards carry lightsabers.
