Early Afternoon, Raining

The train of wagons stops at the intersection, with 2 of them turning in towards the Keep, while the others clearly intend to continue north up the road.

One man driving the lead wagon peers out from under his wide brimmed hat to look at Cobb. "Well, hey there Cobb. How's it hanging?" The young woodsman just nods without a reply.

All of the folks in the caravan seem friendly enough, though they do seem to wish to get on with their trip. "Say, where you folks headed on such a wet n' nasty day?"

"Just wondering if you have seen anything of note recently? We have some friends out today and wondering if anyone has seen any sign of them?"

Bugs

Bugs nods and looks excited as he realizes some of the convoy are headed north. He leans into Loyn. "We could join them and learn about how they deal with the bandits."

Loyn-Dwarf fighter

Hmm… “That’s a good idea Bugs, strength in numbers.” He makes eye contact with the driver, “Sir, I see the other caravan is turning North, do you think they’d mind if we tagged along?”

Gyb

"If they think we offer good protection,
they will be happy," Gyb says quietly to those standing further away from the wagon. "Not so much if we annoy the bandits".

Asking if they can tag along with the wagons headed north, the group of adventurers is eagerly accepted as free caravan guards, providing safety in numbers for as long as you'd like to travel with them.

The rain lets up a little as you walk along the road, eventually arriving at the spot with the bandit detour. When asked how they deal with the bandits, their leader states matter-of-factly. "We refuse to pay any fees the bandits suggest, threatening them with a fiery death if they don't let us pass. They are merely cowardly highwaymen normally, so they are easily duped by threatening their lives."

He taps on the official Yeomanry seal stamped into the side of one of his crates. "This usually gives them pause too."

Avoiding the washed out road, they move along the trail through the woods to where the bandit sting was set up. As you arrive, you don't see any signs of bandit activity at all, as if they have abandoned this scam altogether. The caravan leader sees the confusion on your faces and asks, "do you want to stop for a bit to check the place over? Or should we continue onwards?"

"Seems we should keep moving, looking for some friends."

Gyb looks at all the trees enclosing the road. "A bad idea is walking through a known ambush site without a care. Flarlanghn protects travellers. But wise travellers protect themselves too. He looks at Keya. "Could there be signs?"

Loyn looks around, “Maybe they don’t like the soggy weather. I sure don’t!” He is much more comfortable and intuitive within caves, he’ll look to his companions for their woodsy and tracking capabilities.

Bugs

He starts to open his mouth to agree with the caravan driver but shuts it when Rita suggests moving on. He will look to Keya for a tie-breaker, as Bugs wouldn't mind taking a quick look for signs of battle.

Bugs does his best to look around for any signs he can spot, like arrows stuck in things, or torn up areas of ground.

Haldric, generally easy going, the thought of spending more time traipsing through the underbrush:

"The sooner we head back to the Caves, the sooner that makes me happy. I've had quite enough of slogging through the forest for now!"

Keya stops looking around the area and speaks up.

"Yes i agree, lets keep going."

Seeing no signs of banditry or attacks of any kind along the soaked ground, the group decides to move along without spending a lot of time investigating the bandit area.

The rain lets up a little as they quickly and quietly approach the area along the next section of road where the trail leads off into the Caves area.

The merchants and their hirelings wish the party good fortune in their treasure hunting, wondering themselves how many people must have searched those old caves over the last several years. How could there be anything left to find, they silently wonder.

Giving thanks for the free if temporary protection after saving the travelers ample time, the wagon teams take their leave, continuing up the North road towards the capital city of Loftwick.

Moving the short distance through the wet woods, the party makes their way to the edge of the ravine with all the scattered cave mouths. Peering through the branches, they see no sign of danger. Even the normally welcoming green skinned troll is nowhere to be found.

"Well, lets be a bit more careful this time."

Keya moves forward a bit, scanning the area.

"Agreed. I know it is raining, but anyone see any sign of the other group?"

Gyb

Gyb shrugs. "With the kobolds? Probably not. Nothing there, they know that. Goblins? Maybe, for a hard fight if they want. They know this too. Troll? No. Another cave? Gyb thinks the answer is yes, this."

Bugs

He looks back over his shoulder at the leaving caravan. "Looks like the bandits prefer smaller groups, I wonder why they don't call their bluff."

"We could call out for the others. But lets go find a cave to get out of this rain first."

Loyn-Dwarf fighter

Loyn scans and listens intently for sounds of life in the area. “Lets head in…Keya, we’re all right behind you!” He grins and walks carefully behind the ranger.

Rida

"I don't think shouting is a good idea."

Rida brings up the rear with his crossbow ready.

Keya continues in, hanging to the left side, watching and looking at tracks.
