Chapter 1.2: A Marsh - Under the Tower (level 2)
Re: Chapter 1.2: A Marsh - Under the Tower (level 2)
Who's opening the door?
And who is tossing in the squishy, oozy, already dissected bug?

Myrrh
Myrrh will toss in the bug.
Myrrh readies his shield, holding his sword in his shield hand, ready to grab. Then picks up the bug carcass and gets ready to toss it into the room.

Ellith
"Not sure if the door might be trapped" - Ellith added, then turned to Brondulm - "Could you take a look?"

Gromp flexed in front of the girls.
“Could be door smashing time,” he gruipped, which is dwarven for quipped gruffly.

Lia
Lia watches Gromp curiously, apparently he has a muscle ache he is trying to work out. She waits patiently while Brondulm works to open the door.

Re: Chapter 1.2: A Marsh - Under the Tower (level 2)
Brondulm finds no traps onbthe door.
Gromp applies his typical brute force to the door, which he bursts open! Random d6 roll [1d6]=4
Myrrh tosses the gooey bug guts into the room, which has 5 caskets lined up along the walls. The roach clatters to the ground, its guts oozing out onto the floor. Yummy.
The room itself is 20' by 30', south by east.

Myrrh
Myrrh follows the bug in, looking around for any undead. He is now armed with his shield and sword.
"We may have to open the sarcophagus' to get to them."

As if on cue, two caskets open. A corpse rises slowly from each and slowly creeps from its resting place.
The PCs act first. Actions?

Myrrh
Myrrh rushes the closest one, trying to pin it in its casket.
"May Muriel's light destroy you foul beast!"
Vowbound Sword vs Undead [1d20+3]=6+3=9 to hit [1d8+1]=8+1=9 damage

Myrrh pins the casket. But not the zombie.Rex wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 3:16 pm Myrrh

After smashing in his third door down here, Gromp smiled and flexed his muscles again for the girls. He could tell they were starting to warm up to him. Especially Lia with that curious look - he knew what she was curious about!
As the zombies emerged, Gromp yelled: “By Berronar’s bountiful breasts! What hellspawn be this?!”
The dwarf charged with sword and dagger, dropping his shield, such was his fury.
M’Lady [1d20+2]=8+2=10, d. [1d8+2]=6+2=8, dagger [1d20]=12, d [1d4+2]=3+2=5 I think I tallied the modifiers right for dual attack. Does a charge give any bonus?

Re: Chapter 1.2: A Marsh - Under the Tower (level 2)
Gromp's sword is batted away by a zombie's arm, but his dagger rips and tears into its rotting flesh.
It still moves forward with dead eyes...

Ellith
Ellith and Faron moved ahead, side by side with Myrrh and Gromp, swinging at the zombies!
Attack: [1d20+1]=18+1=19, Damage [1d8+1]=3+1=4
Faron tries to bite one of the reatures.
Faron Bite (THAC0 = 17): [1d20]=15, Damage [1d6]=6
(Question about Faron: he has THAC0:17 [+2]. Does this mean his THAC0 is 17 and he rolls with a +2 to Hit? Or simply that he has a +2 to-hit and thus a THAC0 of 17?

Re: Chapter 1.2: A Marsh - Under the Tower (level 2)
(Ignore THACO. He has a +2 to hit. Ascending AC is so much easier in pbp.)Edeldhur wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 7:13 am Ellith

One zombie falls! One more shambles forth...

Brondulm
Hey, cannot you holy folks pray to gods and make these things go away? or at least not attack us?
Pulls his new sword and Lefty and engages the newly risen zombie.
Short Sword to hit: [1d20+2]=13+2=15; damage [1d6+2]=3+2=5
Lefty to hit [1d20-2]=13-2=11; damage [1d4+1]=3+1=4

Re: Chapter 1.2: A Marsh - Under the Tower (level 2)
Brondulm successfully checked the door for traps. Gromp busted it in and the fighting commenced. I thought I got an attack but if not no biggie...as a chaotic thief with two clerics in the party and couple of fighter types, Brondulm would probably hang back anyway.
Re: Chapter 1.2: A Marsh - Under the Tower (level 2)
I screwed up. Apologies. From now on, I will wait until more of you declare actions so I adjudicate them less frequently. Brondulm gets his double attack!BaltoBruiser wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 9:37 pm Brondulm successfully checked the door for traps. Gromp busted it in and the fighting commenced. Brondulm slips in and slices at the walking dead. His blades rip into its flesh, almost crippling it!
