Question about spell selection for Elves. Can I just choose which ones I want? Or are they determined randomly?
So far I have:
- Read Magic
With Int 13 I should have 2 more, correct? Thinking:
- Detect Magic is quintessential
- Last slot TBD (checking the spell list now)

Definitely better 
On spells: planning on going with Read Magic (bonus), Detect Magic (1 x level 1 spell per day), and… Either Protection from Evil or Light, since they are both versatile and useful in more than one situation.

I plan on playing a cleric of Shalamar. I will switch GOLD with Intelligence and then drop that to 11 to increase Wisdom to 13. I will work up the character sheet soon.

Good choice. Multiple clerics of different deities tend to make for a strong group in my experience.

Strength 13
Intelligence 15
Wisdom 13
Dexterity 12
Constitution 14
Charisma 11
Gold 9
1) Flip Dexterity and Intelligence
2) reduce the 12 that is now Intelligence to 10 adding a point to Dex,
3) reduce Wisdom to 11 adding another point to Dex
4) Flip Charisma and Gold
STR 13
INT 10
WIS 13
DEX 16
CON 14
CHR 9

According to the OSE equipment list, standard rations are 5gp for 7 days. Where did you find a way to buy 4 days worth?
I'd prefer all PCs start out using the same resources and options. Something like rations can be bought in-game if necessary.
