...How about... First, we break it up into four shifts. 9-12, 12-3, 3-6, 6-9
Strom and Ewell definitely need to sleep first, to try and recover the 3HP each for getting 8 hours rest...
I think 3HP is only for a full day. 1 HP per 8 hrs rest. Sleep preferred.
I think we need to consider holing up for the day. Strom and Ewell are both at a point where just one lucky arrow could take em out.

Ah, right, I see now.
Well, in THAT case, I'd almost rather sleep for the night, then spend the day traveling to the nearest town where we can resupply, restock, and rest up. Holing up for two days isn't going to get us very far. I'd rather be moving with purpose.
As far as a well-placed arrow taking Ewell or Strom out, Ewell currently has just as many HP as some of the other party members normally have. But a heal spell or two on Strom in the morning wouldn't be a bad idea.
We have a lot of damage and only one healer ATM (until the Druid hits lvl 2). I think we should consider finding a town to be a viable option.
If Alordan came from a town, tracking something along the way and it took a day, then it shouldn't take that long to get back to the town if we're not tracking anything, right?

There are roughly 11 hours between sunset and the following sunrise, with nine of those hours in what would be considered darkness.

The town Alordan left before arriving at your current location might be able to be reached in a single day, but could very easily require a second day of travel.

Still... worth a shot, then. I'd rather recuperate in the relative safety of a town and come back, with more arrows, in a few days, than deal with wandering monster checks for three days while we try to get back to full health.

Is the plan to sleep for the night, and head to "Alordan's" town in the morning? If so, I will need a final sleep shift schedule to resolve the overnight action (or lack thereof).

Another question... Alordan came from a town... Where the heck did the rest of us come from? ie. were any of us aware of a town our PC happened to leave before the game started? Or is his the closest?

Alordan is the only character I actually began in a town (and he had just left it after a very brief visit so ravenn4544 has only a minimal amount of detail). His is definitely the closest that you're aware of.

"The town might be a good idea to take a rest in.... and it might not be. I only spent a brief time there but I learned nothing about what was happening there. I passed through it looking for a band of orcs that I had heard about that had been harassing some of the town folks trade, but as I went through it, i got the cold shoulder to say the least. The town did NOT seem to appreciate any strangers - and I was alone. Not sure if a group of us would cause even more of a stir or not... just wanted to let you know....." Alordan then trails off talking to himself, readying his gear for his watch.

Ewell nods.
Maybe the orcs we defeated were their harassers. Maybe my new sword here will be recognizable enough for them to befriend us.I say, let us get rest then, and head there in the morn... I will take whatever shift is needed.

"That sounds good," Gwilt agrees.
Then lets go with this so we can move on...
9-12 Alordan Shannigans
12-3 Garth Gwilt
3-6 Kaltar Alordan
6-9 Strom Ewell

At the end of the first shift,
Alordan and
Shannigans inform
Garth and
Gwilt that they thought they heard a noise in the distance, beyond the range of
Shannigans' infravision, but it thankfully never materialized into a situation.
"Still, stay alert," Alordan starts in a hushed tone, so as to not wake the rest of the sleeping party members. An excited
Shannigans finishes the transition by excitedly sharing that the noise came from further west, along the cliff wall. After an eventful first day, it takes
Shannigans longer than normal to fall asleep.
A half hour into the second shift,
Garth and
Gwilt...

Alethan or Nuke66, one of you please roll a d10.

Garth begins to detect a heat signature with his infravision very slowly approaching your current position.
"Gwilt, I may be wrong," he whispers,
"but I suspect there's a large cat -- maybe a lion -- coming this way."
"I hear it. Does it look like there is just one, then?" he asks the elf, relying upon his heat vision to determine the number.
"They aren't normally aggressive. We can probably scare it off with fire."
Gwilt quickly puts flint to steel in an attempt to get one of his torches lit up. Once he gets it lit, he'll light a second one and pass it over to
Garth.
If the cat continues to come their way, he'll stand outside the camping area, holding the torch out at the cat, making loud growling noises and hissing noises in an attempt to scare it away.[/quote]

Gwilt fumbles in the darkness to locate his flint and steel in order to light a torch, but the delay allows the angry cat to express its displeasure in a loud growl.
Gwilt manages to get the first torch lit and passes it off to
Garth while he works to light a second.
Garth waves the torch in the general direction of the cat, spooking it, and causing it to very rapidly retreat away from the party.

Can I get all sleeping characters to roll a 1d10? A result of 1-3 indicates the cats growl woke your character from their sleep. As Computer +1 continues to be missing in action, I made the following roll:
Strom wakes on 1-3: [1d10] = 9
Strom, the heavily wounded warrior, manages to remain asleep.

Hopefully he would just use the lit torch to light the second one...

That would make sense, yes. Actually, Garth was able to scare off the large cat with the first torch, so I can spare you from lighting the second at all if you'd like.

ah shit, I might have even used "animal friendship' but no biggie, so long as it is gone works for me.
Garth replies. "Good idea, we have no need for any additional altercations."
