Theo knows that he's no charmer. He'll leave all of the talking to someone less likely to put his boot in his mouth and get everyone wiped out.

Re: The Lost Tavern
The Lost Tavern
Beyond The Shelf
Pushing the wooden shelf away a bit further, the beastly looking boar-man, dressed in a dirty apron of all things, answers in a kindly enough manner. Behind him, you can see evidence of a large back bar area complete with wooden mugs and several different casks sitting in a row. The sounds and smells of a tavern fill your senses as he invites you inside.
"Hells yes you can buy me a beverage, in fact you can get one for my whole staff, if ya like. And if you think coming to The Lost Pub is a bad idea, I cant argue with that logic either."
Laughing at his own joke, he looks over the group as they slowly enter what appears to be one of the biggest taverns they have ever been inside. Oddly, this portal seems to have brought you into an area that is restricted to other patrons, as you see none around, though you can still hear them talking and singing nearby. The area you entered seems to be covered with more shelves just like the one you had to move away from the wall to enter.
"I'm called Marlaman, and I suppose you could say I run this joint. For the time being, anyway. To be honest, I had forgotten all about the little portals behind these shelves. I myself have never seen them used before, actually. Do you mind if I ask you folks where you came from?"
Oddly, when Aliendron casts his magic spell, the others only see him mouthing his words, with no sound coming out at all. He gets no answer from the barman either, though the huge boar-man doesn't seem shocked in the least to see someone who looks as he does.
"If you'd like to stay, why don't I find you a table out in the main barroom? This back bar isn't exactly one of our prized attractions."

Tlachtga tucks her light stone away in her pouch and enters the bar. Looking around and taking in the bar,
"Hello Marlaman. I am called Tlachtga."

Cresty moves forward into the room What are you drinking Marlaman and how much do I owe?
Lerrick
The cleric remains silent as she moves into the room. She looks around and blinks her eyes a couple times in effort to get used to the lighting in the place.

"Marlaman, I am actually not 100% sure where we can from. Do you mean that there are more portals than the one in which we entered through? Behind which of these shelves?"

Aliendron
He was stunned and confused. He spoke the words, yet there was no sound at all. Carefully moving through the opening, the reason became quite clear. Magic resistance, he thought. The creature before him certainly resembles descriptions he had read about extraplanar species. "You do not own ... this joint?" He asks Marlaman. "May I ask how you first arrived here?"

Re: The Lost Tavern
Marlaman stands there answering the friendly inquiries, waiting to lead you into the main room.
"Well met, Tlachtga. And welcome to The Lost Tavern."
"I drink Drow Whiskey, my friend. Sparingly. It's not cheap, but I will enjoy one on your tab anyway. I assume you will all be ordering something?"
"You don't know where you came from, eh? Well, that isn't necessarily uncommon either. And yes, there are many portals around here. This place is filled with them. There are probably others in this very room that are also covered and forgotten. Private conduits that haven't been used in a long, long time. Much like this one, apparently."
"No. No, I don't own this place. I guess nobody really owns it anymore, since the gnomes who created it are all long dead. I guess you could call me the caretaker, as it were."
"How did I get here? Well, through a portal of course, just like everyone else. You don't think I just stumbled upon the place while floating through the pink soup, do you."

"You never know, seems just as likely to find it stumbling through the pink soup as finding one of these portals. I wonder if the portals are mapped out somewhere, that would be interesting to see."

Re: The Lost Tavern
Theo listens to the discussion about the portals and gnomes. He wonders if the food and drink here are safe to consume. He could really use hot food about now. Maybe some pork chops smothered in sauteed onions. Or a whole fried chicken with white bread.

"Forgive my ignorance, but what is this pink soup you are referring to? Yes, I suppose we will stay for a drink, granted that we are free to return via this conduit? If you will also allow, I would like to check for other conduits in this room." He first commits to memory the specific shelving which they came through, then casts Detect Magic and scans the entire room. After completing this, he asks Marlaman, "I will also have a Drow Whiskey, thank you."

Theo doesn't like the "drow" part of the drow whiskey. Have you got any human whiskey?

Re: The Lost Tavern
The Lost Tavern
Beyond The Backroom Shelf
Marlaman, the huge half man/half boar-like barkeeper takes in all the questions and orders, a look of concern slowly crossing his weathered features.
"Tell you folks what. I'll get ya all set up back here for starters. I aint sure some of you are.....ready for the main room yet."
He motions for everyone to stay where they are in this smaller wooden-walled back room lined with shelves much like the one you just pushed aside to access the place. He quickly returns carrying a round table and 8 chairs in one very full arm, and a dark black bottle in his other hand. He sets the furniture down and urges you all to sit as he cracks open the bottle. "This is really good whiskey, but I do have other styles, if you'd prefer. It's 50 gold coins a bottle, but worth every sip."
A rather buxom human barmaid enters to take the tea orders and ask about meals, offering a wide variety of hot specials from the kitchen that are readily available. She smiles as you all look around the room wide eyed. "Ordering the old way? First time here, eh? We have a regular who orders his tea the exact same way."
At the questions about the pink soup, the barkeep points up to the wood paneled vaulted ceiling. There you see a narrow gap in the construction in the form of an open ridge vent that runs along the entire inside of the ceiling. A strange pinkish glow can be seen swirling in and out of the opening in the ceiling, and even stranger creatures are detected floating around inside this pink mist.
Marlaman catches Aliendron casting his spell, shaking his large head in confusion. Once again, other than losing it from his memory, there is no result from the spell whatsoever. "There are other portals here. Unused ones, behind these shelves, sure, and plenty of others out in the main rooms. But I feel I must warn all of you......unless you know what you are doing.....you must NEVER use them. You may come and go freely between here and wherever it is you came from, but using any of the other portals here might bring you to places you don't want to be. Several of our doorways are one way, and only the most learned of their magical ways knows how to manipulate the gateways. If you don't want to end up on some lost plane of the Abyss, I STRONGLY suggest you stay away from any other portals in this establishment." He looks each of you in the eye to discern that you understood him. "I need to know that is absolutely clear with each of you before I can allow you entrance into the main room. Okay?"
