Table #5: Sanctuary (Mayfair Games, 1982)
Re: Table #5: Sanctuary (Mayfair Games, 1982)
San:
Sanctuary Turn 1: [1d6]=2 [1d6]=5 [1d10]=2 [1d100]=22
Use the d6s = 2 and 5 to move toward the Perfumer’s.
The d10 = 2 will move the far western guard south to the #2 spot on the board.

Turn One - San Alleyson (Mant)
San leaves behind the grime of the Maze, heading north and then south to arrive at the perfumers. Women of the Street of Red Lanterns shop, along with a few fops and dandies.
San is in the West Side neighborhood. His Event card roll is 22 (it should be a d50 roll, but 22 works for now.) Please see San’s Private forum for the card.
Neighborhoods map:
Turn One - Andry Offut (Grog)
Sanctuary T1 Andry [1d6]=4, [1d6]=3, [1d10]=10, Event [1d50]=50
Andry sits in the The Vulgar Unicorn nursing an ale and a trollop. He finds two rough looking thugs and hires them for 10 sp each (p. 10). He keeps an ear open and learns new rumors of theft targets (roll for two, p. 6, though discard one as max is four in hand.) Andry then hides his remaining coin in his cache (p. 8). He then hits the sack with his strumpet Gloriana.
Sanctuary T1 Andry Extra Rumor Cards [1d50]=16, [1d50]=9
The city after San and Andry’s Turn One actions:

Yang (DadsAngry), you're up!

Yang:
Yang Turn 1- Event [1d50]=41 Move [1d6]=5 [1d6]=3 [1d10]=5
Movement = 8
Yang exits the maze north and heads west to intersect the diagonal street to then head south.
HH at station two goes south 5.
We need to replace the HH with number markers.
Also, note you can only hire one thug per turn and we don't get event cards because we started our turns in the maze.

Hey Grog,
I’m not sure how to access the Private Forum. Thanks!

When you open the old school parlor games sub-forum it should be at the top above everything else.

Turn One - Yang/DadsAngry Action
Yang strolls north out of the Maze then west and south into the West End neighborhood. He spots a fellow thief in front of the Perfumer.
Sanctuary after Yang/DadsAngry Turn One Action:
Thanks DA for pointing out rules. The Event cards drawn thus far have been returned to the deck. Andry has one thug, and gets 10 sp back which was put in his Cache. I’ll look for some numbered substitute Hellhounds.
Mant, I trust you found your private forum per Rex’s note? The Event card put there has been removed per above note.
Turn Two - Rex
Ter Windsing make your rolls!

Yang
My marker should be on the diagonal street. Perhaps we should name the streets. Also some of the locations are not legible. Mainly the ones in the far right upper corner. Could you assign all locations a number on the board and compile a list?

Re: Table #5: Sanctuary (Mayfair Games, 1982)
Sorry guys but this game's chore-factor outweighs the fun for me. I'm not doing list locations, and while I tried some new pictures its still cumbersome zooming in to look at the writing on the board. As I suspected at the outstart, the necessarily slow pace combined with the back-end logistics make this type of more-complex board game unfeasible (for a GM at least). And on the scale of board games, this is far from the most complex.
I started the Boardgame Parlor with the simpler games which I knew would translate well. The Sanctuary experiment shows the limitations of PbP for complex board games. So unless folks would like to play some of the simpler games (which I understand in their luck-based approach are not as engaging), we'll be closing the door on the parlor.

I am fine with the simpler stuff.

I agree. I think this game is too complex for this type of format. I'm fine with playing a simpler game.

Okay. Here are easier games. Pick two. They can be played at the same time.

I vote for Flash & The Shadow. Sorry Spidey. Just hang in there.

I've set up Table #6 and #7 for Flash Gordon and The Shadow. Let's read the simple rules and start Tuesday?
