Bello

Bello pulls his sword and starts to get involved when Stubble barges in with gunpowder and a match. Sensing things are about to take a turn, he quietly exits the cabins and moves to the main mast with Alderhay and Rexlin.

As Stubble rushes past he remarks: "If you could grab that morningstar for me on your way out, I'll split it with you."

Stern cabin and hallway:

Zoggrot fires off his sawn-off pistol. The bullet drills a wormhole through the jelly, twisting and spiralling against the least resistance before exiting in a splurt of acidic gout and burying itself in the door jamb. Junior 1/2 orc Fenis tries to pull Old Plighty free of the gelatinous blob but it has an elasticity which stretches the gloop around his leg. An axe is applied to hack at a location just below Plighty's boot. It severs a chunk and Iggway assists in him dragging out of harms way. They place him on the bed where Pocc aids his fellow stricken pirate by wrapping layers of bedcloth around his hands and peeling the ooze off blistering skin.

Geoffrey slashes a critical wound with his sword. It slices a splitting crevice into the creature which begins to seperate along the bullet route. One half edges towards the melee, its' twin tries slithering to the double doors. Stubble innovates an explosive solution. Dousing the jelly surface in gunpowder and striking a match to light it up. It fizzes and crackles, sending zipping sparks of ochre flesh onto the hallway walls. It smells like over fatted sausages cooking on the summer bar-b-q. Ferrol aids the dwarf and the pair dodge out the way.

On the stern deck above:

Van de Poel lowers the mother of pearl world globe and stand into the canoe of Rene who descends, determined to paddle this artifact to shore. Siggard discusses the merits of disabling the clerical glyphs inscribed on the prow cabin trapdoor. Rexlin thinks to just hack a hole in the deck, maybe inspired by the hole in the deck at his feet caused by the cannon ball.
(Another hole there would only open above the cabins below). Goldie and Fishy watch over the stern rail to keep check on the nearby ghouls. They remain hidden in the kelp under the jetty end.

Mainmast

Lastly, Alderhay puts on the trenchcoat and pockets the enchanted golden tooth. He reaches to take the ship bell off its hook. Not too careful it sounds a clang, a dim vibrating tone that echoes around the ship. A few seconds later a misty wraith form coalesces by the mainmast and stepping forward comes a decayed zombiefied figure. It lurches up to Alderhay, reaching out an unsevered pair of hands with long dirty nails. Reeking of rotten flesh and poor oral hygiene, it halts almost face to face with the unwitting campanologist, takes off a straw bone decorated hat and hoarsely speaks. "You called me for duty Sir?" It stands gawping as if waiting your command...

Okay next actions please.

Alderhay is surprised at the appearance of the creature. He takes so step back as he tries not to breath in the stench too deeply.

"Ah..um..yes, perhaps you can answer some questions. First, what is our name? Second, do you know anything of the malign influence on this ship that is causing the attacks on me and my companions? Third, what tasks are you able to undertake as part of your duties?"

Mmm, sausages, thinks Zoggrot, realizing that it's been a while since his last meal. He watches the toasted jelly for any sign of movement that would indicate life. If not, he moves to one of the as-yet-unexplored cabins to, well, explore.

I mean, unless one of those cabins is protected by runes, in which case not. But I think that's at the other end of the ship?

Siggard looks over the side of the ship and calls down to his new friend. "Careful with those ghouls over there! Maybe you should leave that stuff sit for now and climb back up? We might need your skills again before all of this is cleared up? We can always come back for your boat and the spoils, but I would hate to see you get into any trouble all alone."

The mage cringes when he hears the loud bell, and is a bit socked by the tolls results. He finds Face again before leading Rex the ax man down the steps, closer to the main group, and points out that a better place to chop a hole would be over the actual target.

Can we see the hatch next to the main mast? (1) Has anyone tried to open it yet? How about the one on the main deck by the forecastle? The clerical glyphs were on a hatch in room 5, correct? Did anyone check the door to room (6) yet?

Both halves of the ochre jelly are still active. One looks fairly sizzled and leaks melted gelatine, much reduced in size. The one closer to Zoggrot that had hold of Old Plighty is again reduced in size and spreads pseudopods like arms trying to latch on to feed off folk. It seems sharp weapons dice it rather than splat it.

The cargo hatch opens on the deck like cellar doors. However the iron rings in the doors have spars passed through and these are subsequently nailed to the securely deck to prevent the doors being opened from below. You can see something has tried as the spars are bent across the gap but so far have held.

In cabin 5, the trapdoor is closed with a heavy chain and spiked. A glyph of warding inscribed on the trapdoor.

The door from 5 to 6 is the locked doir Rene picked and Siggard floated through. Area 6 is open decking below the firecastle which is above.

Hope that helps visualise stuff.

Thanks!

Sig looks at Rexlin again.

“You think you could make us a small view hole in the deck near those doors?”

The mage looks towards the commotion near the cabins and moves in for a closer look. Seeing the slime through the hole blasted through the floor, the mage attempts to fry the thing. He pours some of his powder into the hole onto the ooze and then begins a spell.

Casts: Burning Hands (3 damage + any more you’ll allow for the powder if applicable)

Fenis

Once the jelly is off OP Fenis helps him out of the room and away from the jelly's pods.

Pocc heads back up to the deck "top side" to aid those up there.

Bello

"Nice thinking Stubble. Got any more?" Bello goes to gather more gunpowder to try and repeat the BBQ.

Which rooms have been searched? I think 3,4 and two of the smaller ones?

After hearing from Siggard, Rene' climbs back aboard. Once on deck if there are no immediate dangers he will try to head towards Siggard.

Stubble worked with Bello to get the morning star carried out and to grab more powder to fry the slime thing."Old clothes!" He yelled as he grabbed whatever loose cloth he could find and tossed it onto the slime. "They burn longer!"

Once Old Plighty is moved to the bed Iggway reaches into her medicine pouch, she pulls out a vial with green fluid, she gives him a 1/3 of the vial. Drink this old man, it will make you feel a little better. I’m sorry I can not do more for you at this time. Let’s move up to the main deck.

The party team up to conquer the ochre jelly threat. With bedspreads and mosquito curtains thrown kver the jellies and the last of the gunpowder liberally sprinkled, Siggard stretches his hands through the ceiling hole and toasts the jellies until they melt. Bubbles, hisses and an occasional vent of acidic fluid come off the gelatine as it shrivels. Tentative prodding confirm it has died and the party can search the remaining hallway rooms. The chapel or shrine room is next to a dark room with descending stairs. Opposite are a kitchen gallery and store room.

A dense smell of rot and decay comes up the staircase. Above the expected creak and groan of the ship bobbing at anchor, you can hear a distant sound of very badly played music. A drum beaten out of rhythm, a strangled accordian. Those standing at the top of the stairs feel nausea with the aroma from below.
The store has been ransacked. Broken pike staffs and bent musket barrels mixed in with scattered dented pots and split canvas grain sacks. The kitchen cupboards are open, the doors broken off hinges. Recipe sheets are pinned up on a shelf unit as are jars of pickled savouries. A string of mushrooms or dried fungi hang from the ceiling and a large cauldron pot of old stew is tucked under a griddle hearth.

Alderhay questions his surprise 'steward'. "What 'Our Name' is Sir? Why we are the Golden Swan of ... of Sant... Saint, err Claus, err no, err Claude. " the zombie pulls off his hat and vigorously scratches the back of his head. "It's the maggotts Sir, they do itch awfully though rather nibbly too. Salted I prefer. Would you like one?" He offers out a wriggly fat slug pierced by his long nails. "Claudio de Salvador Gutierriez Alpaca de Ballesteros, that's me Sir though folks just called me Clod. As for the strange ways hereabouts, well it happened because of the cursing and sinful ways of our carnality." Clod looks around the deck and spies a squished carrion crow. He picks it up and begins to ravish it, feathers, bones and dribbly guts. "Are you the new Captain Sir, you wear De la Vega's coat Sir?" He tentatively brushes your lapels and adjusts the collar.

Old Plighty guzzles down some potion special brew and visibly perks up. Stubble holds the morningstar discovered in the vestry wardrobe by Ferrol.

okay, next actions and direction please.

Alderhay recoils at the offered maggot...

Uh, no thank you, I'm trying to cut down. You've explained the why of the current predicament, Clod, but can you tell me the who, who is the one who placed the curse of the ship and where are they?"

Fenis

Once OP has drank his potion Fenis will resume searching about for valuables, avoiding the stairs that stink.

With a gleam in his eye Stubble ransacks the weapons store for locks (assuming the weapons are flintlocks or similar; the mechanisms are a large part of the cost of a weapon) and other gun parts, flints, and tools, if any are there to be had. Sharpstones and files are better than gold, a bent musket barrel can be turned into a handgun with a saw and a little time. Finer grain powder might be found here as well, for priming and fowling.
