I did not mean to give that impression. Tib has been doing damage to the rust monsters. He is, in fact, the only PC to have damaged either monster. But they're dumb beasts focused on tasty metal. They have no interest in Tibbius, even if he is hitting them with a stick.OGRE MAGE wrote:Tib sees that attacking these things with his staff is doing nothing.

BTW, I updated the post to add an action for Helga. Any of you who have already posted can update your actions if you want to.

Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
Fendt puts away his bow and arrows takes out his oversized glow stick and if he can wade into the melee will strike at one of the rust monsters.
Bo Stick Hit[1d20] = 7 Dmg[1d6] = 1 Lrg Dmg[1d3] = 3
But apparently that is not the will of the gods. That is ok for Fendt did not really want to hit them...apparently.

Iluq attempts to herd everyone into the doorway while the creatures are busy before closing the door

Tib will follow the group.
Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
Agrippo kicks his rusty armour across the floor and further down the stairs. He is still blessed with his Hoplon +1 and if the beasts are simply chomping at the food (fortified naturally with added zinc and iron) he will leave through the eastern door,

Date: Nouluna 6, 1221
Time: 3:33 AM - Combat Round 3
Weather: Light rain
Moon: Waning gibbous
Location: Castle Ravenloft, Servants' entrance
**************************************
The rust monsters concentrate on their meals. One finishes eating Agrippo's armor. The creature settles down for a nice post-meal nap. The other maintains a single-minded focus on Melampus's splint mail. You use the opportunity to get the heck out of the keep.
You find yourselves in the northeast section of the castle's courtyard. Ahead and to your left as you exit the castle stands a carriage house. Straight ahead of you, a stone wall extends from the keep to the walls of the castle. An arched passage leads to a space behind the keep. Looking to the west, another massive wall spans from the keep to the castle. The wall is nearly 100' feet tall. A single gate, 20 feet wide, leads through the joining wall. The gate is blocked by a rusting portcullis.

Fendt thinks for a moment then says his thoughts out loud "A shame we could not lure the rust monsters to consume the portcullis."

Melampus, My thoughts exactly, Fendt. Let's see if we can get it open ourselves.
Melampus looks for a device to open the portcullis.

Iluq scans the area, looking for any enemies or possible enemies lying in wait, such as gargoyles.

Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
Fendt in examining the portcullis tries to see if someone could squeeze through between the bars. "Well unless one of us is small enough to fit through I guess we will have to try and lift this or climb the wall. Although I have a handy jump spell so that I or one of us can make it over if we were able to jump the wall."

The gaps in the portcullis are not large enough for any of you to fit.

Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
Tib moves to the carriage house and looks around.
Perhaps the carriage is magical and we could use it to open the gates for us?

Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
Agrippo moves warily to the carriage housing thinking the carriage and horses should be inside...along with a driver perhaps. Thinking he needs to deal with this potential fiend and then put Helga into the carriage and we get out of here. He will follow Tib closely not wanting him to be surprised in the darkness. Agrippo will motion for Miss Helga to follow behind him to the coach.
Re: 7. There Has to Be a Morning After
can we see an opening winch or mechanism from this side of the bars?
