Innana the Fighter:frobozz wrote:Lanny the Elf
Lanny loses his balance after his lunging attack and slips to the ground, and just barely manages to get his shield in front of him before the cleric's mace would have crushed his chest. The force of the blow cracks the shield in half, rendering it useless. Lanny rolls over and rises to his feet, his sword in a defensive position. He again calls out to Innana in elvish:
"I am wounded and must withdraw! Finish him - I will alert the others!"
Not wanting his corpse to become a liability to the group, Lanny attempts to withdraw from the melee, keeping his guard up in case the cleric follows him. As his companions draw near, he turns his head slightly and shouts over his shoulder to them:
"Friends, avoid his mace if you are wounded or without shield - it is quite deadly!"
Innana responds to Lanny in Elvish: "I will cover your back. Find safe ground."
Innana pulls both blades from the doppelgänger's body, and then finishes the sentence for the fake Rhys as his eyes roll back and he drops lifeless to the ground, "Yes, I am happy to give you my head," mimicking the doppelgänger's voice.
Innana turns slightly, and faces the cleric with two bloodied weapons.
Innana slaps her wrist against her side, and the cestus retracts. She grabs her shield and gets in the fighting position for battle against a mace. "Today is your lucky day," she says as she circles the Cleric, "It is the day you finally get to meet your Goddess."
