Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Sorry gang! I had no idea killing a pack of zombies would turn into such a mess for us.
Before he can celebrate any small victories, Sven turns his head towards the growing cloud of poison gas, the long strange leather beak of his new plague mask sending an ominous shadow across the chaos currently enveloping the group.
As if completely unaffected, he actually moves towards the acid spewing skull on the far wall, hoping to learn anything he can about how the trap functions.
Displeased with how much carnage this first encounter caused the group already, he looks over the dead and dying, checking to see if Smokie survived. At some point before the troll is completely burned again, the young mage takes out his frustrations by cutting off the beasts little toe that he promptly places back inside the magic box that hatched this current unlucky dilemma in the first place. He looks at the box again once it is secured, wondering to himself if this is another cursed trinket if the Barrowmaze, and he just hasn’t figured that out yet.
I’m not sure where Smokie and Amos ended up, so please let me know if you need rolls from them as well.

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Smokie in store room, Amos in corridor and needs saving throw. Sven can act, either to collect an unburnt, unmelted piece of troll (thus continuing its captivity and regeneration) or cast a spell he created for such a time as this.I’m not sure where Smokie and Amos ended up, so please let me know if you need rolls from them as well.
Sven also needs a Saving Throw vs BW.

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Sven, scrub that saving throw, you are correct in understanding the acidic cloud being 'atmospheric in effect' so the magic effect triggers for you.
Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Sigrid
Apologies to all, if Sigrid had thought her actions would harm others she wouldn't have done it. However, as Spearmint said, she has a past with trolls, and that affected her actions. She couldn't stand by when the troll was calling out to her in pain and despair. If she had known his true heart, she wouldn't have intervened.
Sigrid is startled as Sir Dewey grabs hold of her, unaware of his close presence, more concerned in making sure the troll feels the full brunt of the fires. As he pats out the fire on her she turns and pulls him close, holding on tightly to him for several moments, trembling she whispers, "I'm sorry friend," one hand raises the magic medallion, though she is still to shaken to explain its meaning.
She will remain by the troll until she is certain it is fully dead.
And she not interfere with Sven take the thing's toe, figuring it is a fitting punishment for the evil creature.

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
I am embarrassed to need reminding by the DM of a spell I created myself for this very occasion, and forgot all about.
And I thought Sigrids actions were awesome! Especially how you detailed out her Strength spell. I didn’t know about that other stuff with the trolls, but that only makes the mystery of it all the better, in my opinion. And it looks like we should survive now, so…..just another day in the dungeon.
With Spearmint’s permission, I will completely adjust Sven’s action.
(you can delete my last post, if you like)
Pinky toe be damned, Sven has bigger fish to fry.
Suddenly remembering the incantation he worked hard on to master during their last downtime, Sven reaches into his pouch and lifts his leather mask just enough to blow a fine white powder into the growing cloud. As the powder intermixes with the green gas, the mage starts to cast, hoping his magic will dilute a good portion of the deadly acidic vapors.
Casting: Sven's Acidic Dilution
Reverse of: Sven’s Acrid Breath
Sven's Acrid Breath [2d4+5]=4+5=9
2nd Level Spell Retention (INT 15) [4d6+2]=13+2=15
Amos tries to use Orgoth’s shield to block the spurt of acidic gas.
Save vs. Breath (16) [1d20]=15

Isvand, off-balanced my his mace's impact with the gate shield finds himself taking the full brunt of the acid breath! It burns!!! It burns!!! My god, it burns!!!
Save V Breath Target 16 [1d20]=12 I forgot the +1 for the bear cloak & spider silk jerkin, but it doesn't make a difference here. Though maybe the Jerkin might take the rest of its 10 remaining points of damage soak as the acid melts it away?

Exploring the de Ogilvy Corridors
Mayhem and carnage, in the corridor and in the cross referencing of all characters augmented items, spell effects, advantages and hindrances.
And by the way, nothing is deliberately planned out, the troll prayer was checked in regard to answer or not and the skull acidic gas trap had been a known threat before.
Mayhem and carnage, as Orcus laughs, causing the skull design in the arched capstone to trigger forth its bile and burning breath. An acrid stream of blistering vapour is ejected to fill the corridor causing those who fail to dodge the gout of acid to suffer the full consequences, -13hp.
Certain characters are partially saved by the strength of armour, the heavier types sizzling as cloth and metal pit or tear but it saves some measure of skin and bone. Others are saved completely. Cosmo and Amos look particularly beset, drenched in drops of the deathly dew.
But while Orcus laughs last, the group laughs longer. Sven triggers his reactionary spell, woven from intricate arcane threads upon his mind's loom for creative spellcraft. Breathing a cone of Acid Dilution in a 180° arc, it waters down +9hp of burning acid, enough to counter the greater effect of the acidic gas as it is breathed out down the corridor from the capstone skull. Orcus be damned. He targets two of the most injured, (Amos and Cosmo) one on either side with concentrated breath, others get a partial relief
The mage can cover those nearby, within 15'ft, those further away benefitting less as the dilution is only splashed upon them.
Troll-bits: save vs Breath Weapon [1d20]=7
resolutions:
Smokie and Copperpiece are in the storeroom, out of danger. Sir Dewey & Sigrid similarly sheltered in the cell. All the Miners and Gnim, Trey, Yardie & Patra are also not in area of effect Sven, unaffected due to some enchanted resistance.
rounding up the rolled amounts.
Amos -4hp (full dam, full dilution)
Sundance -2hp (half dam, half dilution)
Gideon no effect (half dam, half dilution, medium armour type absorption +2 pts) Isvand -4hp full dam, half dilution, flak jacket absorption -4hp)
Gerdal no damage, dodges in adjoining passage with Patra-patra
Orgoth no damage (half damage, half dilution, heavy armour absorption +4 pts
Cosmo -4hp full damage, full dilution
Current Health Status:
Sven (with Smokie): 16/16hp (20/20hp)
Orgoth: 33/33hp
Gerdal (with Harkazz): 8/8hp (12/12hp)
Isvand: 17/21hp
Sir Dewey: 22/22hp
Sigrid: 8/14hp
Cosmo: 4/14hp
Gideon: 8/8hp
Amos: 16/20hp
Yardie: 9/9hp
Bucko: 2/8hp
Gnimish: 9/9hp
Treyvor: 6/6hp
Sundance: 6/8hp
Patra-patra: 8/8hp
Copperpiece: 6/6hp
Plantie: 8/8hp
Lemmy: 8/8hp
Ozzie: 8/8hp
Meatloaf: 8/8hp
Mule: 12/12hp
Troll, in the mayhem and carnage, the remains of the creature burn away, immolated in fire or dissolved in acid that saturates the floor, bloodied by zombie remains and nibbled organs.
Sven can try to select a troll-piece but such is the final passing of the troll that not oneportion of flesh, bone or toe-nail has escaped to remain potent to regeneration. In hope you can put a tooth or finger tip into the wooden box but opening the lid you smell an aroma of burning from inside and see the container too has suffered the ill effects afflicted upon the troll. The enchantment within it fading and corrupting just as the troll is ashen and withered. you may remove the item from inventory.
A sudden sound of footsteps in the corridor. The miners, "Breaching ram, ready to rock and roll " they announce.

hopefully I have covered all the bases.
Actions everyone please.

Isvand makes sure that he is well out of the way of the breaching operation, and holds onto his boomerang, not wanting to embarrass himself in melee again right away. He will attempt to look small and unimportant.

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Sven pulls off his scary plague mask once the carnage settles, looking over the damage done to the crew.
“Is everyone still with us? And don’t be upset, you did fine master Cosmo. This is just another example of the chaos that is the Barrowmaze. You will get used to this stuff happening more once you’ve been inside for a while. Let’s drag these slain zombies into the dead body storage room down the next hall.”
Seeing his magic troll hatching box is no good anymore, he tosses it aside with the burnt remains. “I should have guessed that was a one-time use item. Oh well, easy come, easy go.” (removed from sheet)
When he sees the miners are ready to go, he nods to Sir Dewey. “Perhaps that trap is based on a timer and can only spew gas periodically. Now may be the time to strike at the bricked up wall, but be careful and watch that skull.”
He looks to Gerdal and the others. “If some of you want to check these other two rooms while we search, go for it!”
Finally, he calls Amos, Isvand, and anyone else with the ability to seek out traps and secrets inside the cell where he starts searching the walls. “I’d like this entire room searched extensively for secret doors or the like. I still think those monsters were left in here for a reason.”

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Sir Dewey
He shakes his head in mirth at the situation. "You never cease to surprise, do you?" The Knight clears his throat and gives orders to the miners. "No time like the present. Let's hit that wall."
His plan is to strike the middle, and hopefully weakest, part of the bricked-up opening. Repeatedly. A complex plan.
Sir Dewey has his flail out and ready, but is prepared to pull everyone back at the first signs of trouble. "Once there is a gap, pause for a moment."

Orgoth will stand midway between the miners and the searchers, able to go either way if something happens.

Cosmo will look in the now ex zombie room for any materials inside and carefully search the walls, starting with the left side.

Sigrid
She thinks for the moment, it is best she merely stay out of the way and let those dealing with the wall do their work. She thought about changing her attire, considering her clothing took the brunt of the flames and she might be showing a bit more than modesty decreed. Leaving Cosmo to his search she moves to find Sundance, both to thank her and to see if she might have some spare clothing she could borrow until the return to town. Otherwise now cloakless and in a newly airconditioned frock, things were apt to get cold soon.

Isvand searches the room for anything hidden at Sven's request. He will then move on to search one of the adjacent rooms after that, assuming nothing has happened with battering down the wall

Taking a position alongside Orgoth, "Orgoth, would some of your Dwarven friends perhaps have something we can bring along next time to plug up that blasted skull keystone? If we can figure out how to disable it, we could all breathe much easier, at least in these parts."
