CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Silvestri
"Does anyone have any rope? I wonder how deep it goes. "

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Both Max and Denslow produce ropes, one thick and heavy and smelling slightly skunky; and the other thin and silky.
Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Kurot inspects the twisted metal...well, cheese with holes in is what it looks like...sticking out of the ground. "Do you suppose this is strong enough that if we tied a rope through the holes, it would be strong enough for us to climb down?"

Silvrestri
"Probably, but I'm happy for you all to lower me down to take a look."

*Podo*
Accepting the graciously offered rope from Max and Denslow tying them together securely and offering one end to Silvestri. The other end he securely ties through one of the holes in the metallic structure and grabs onto it firmly for added strength. Podo asks Silvestri, "Do you need a torch?", as he lowers him slowly down inside the hole.

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Silvestri will tie the rope around himself before he's lowered down.
"I guess I will, can somebody throw a lit one down once I've arrived?"

Urlando
I can go next, man.
Urlando will assist the others in lowering Silvestri down into the structure.

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Silvestri is lowered into the bowels of the metallic structure. The dropped torch’s light reflects off the smooth, black interior and dances about as the flame flickers. After thirty feet, the psionist reaches the bottom and surveys the length and width of the chamber which is roughly 30ft by 25ft. Loose sediment provides a sturdy floor with the damaged light box connected to a smooth black rope that terminates into the soil. A shallow pit in the north end of the chamber acts as a funnel for the slightly sloped floor disturbed by the fruit explosion. The walls of the chamber continue into the soil.
Urlando joins the Silvestri in the artificial warren.
Sound noticeably reflects off the walls with a sharp report. There are no seams, openings or protrusions in/on the walls.

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
"This seems as good a place as any for to rest and repair," suggests Kurot. "We can tie a rope to the structure and climb down. If we want to be extra cautious, we could leave a guard up here to make sure nothing cuts the rope and leaves us stranded down there."
Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Max agrees.
Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Denslow isn’t so sure. He volunteers to stay up top was a watch.

Podo
Podo ties a rope around his waist and descends down into the pit. Will use a two ropes for added strength.

Urlando
Urlando closes his eyes for a moment and silently concentrates, sniffing the air for signs of life. Trying the Extra Sense again..

Silvestri looks at those descending in alarm
"There is limited space down here and I have not had enough time to fully examine the area!"
SIlvestri will examine the light-box, including the rope and there it goes into the floor. He is looking for any labels and seeing if the technology used matches that he saw in Motter's realm. He will also look around for signs of any possible exits that might be buried.

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Anton catches up with the group at the top of the rope but keeps checking outside as best he can from this viewpoint.
Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Gam’A Zone, Motter’s Realm 352D/81 (Late Afternoon)
Kurot offers his opinion on leaving a guard above ground, near the outcrop. Even though the pit might be a good shelter from roving denizens, they shouldn't be careless. Max nods in agreement and Denslow offers to take first watch.
Podo squeezes through the largest hole and lowers himself into the underground pocket using a second rope to support his massive frame.
Urlando pads away from Silvestri and the descending Podo, trying to detect any life odors. His focus draws the conclusion is that this void lacks any active organisms.
Silvestri expresses alarm at his, apparently, reckless companions. The psionist examines the light box and smooth rope for any recognizable lost technology. Besides the broken lights, nothing of interest is on the exterior of the box. He tugs at the rope, and it pulls out of the soil like a shallow running root. He does a quick scan of the walls for any other exits or portals and detects none. If there is anything under the sediment, he will have to excavate.
Anton remains cautious and joins Denslow at the first watch while the others explore below.
Saiph ponders his next move.

Podo
Looks good, Podo is going to eat a plant pellet he picked up from the fans and gets some rest. Not feeling 100% secure he does leave his rope tied around his waste from it's attachment to the structure above, can never be too careful.

Silvestri
"Well, it seems safe enough, if possiblly a little cramped for us all. Does anyone think it might be worth digging to see if there is another way out of here? The most obvious place to dig would be where the rope from the light box disappears, it must be connected to something to get get it's power. There may be a point of access that has been filled in with dirt."

Saiph
Still keeping an eye to the sky for any signs of the birds returning, he listens to the conversations.
"I'll keep Denslow company for first watch, while you guys nose around down there."
