Sven nods.

“So, maybe he was trying to show us something?”

“Should we take a look at the end? Maybe the poor guy was killed while mining down here or something?”

just to clarify my post, the apparition does try to hustle Orgoth quite forcefully and his touch is quite numbing and chill, though Orgoth looks unwounded.

Confused even more now, Sven eventually realizes that their friend is actually in trouble.

“Don’t let Orgoth get buried in there! He’s got all the good treasure!”

He fires magical energy at the ghostly miner in the form of two sizzling missiles.

Isvand, seeing the others attack, tries to get in on the action. While he swings with a lot of gusto, his mace goes wide as he is still confused about what this latest apparition is up to.

Exploring the Corridors

The ghostly apparition is quite forceful in his encouragement for the pick wielder to come and dig some more of the chamber out. Orgoth goes numb and cold under the chill touch and stumbles a little, losing his footing over the loose stones.

He tries to stab out with his silver tipped spear but lunges in vain. With a call of alarm, the mages invoke incantations of fire and ice, sending spurts of ectoplasm erupting from 'big bad Johhhnn'. .-9hp

With Isvand & Orgoth both missing in melee they are just out of the fan shaped flame burst sent forth from the sorceress.

Big Johhhnn, big bad John [1d20]=19

Despite suffering grievous wounds from the spellcasters, the ghost of BBJ reacts only by pleading more with the half-orc, a spectral hand makes a grab for his collar pulling harshly and driving Orgoth over the rubble threshold and into the passage.

"Come, come, dig, dig for life, dig for glory, make the breakthrough.". Orgoth feels more cold and chill shiver his bones and his coordination begins to wane as he takes another -2 dex penalty.

Amos tries to rebuke the creature, speaking a command from Arcantryl to flee but unlike his reaction to the Efreeti mask, the spectre just ignores his Turn attempt.

The gnomes lock and load bolts, using the trestle table as cover and level their weapons waiting on an opportune time to trigger their shafts.

Truro fingers his pack to retrieve some holy water.

Isvand strikes out again, with greater success, but much less force. Is it.... fighting us? He asks, confused.

just as I prep for the next rounds. You have vials of holy/unholy water but I didn't note who carried them or if they were distributed.

Let me know, thanks.

Sven took two vials and the other two can go to the priests.

Sven holds his fire, waiting to see what happens with the weapon attacks.

“Big John! What is on the other side?”

Exploring the Corridors

The mayhem in the mineral water room contains. Though many fossilized skeletons lay dead around you and some rest in burial alcoves, another ghostly undead walks the Barrowmaze, at least this portion of room and hacked out passage.

This spectral figure, unlike Schmo Joe, deals in picks not Spades. It seems though to hold all the aces. Devastating blows from the enhanced weaponry of Isvand and Orgoth give telling blows that would cleave or crush most men but their weapons pass through the ghostly figure, not harming him or disturbing his ethereal ectoplasm.

Amos thinking outside the box, summons an Arcantryl domain gift whereby he can cast touch spells via a melee weapon. He intones a 'Cause Light Wounds', reversing his healing virtue to strike into the undead miner.

More splats of divine wounding spurt ghost gore from the spirit body, -5hp and Truro casts a vial of necrotic elixir, it breaks open on the floor and burns into the apparition's feet. -2hp.

Sven tries to commune with it while others are forced to stand and watch. It ignores the verbals and violence towards it and angrily makes another grab for the half-orc. Orgoth staggers under the chill touch, his knees buckling and his balance failing. -2 dex

"I must ... You must. The not-so-secret door, dig it out, breakthrough. I have done one, now do the other." he urges quite angrily.
Conditions: BBJ -16hp, Orgoth Dexterity of 4.

Gerdal

"Orgoth, let go of the pick!"

If Orgoth is to weak or stupified to do it, she will wrestle it (or his backpack?) from him, with the help of Drew, if necessary.

"It wants the owner to dig, let's get rid of it!"

Sven shouts.

"Or perhaps, if your magic weapons do nothing to it, you need to hit the creature with the pick?"

Not sure if they should be letting this happen or not, Sven fires his magic missiles again, this time the spell vanishing from his memory completely.

Magic Missile [2d4+2]=4+2=6

1st Level Spell Retention (INT 15) [4d6+1]=22+1=23 +1=24 :x

If it isn't actually harming Orgoth, and this is all supposed to happen anyway, we should probably stop wasting all of our resources on it.

Isvand speaks up I don't think it's attacking! It wants us to do something! He keeps his mace in hand, but is not attacking at the moment.

Exploring the Corridors

Sven summons the last of his arcane missiles, erupting more essence of shadow and vapour from the dissipating apparition.

Despite lunging with his silvered spear, Orgoth just cannot penetrate the vital organs of the ghost, (you can conclude it has a really low AC).

A call goes out to wrestle the pick off the stumbling half-orc under the theory the tool has some focus for the ghost. With that in mind the gnomes step back in case their Gnomish designed pick-crossbow combo weapons come under its gaze. Drew makes a grab for Orgoth's pack, lifting the pick out of the strapping. But it makes no difference to to ghost who still chases his chosen victim. Isvand holds back, considering that the ghost may be a harmless spirit trying to communicate things if great importance. It opens the way for Truro to step forward brandishing his mace. "In the name of St Ygg I banish you." he intones and strengthened in his faith by divine power, attacks. He lands a powerful blow on the trestle table not the ghost.

Amos, out of spells and options. The shimmering ghost, once more attacks Orgoth, his touch draining his agility and coordination, weakening his physical defences to dodge and move. The ghost hand wraps around him, chilling him more -2 dex. Between ghost and warrior, one is fading and one is fainting in equal measures.

Truro melee mace vs undead (+1 vs undead) [1d20+1]=9+1=10 [1d6+2]=6+2=8Big Johhhnn, big bad John [1d20]=18

conditions: BBJ -22hp, Orgoth on Dex of 2

Orgoth

Knowing he is close to going down Orgoth calls on one last bit of his inner strength and attacks again.
