Valkrina

More like a poison dart to the back of the throat.

Keys open doors.

Euripides Nereos

Pocketing the key and mechanism, Euripides will climb back up. The bottle had some writing on it. Did you read it before you threw it? Anyway, there was a key inside. Plus this thing, he says as he pulls out the stiletto device.

Akhilleus

The warrior stares Valkrina for a second, his expression half angered half puzzled. "Next time we find something, we better see if it's of any use to us before we destroy it. We don't have many things down here and whatever we may find helps." He turns around and approaches the pit so he can give some light to Euripides with the torch. "What did you find, Euripides?"

The Next Room

Akhilleus says out loud what everyone else in the group was thinking, questioning the logic of destroying any resources in this place, good or bad.

Euripides inquires if anyone else read the writing on the bottom of the bottle, to which he gets no reply. He shows Drest the small brass key he found in the pit, and it looks like it would fit into the lock of either of the remaining 2 doors. The Scout doesn't see any traps on the doors, or hear anything beyond them, but both are securely locked and don't budge when tried.

Actions?

From what I am reading in the private threads recently, I thought I better speak up.

Before any major infighting starts, please know that any players who don't want to take this, or any other portion of the game seriously, likely wont be around very long to cause future issues.

And with that warning now out of the way, please carry on.....

"No, I rubbed the bottle lots expecting a genie to pop out and am glad I didn't try to neck down the probably sour wine inside as the stiletto blade would surely have triggered to stab and poison me or even blind me should I have looked into the neck. Another jest by Rel along with the pit trap, neither are funny."

She waits patiently as the doors are checked and one opens.

Akhilleus

The warrior grunts quietly. "A genie would've been interesting." He turns to where Drest is in case he manages to open the door and needs backup.

Xenos

Starting to get a feel for how this place works, Xenos keeps an eye on the door that Drest isn't about to open.

Euripides Nereos
Hold up a sec, Drest. Let me take a look at those locks. I wouldn't be surprised if they have traps. He will check the doors for traps, beginning with the one Drest was going to open.

I don't know what I would roll, so I'll just roll few d12s.
[1d12]=2; [1d12]=5

Didn't catch the part that said Euripides didn't find any traps, so I'll do something different.
Euripides will show the stiletto trap to Akhilleus. This was in the neck of the bottle, so taking a drink would have been a bad idea. Breaking the bottle let us avoid that pain. We might be able to use this at some point. It could be another weapon, maybe? I couldn't read the writing on the bottle, but no use crying over spilt...uh, well, probably not milk, but you get the ...you know?

The Next Room

Euripides pockets the stiletto device for later, but doesn't do much to help clear up the mystery of the broken bottle. No matter, Xenos thinks he is getting the hang of this strange test.

Drest takes the key and opens the plain wooden door on his left, pulling it towards him easily and without issue.

The room beyond is 30 feet wide and forty long. It is dark, just like the others, but this one seems quiet and free of any good looking ghosts. The floor beyond the door is a narrow u-shaped design, with a vast pit in the center of the room. This pit is also laden with iron spikes, but no bodies can be seen below from the doorway.

It looks something like this.

Akhilleus

"That pit with spikes is too obvious. I bet there's some trick here. Maybe the floor shifts when we walk on it and throws us into the pit. Maybe you should check, Drest, but don't puta foot into this room before being sure you actually can."

Valkrina

It might seem like an illusion. I do wonder if shutting the door and actually opening the next one might open to a different room or trap?.

Like you I am not convinced the room is all it appears to be. Maybe if the floors shift there is some balance from one side of the floor with the opposite. So folk, equally weighted walk in synchronization?

The bard suggests some options, more like guesses after she views the room.

Drest

"Something wrong here for sure. I will check and see what I can figure out but if it is magical all bets are off."

Drest tries to detect any traps without entering the room himself.

"Can I have that table? We could try tossing it in and see what happens."

I agree we should open the other door before entering this room. From now we have to automatically assume nothing is what it seems. "

Xenos takes the key and approaches the other door. He gives it a quick look over for any obvious oddities, writings or markings.

If nothing catches his attention then he will try the key in the door to see if it unlocks, but will not try and open it yet.

The Pit Room

Akhilleus suggests this room may be trapped. The torch in his hands, the groups only light source, begins to sputter and burn out.

Valkrina agrees that the room is not what it seems, rubbing the holes in her own body from the last spiked pit while suggesting a few bad things that could happen if they enter.

Drest asks for the table, trying to discern if the room is trapped from the doorway, which is all but impossible.
(give me an example of any game where a thief can check for traps from a distance)

Xenos takes the key and uses it to unlock the other door, swinging it open towards him just like the other door. The room looks exactly the same from this doorway as it does from the one Drest stands in front of.

Xenos gets a torch from his pack and lights it from Akhilleus's torch.

"Perhaps we should have two lit, but they are a limited resource. We should take stock of what we have, I only have 4 more."
