The Knife

"She sounded a bit sort of seductive-y, crossed with congratulating a pet dog", says The Knife, answering Luther's question. "Thinking back on it, it was bit kind of insulting really".

"Quite nasal too. Possibly a lisp. She really didn't say that much. Hard to be sure. Reminded me of an aunt of mine. Not that that sort of thing goes on in my family!" he adds hastily. "I'm not a dwarf."

"I knew they were orbs!" The Knife shouts once the contents of the note are made known. "I wonder how heavy they are?" He reaches down to pick one up.

Wake

"TK stop and please do not grab yet! We need to determine how we will pick them all up at the same time, in case we have to react. Since Keg and Amun are not fans of magic, I would recommend that the remaining four we each pickup on three. I will pick up the white one, Luther you get the green one, Yrias the grey one and TK the red one. Okay. One ... Two ... Three"

Assuming that there were no objections that everyone is ready Wake picks up the white with the cloth.

Amun snarls and braces herself against the cave wall far away from the stones, ready with her sword.

"We are playing with the toys of gods now. Mother willing, we will not be punished for this."

Keg moves well away and keeps an eye out for trouble whether from the orbs or... nah, he was watching the orbs.

Luther
Luther looks thoughtful- an odd look for the big man. I don't like this- it smells like a trap. It feels too easy. I think we're looking at an illusion- bait to make us do what we're doing.
He closes his eyes and attempts to Disbelieve.

"WAIT! Don't grab them just yet. Luther is right. That text on the cloth. It sounds like those peddlers in Saltmarsh trying to convince you to buy their cheap trinkets.

Besides..." He brings out of his backpack a parchment with a drawing showing exactly the same diagram on the cloth. "I draw this just yesterday. Someone had made this diagram on the jungle ground with a branch, I suppose. Give me a moment so I can compare the one I have with this one here..." He starts looking alternatively at both diagrams in deep concentration.

"Hm... That's it. Exactly. Mine only marks these two on the south, while this one has two more marked on the left side. The one saying water and the one saying... Funhouse." He looks at his companions without lifting his face from his parchment.

"Orbs used for teleportation. And the one that put them here says his companions didn't get to make test them more. Do these orbs correspond to these four obekisks then? Why does the diagram I carry only marks the two on the south and wht would someone put these here just like that?

We can't find an answer, I know, but maybe we can have a better idea before we just grab them. If not...." We can make just like Brother Wake said.

Amun stands silent for a while.

"So orbs are keys to the....obelisks? What is under obelisks?"

Keg Trouble. he grumbles. Nothing but trouble. Everything I have heard about what is going on around these obelisks is bad luck. Wasn't at least one of them connected to a tunnel that lead to that temple where so many died fighting off some wizard and a host of undead? Who knows what else could be wandering around down there! Have we considered that these obelisks might well be locked up for a good reason?

A few things to note.

The first three spheres found were fiery red, smoky grey, and deep sea green.

Is the plain grey sphere Chwee carries similar to the one that was on the slizard shaman's staff?

Keg also received a white colored stone sphere in the sack of gems from his plaque pull.

Spider Cave
Starday, 27th of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Overcast, Warm, Buggy

After much discussion and what seems like days of long deliberation, the group is no closer to deciding on what they will do with this newfound treasure.

So, TK reaches in and picks up one of the colored spheres, liking the way the cold stone feels in his warm little hand. He doesn’t seem to die or anything.

Wake picks-up the White sphere.

Moves to the mouth of the cavern and keeps watch.

The Knife

"That went well, didn't it?" says The Knife cheerfully. "I wonder if it does anything apart from find obelisks?" He holds the orb in front of his face and and stares at it. "Talk to me! Tell me your secret, so that I might become great and powerful!"

Yrias

Yrias takes the green one, but uses one of his canvas sacks in order not to touch it. He studies the sphere closely before he packs it in his rucksack.

Wake - Just to state it more clearly, Wake picks up the white sphere using the cloth (as I had mentioned before).

Luther
Luther scowls in all directions as people pull the orbs from their hiding spot. His hackles rise again, and he growls softly. Bad idea- really bad idea. Hope it don't bite us on the ass- I got enough trouble already.

His main focus is watching for traps or attacks prompted by the removing of the orbs.
