Xenos

Having little experience of such terrain, the Ixian stays quiet and follows Drest's directions. He does his best to keep alert for dangerous fauna.

The Dark Spot
Late Morning, Cloudy, Cool

Needing to backtrack a few times in order to stay on the well hidden path, Drest eventually realizes what he is doing wrong. Looking up into the foliage, the scout spots something odd. At a full arms length over his head, he finds little indications of markings. A snapped twig here and a leaf torn in half over there. The indicators are nearly as well hidden as the trail, but he eventually starts to notice them easier now that he knows what to look for.

He doesn't lose the trail again, wondering just how mad the hermit really was if he was wise enough to mark the trail where most people would never even notice it. The others keep a sharp ear and eye out for danger, watching the foliage as they pass. Val starts a flower collection, having little else to offer on the journey. None of the plants they find is of the lotus family.

After a good long while of trekking through the forest, trampling their way across the madman's once well hidden path, Drest starts to hear a pair of voices up ahead through the trees.

Actions?

Apollonius AC:8 3/5 2/2
Valkrina AC:6 8/8 1/1
Drest AC:7 5/7
Euripides AC:5 7/7 2/2
Xenos AC:5 7/9 1/2
Hakon AC:4 8/9 1/1

Drest

Drest gives the stop signal (arm up in a fist), the points to his ear and then towards the noise. He tries and make out what is being said and if they are coming on the trail towards them.

Valkrina

Hides behind a trunk or in the undergrowth and whets her spear just in case those voices are the cannibals tribe.

Euripides Nereos

Seeing Drest signalling...something, Euripides looks around at the rest of the group to see how they react. Once Valkrina steps off the path to hide, Euripides decides that to be a solid plan of action which he will emulate.

Drest stops the others with his silent signal and everyone finds a bit of cover. The scout sneaks ahead a few more paces and quickly returns to relay what he sees.

There are two unarmed men dressed in white robes gathering water from a wide, pool-like well in the center of a small clearing. They are filling several buckets and casks before loading them onto a rickshaw style wagon. A much more pronounced trail leads into the forest on the opposite side of the clearing.

The two men still seemed to be speaking to each other, but their words could not be made out from such a distance.

Drest

Drest will wait and watch and see what they will do next, expecting them to move down the trail but being prepared for the unexpected.

Euripides Nereos

Until he knows what is going on up ahead, the young Atlantean can do nothing more than remain where he is and wait.

Apollonius Triton

Stifling the urge to attempt speech with these new and seemingly more civilized folk, Apollonius awaits the next move of their trusted scout.

As expected, the two men in white robes eventually fill their cart with the full pails of water and begin pulling it up the trail on the opposite side of the clearing, leaving the open well area available for investigation.

Drest

Drest will signal the others with the classic finger to the mouth to be quite, wave them forward and then move across the clearing quickly to the trail they went down and post a watch where he can slip into the woods if they come back.

Valkrina

Approaches the clearing following the signal from Drest. "We need water too."

If a bucket and crank is above the well she will send it down to replenish the supply we have in our canteens.

Moving into the clearing once it is evacuated by the white robed men, Drest watches the trail that leads away from the dark pool of water. Val checks out the water supply, finding no bucket at the surface of the water. When Euripides arrives, she tells the others to fill their supply, forgetting about the magic cask strapped to the back of Xenos. (I think) :D I would take a Hard Int check from the two of you at the well, please. [4d6]

Apollonius and Xenos look around the clearing for any more signs of life. They see plenty of human sized prints spread all over the grounds, but not much of anything else. The prints they find are either made by sandals, or bare feet.

Other than the surface well filled with dark water, nothing else is found in this small clearing.
