Alordan will sense the anxiety in Androns voice and take notice. "Oh shit - did those things used to be pirates!?! How many dead pirates are out there!?" he'll carry Maag or drag him if he has to to get clear of the area.

Andronichishche

Panting heavily under the massive mass named Gramble, "Yes ... I ... think so." He struggles to say. "Could be ... at least ... a dozen ... or more." Each labored exhale carrying a few words.

Maag

Helpless and about to be eaten alive, Maag is on the verge of soiling himself, when the ghoul suddenly releases it's grip and staggers away. Maag breathes a huge sigh of relief. Or at least tries to.

Lerrick

The cleric breaths a sigh of relief as the undead slowly turn away. Seeing that the party is in full retreat mode the cleric rushes over to assist Andron in moving the huge fighter. She turns around every so often to make sure that the undead aren't in pursuit.

In Moldvay/Mentzer Basic it can, without healing. Completely forgot about that. I don't see it for 1E, though.

I just checked the spell description for CLW and the Ghoul entry in the MM. Nothing about paralysis being cured by CLW. I checked the Spell Explanations in the DMG too, but CLW doesn't have an entry there.

I'm visualizing Andron and Lerrick hoisting the huge Gramble over their heads and carrying him out of harms way...the expressions of pain and agony on their faces :D :D

Lacedonia
Moonday, 22nd of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Warm, Humid, Buggy

The one handed, no headed monster looks quite dead....undead.....re-dead.....deceased, to the ranger. Gramble is dragged away from the edge of the water, up onto the bank and down the trail a short distance.

Alordan moves to check on Maag as Tlachtga heals the unmoving thief a second time. His wounds staunch and knit, but the paralysis from the water ghouls touch does not abate. He too is dragged up the trail where the still moving members of the party regroup with talk of undead pirates.

Tlachtga

"I only have 1 healing spell left. Once this parallelization wears off we may want to head back before they return."

Andronichishche

Andronichishche pauses on the river trail, sweat dripping profusely from his forehead and contributing to soaking his robe from exertion. He adjusts the tree trunk that is Gramble's arm to allow his shoulder to rest for a moment. He nods silently to Tlachtga, but holds up a hand to indicate he needs a minute to catch his breath before speaking. "I agree ... on heading back ... to town. We must not stop, though. Lerrick's turning ... won't last long ... and it may not be successful ... a second time."

Breathing more easily now, he gazes in the direction of the muddy bank where the ghouls emerged from the water. "What have they done?"

Andron looks around at the others. "There was a large camp of Captain Bing's surviving pirate crew up the trail. It was sacked a couple days ago by a group led by a new arrival, an elf named Darklin. They must have dumped the bodies into the river ..." He hoists Gramble's arm back up across his shoulder and readies himself to trudge ahead. "We must warn the town and the water bearers."

Lerrick

The cleric surveys the wounds of party. I have plenty of healing available should we need it on our trek back to town. Seeing that the fighters, though hurt, are still in good shape, the cleric moves towards Andron and Tlachtga and heals them.

heal Andron and Tlachtga respectively: [1d8] = 2, [1d8] = 7

Maag

Maag breathes a little easier after being dragged away from danger. He continues trying to flex his muscles and break the paralysis.

It seems the cat's got Alordan's tongue again. ;)

Lacedonia
Moonday, 22nd of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Warm, Humid, Buggy

Dragging the unmoving Maag and Gramble a little further away from the area where they encountered the aquaghouls, Lerrick assesses the situation and casts healing prayers over Andron and Tlachtga.

The priest of Rao states that he had heard of a group who fought pirates in this area not long ago, wondering if these undead monsters are the new versions of those discarded bodies.

Tlachtga suggests heading back once their fighters are up and moving again, though there is no indication as to how long that will actually take.

The sounds of the wild jungle envelope the vulnerable party again, once the worst of the aggressive action has died down a bit more.

Alordan lumbers under the weight of Maag. He casts a melancholic glance over his shoulder. "Indeed, we need to come back and take care of this - this is the town's major water supply for now." He thinks about other water supplies like the island - which is a problem - and then back to combat. "If we can attack these things at a distance we'd have a chance. Or some shields or something to keep from getting frozen."

OOC: sorry for any hold up - I posted earlier this morning but it didn't take for some reason.

Tlachtga

"Thank you Lerrick, I feel much better now. I am not sure we can carry them fast enough to make it back by nightfall. Any other ideas?"

Andronichishche

Andronichishche flinches in nervous surprise at Lerrick's touch, but nods and smiles gratefully in return. "Thank you, Miss Lerrick, I feel much better now." He listens to Alordan and Tlachtga, pausing for a few moments in thought before sharing his opinion. "Normal ghoul paralysis resolves after several minutes ... however, given this island ... I am not so certain about anything now."

He gazes south along the trail until it disappears into the foliage. "I agree with Tlachtga, we must assume the worst." Twisting his torso, he looks back to Alordan. "A Protection from Evil spell should ward against physical contact by the ghouls. I know of no proof against the paralysis, though." He then shifts his eyes to scan the water line of the river a short distance away.

"We could try taking refuge within the Dansden hut," Andron suggests, his attention still focused on the swift moving waters.

Hard wisdom check: [4d6] = 14 (18)
