Lloyd will observe and pull out the toxyrad gauge to see if there are any residues or other evidence. He’ll flip his flashlight to UV and shine the light into the vent.

If a roll is in order: [1d100] = 6

Lloyd, you do see a heat trail that runs from the dead scientist to the air vent. The strange thing is that the heat trail was not made by anything bipedal. You see nothing in the vent itself.

Freaky. Is this on the floor or in the air?

The vent is on the floor

What exactly does the air refresher on the admin level do?
besides refresh the air lol
do all the vent pipes run through this room?

When the others arrive, he’ll describe the evidence. What did the trail look like? Slug like with a lot of contact or many tiny feet oR pseudopods?

"Maybe it be a tentacle coming out of the vent," Rick ventured.

“Well, we know it leaves a heat signature. Maybe it only has a Heat Signature when it’s full... I wonder if it will come to blood... or how it detects its prey.”

“Trpin, is that guy dead? Can you make sure?”

Rick says, "I can be making sure he is dead." He says it with a straight face and then realizes that levity is probably not called for in this situation. He looks slightly embarassed.

The air refresher constantly scrubs the air in each level of carbon dioxide and replaces it with oxygen. At this point, everyone is up on the research level that wanted to be there. The trail itself is very strange. You see no real point of contact on the floor. The heat trail comes from probable proximity contact, ie, there is no point of contact on the floor. In fact, you see two trails inside the heat trail that are cooler that the surrounding heat.

At this point, the other scientist comes out of the refresher, sees what is going on and screams. The other scientist is a Dralasite.

Daz impatient for an update finally calls out over the chronocom, "How are things going there?"

Daz continues to scan the cameras but realizes that the pattern has been only one attack every few nights so that there was little point remaining in the security room. She departs and joins the others.

I’ll make a note of the unusual shape of the heat signature.

Q. How big is the duct?

“Now what?” He looks over his shoulder. “Crud. That’s not productive,” he mutters at the screaming. “I think we have some leads now,” he points out the residue or moisture and the direction of travel to the others. “We’ll want blueprints of the ducts... “ how do we keep this weird thing from escaping the next tie? That’s a puzzler.

The duct is half a meter wide.
T'prin, the body is just like the others. Two puncture marks in the neck.

(Assuming Rick has arrived...)

I assume the air duct has a grate on it. How big of gaps in the grate?

It seems unlikely that a creature could have opened the duct, crawled out, killed the victim, sucked the blood, crawled back and then closed the grate. Rick is thinking that some sort of barely visible/invisible tentacle extruded from the grate, attacked, killed and sucked the blood quickly and then retracted. Any physical evidence present that would make the theory unlikely?

It was stated before that there were faint scrapes on the bottom of the duct in line with the eight drops of blood. In the area of the grate is there anything unusual? Does the grate look deformed or does it just raise up?

“Trpin, there’s blood on the floor, might have leaked out of this thing as it retreated. Maybe check that for weird chemicals or saliva or whatever... venom.”

Shining the light in the duct are getting he drops continuing into the wall?

The vent has no grate on it. There are no drops that you can see up the grate, but at least one spot that has gravity trail. The ducts run from the primary unit on the roof and feeds down to each level in four different vents which then branch into each individual room in the facility.

Well, that’s interesting.

“The thing must have mass, I wonder if we can bait it... or set up some kind of alarm or trigger?“

“Kind of a tight fit in there for any of us... Does this thing ever strike more than once a day? “
